Cubs fans in disbelief as Dempster throws it into left on a Sac bunt allowing the tying run to score. Then Cedeno with an error allowing the go ahead run. hilarious!! Dempster's 4th blown save.

Crede and Glaus are pretty damn close Joe: AVG .307 | HR 14 | RBI 54 | OBP .341 | SLG .531 Troy: AVG .245 | HR 21 | RBI 53 | OBP .348 | SLG .535 Even with all those extra homers for Troy, Joe has 1 more RBI, is right there in SLG, and has a way better average. Factor in Joe's D > Troy's, you could easily say Joe deserves it.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) Both benches WERE warned after the 2nd hit of AJ. Javy would have been ejected. I still think that is OK, but just to clarify, that would have been the case. I know. I was saying to hit a Ranger after the first pegging and Before the warnings.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 07:29 AM) It didn't even get Padilla thrown out of the game, hows that for today's game? Exactly. Even in today's game, they don't throw pitchers out until warnings have been issued (unless there is a brawl). If Javy would've just plunked someone after the first AJ pegging, warnings would have been issued and the game could've finished up without any of this bulls***.

QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) ps: they really need to have corn ON the cob. Especially if it was grilled taste of chicago style. I would get it everytime. The Corn off the cob they have there is quite good. I agree though, on the cob would be nice.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) I want to make sure I understand the theories being posted in this thread. People want to replace a rookie CF, who is great defensively but is unproven against major-league hitting with another rookie, who is new to playing CF and is also unproven against major-league hitting. Umm That's actually not what I was trying to say. I just want to bring up an outfielder if we send one down. Sweeney doesn't have to be the starter in CF. It just doesn't seem smart to me to only have 2 real outfielders ( 3 if you count Mack) on the team.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:18 PM) Javy Lopez. Or, if his CF play is reasonably, Sweeney. I think it would have to be an outfielder. If we sent down Anderson and brought up a pitcher, we would have only 2 natural outfielders on this team. I was just trying to illustrate my point that I don't see how anyone can be for sending Anderson down but against bringing Sweeney up to replace him. I don't see any other outfielder in our system that we would want to bring up.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) I'll just finish with a prediction of what will go down: Anderson to AAA My only question to all who say send Anderson down (which I agree with) is who do we bring up to take his roster spot?

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) OH f*** YEAH. This team has been looking for a win like that forever!!!!! They finally FINALLY got a big win! Great game for BMac and Jenks!! (and Nuke, that's the avatar I was talking about in the chat a few games ago) -
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Oh yeah...they suck. :headshake I said That day. That was my point. One day the Bullpen is our biggest need. Another day we will pay the price for getting no production out of the bottom of the order.
-
Why is it so hard to just admit we have THREE problems with this team. 1. Bullpen 2. Shortstop / 8 Hitter 3. Centerfield / 9 Hitter The main problem changes from day to day. Three games ago, we lost because the bottom of the lineup failed to produce. They pitched around Thome; Konerko and Iguch sucked; and we couldn't score any runs because the bottom of our order was crap. Yesterday, the main problem was the bullpen. We scored enough runs but our bullpen was crap. Basically, what I'm trying to say is we don't just have one problem to address, we have three and any one of those three can cost us a game on any given night.

I've always enjoyed reading his posts on WSI and I think the fact that his research was mentioned in the newspaper shows that people are paying attention to it.

Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........
pcullotta replied to Thunderin'Thome's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is kinda interesting....Brian's Stats at the Cell: .256 Avg | .333 OBP | 3 HR | 9 RBI | .488 SLG | .821 OPS I never thought to look those numbers up. It's not that he's killing the ball at home but those numbers are pretty servicable for a 9 hitter. For comparisons sake, here are Juan's numbers at the Cell last year: .234 Avg | .285 OBP | 10 HR | 40 RBI | .422 SLG | .707 OPS Granted Anderson's numbers suck on the road this year, I just thought it was interesting to see those numbers. Brian is right on pace with Juan's (9th hitter last year) HR's and RBI's and he actually has a higher AVG and OBP (at the cell). -
Every year we have to put up with this Crap. I think it's a shame that the NFL has the best way of electing it's All-Stars yet no one watches and the MLB has the worst way of electing All-Stars and it gets the best ratings. Varitek is hitting .240 and he leads? Matsui is hitting .261 in 32 Games. This is why fans cannot be relied upon.

Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........
pcullotta replied to Thunderin'Thome's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am very happy with the second best record in baseball right now. I just can't stand the argument that we don't need Uribe and Anderson to produce Offensively because Iguchi, Thome, Konerko, Dye, AJ, etc.... Last Nights game for example- Gooch had an off night. They took Thome out of the game by walking him and Konerko didn't do anything. AJ had a day off because of the tough lefty. So we have trouble scoring runs because the bottom of our order is completely worthless right now. Yes we have the second best record right now. Yes we're only 1.5 out of first. But think where we could be if we got some production out of our 8 and 9 spots. -

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 31, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) How bad is Fields' arm? You can mask one bad arm, but 2 you can't. Note I could have mentioned the Cubs OF in this, but I am refusing to. I don't support this idea but I wanted to point out that Fields was a QB in College. He has to have a decent arm. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) His ERA is in the Felix Diaz territory. Felix Diaz = 6.75 ERA Clifford = 6.16 That's scary -
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 25, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) 84%? Isn't ESPN's capacity for USCF still based on the pre-modifications to the UD? Even when we have a sellout the % full number is not near 100%. Couldn't you say that about any team? Looks like they have the capacity listed at 40,615 which it a little high but not the 44,000+ it was before renovations.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 25, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) total attendance doesnt matter, its the percentage of capacity that shows the true progress. I agree, and we are making progress: 2004 - 1,930,537 = 61.1% 2005 - 2,342,834 = 71.2% 2006 - 852,769 = 84.0% (so far) It's also important to remember that we always draw much better once we get into June and the weather is always warm.
-
Just a great series for the Bullpen. That's just what we needed.
-
I think this is my favorite thing about the Cubs year so far: Juan Pierre: AVG .230 | HR 0 | RBI 2 | OBP .269 | SLG .288 | SB 14 | Salary 5.8 Mil Corey Patterson: AVG .306 | HR 5 | RBI 18 | OBP .358 | SLG .505 | SB 15 | Salary 2.8 Mil

The great Maddux gave up six runs in six innings including a three run blast by Borchard. Boy, that fight really brought the team together
