  1. I was just dicing up the Sox roster to think through who all they could actually trade and get some value for versus who they would keep this is what I came up with. I can't see the Sox moving Thornton/Buehrle or Alexei although I would think they would listen to offers on everyone. It is amazing how many players we have that I can't imagine any contender would want any part of. I am sure JR is putting pressure on Kenny to cut the payroll big time with attendance levels running where they are, this is what happens when you don't have a DH and you are counting on Juan Pierre, Mark Kotsay and Mark Teahen to produce. I mean we had Omar Vizquel DH, that is grounds for dismissal for incompetence regarding the entire organization. Keepers 56 Mark Buehrle SP L L 31 6-2 235 St. Charles, MO $14,000,000 50 John Danks SP L L 25 6-2 210 Austin, TX $3,450,000 34 Gavin Floyd SP R R 27 6-6 235 Annapolis, MD $2,750,000 46 Sergio Santos RP R R 26 6-3 210 Bellflower, CA $400,000 37 Matt Thornton RP L L 33 6-6 235 Three Rivers, MI $2,250,000 15 Gordon Beckham 2B R R 23 6-0 185 Atlanta, GA $445,000 10 Alexei Ramirez SS R R 28 6-2 170 Pinar del Rio, Cuba $1,225,000 Goners with Value 45 Bobby Jenks RP R R 29 6-4 275 Mission Hills, CA $7,500,000 44 Jake Peavy SP R R 29 6-1 195 Mobile, AL $15,000,000 57 Tony Pena RP R R 28 6-2 230 Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic $1,200,000 14 Paul Konerko 1B R R 34 6-2 220 Providence, RI $12,000,000 12 A.J. 2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Didn't Carlos Martinez die in the last couple of years? Seems to have happened to a few ex White Sox players before their time. Joe DeSa and Ivan Calderon are two others that came to mind immediately. Martinez was GANGLY, that's the first word I thought when I saw him. He was one of my favorite players, never a power hitter, but fun to watch play the game...and he enjoyed being a baseball player, always had a smile on his face like Ozzie, Buehrle or Uribe. Carlos Martinez! In my experience he was a jerk, when I was 8 I got a foul ball that he had hit, I was waiting for autographs from players as they left the stadium he walked out of the gate and was rude walking through the crowd of kids, Steve Lyons stopped his car and signed 25-50 autographs...so I am a Steve Lyons fan now and glad to see he is doing well broadcasting. Too bad if he had health issues young, that is never good.
  3. Good win, now lets do that 5/6 times to get close to even. Jones can't have trade value he is only a platoon DH per our management/manager.
  4. Pick you poison- 2010 Pierre - Vizquel - Jones 2009 Wise - Lillibridge - Anderson I remember sitting at games in the first half last year where our bottom of our order was Wise/Lillibridge/Anderson and going it can't get any worse, except now the equivalent of those guys (albeit with name recognition) are at the top of the order. Kenny is trying to put together the 2000 all-star team... This goes on for 3 more weeks all those old bums need to be banished and lets see our deep farm system, I heard hawk pre-season state it is the best farm system we have ever had since he has been with the club so lets see it so we can see who is real and who isn't so when it comes time to dump our players that have market value we know what holes need to be filled.
  5. this game will at least put our run differential more inline with how crappy we have played...
  6. Have we seen the end of Randy Williams 10 BB in 6.1 IP...I can't believe he stuck around after the 4-pitch bases loaded walk...at least stop that pain.
  7. QUOTE (whitem0nkey @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) the only thing that I can think of is they want Z to waive his no trade clause. That could be a wise move by the Cubs but I am guessing Z will be fine packing it in for the Cubs and not caring. His quote that it "isn't a contract year for him" makes me think he will take the next two years off and collect his checks in the bullpen. I think all the high paid Cubs players have no respect for the team/fans, etc. even Soriano (who despite his performance has generally been a good guy) is starting to get pissed off about criticism and not talking to the media. I put most of it on Pinella because I think he doesn't care at all, the Cubs offered him huge money and he is just laughing to the bank, he lost his fire long ago but he will put on a little show for the fans if they get into a bad losing streak to collect his checks. This is a pretty crazy move though, I bet in a month he will be back in the rotation when Silva turns back into Silva.
  8. I can stop watching this game now, odds of us pulling this one out are small with our offense. The Indians announcers accurately pointed out that their catcher scored from first on a double thanks to Pierre's throwing skills so he has no offense or defense, but he may be able to steal a base when he gets on (not that often).... I don't think anyone can honestly be feeling good about this team right now...they are not to be written off but they need to put it together sooner than later.
  9. I prefer jenks at closer if jenks was the setup guy we would have lost this game a few innings ago...14 hit to 8 we should be winning by more than 1 run.
  10. that was a nice change, I will give him that!!! Thanks goodness!
  11. nothing like a free runner on 2nd in a 1-run game, of course we should be up 3.
  12. No doubt failing to get those runners in is going to cost us...might as well turn it off....
  13. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) Pierre stealing in th 11th inning, gotta love that. Why wouldn't he steal in the 11th inning? Big play in my mind we can get two sac flys ...scratch that, we don't get runners in from 3rd, that would be too easy.
  14. I apologize to Teahen...his swing is looking much much better...Greg Walker for President!!!
  15. Okay, I think you get sent down after walking a run in on four straight pitches, isn't that a rule?
  16. ozzie way to spot them one, hopefully it doesn't turn into 5.
  17. Okay, get off the ledge, lets real off some wins...nothing is easy...I know I don't like seeing Thome up against us representing the winning run!
  18. Teahen no doubt, last night with the 2-0 count and AJ on first he barely takes a half swing barely gets contact and hits into DP. He is like Karkovice swinging the bat now.
  19. According to Dish CSN Chicago isn't available in FL but I don't trust the first line of help at cable networks (after experiences with Comcast in Chicago). Ideally I would be able to get the games on my TV and not have to watch on the internet.
  20. Ozzie has nothing to be upset about, his son chose TWITTER over the WHITE SOX...it was his decision get over it. If Ozzie wants to make the same choice let him terminate his contract so he can twitter all day long...my guess is the Sox are the only (or small handful) of organization(s) that would put up with Ozzie's antics and if Ozzie is smart he knows that. Oney, grow up and get a real job without your Dad's help, grow out of his shadow into something that you made out of yourself. I know if I was Tweeting bad things about my company I would be fired tomorrow.
