My ulcers can't take this against the Royals, it is only going to get tougher. I hate facing the twins in important games down the stretch, gives me bad flashbacks, and hopefully we don't face radke many times in our series, I remember a few 1-0 losses between Radke/Loiza a few years back.

how about they keep winning and close the gap with the tigers by winning at least 7 out of these next 10! That should help sell tickets, this is a huge road trip!

Seat Locations Available for Post-season
chiguy79 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
better seats for WS/ALCS is because all the 13-game packages are guaranteed ALDS tickets and not future series. -
Cora sucks big one...everytime he sends someone I now assume they are out. Iguchi was a dead man from the start, as was Konerko when he sent him. He also should have told Konerko to get back to third on the grounder against the Tigers where he got picked off 3rd. Also last friday he sent Cintron who was out on a closer play but he was still out and I think that was with 1 out. I thought Vazquez threw OK, good enough to where if we score pods in the first with a lead-off double and JD catches a routine fly ball we are in or win the game. I wouldn't peg this one on him. We need to start getting on Cora while at the games.

I think the game friday was the best played game by the sox all year. Watching the game I was hoping it would start something...so far the SP have fallen in line behind Jose, lets keep it up tonight.
-
agreed...there are some really inconsiderate (or worse ignorant) people at games when it comes to moving in the aisle, etc. At the game friday there was a family of 3 in front of me and they kept on moving the whole game, the guy also held up his cell phone to someone to hear the crowd. I don't know what you gain by holding your phone up like an idiot, the noise level is the same as if you were to hold the phone next to you. A good "down in front" usually startles/angers them...

Interestingly, the Sox, Tigers and Twins have very similar strength of schedule remaining, the Yankees have the easiest schedule and the red sox have the hardest. The # of road games we have worries me, makes it even more important to finish off this home stand strong, the west coast road trip is also coming up. The A's also have a much easier schedule than the Angels, assuming the Yankees and A's win their divisions I would almost rather win the WC and play the yankees than dealing with Oakland...I guess it is a pick your poison scenario, of course if our pitching comes into form we can beat anyone. It would be nice to get a cushion over Boston/Min for the WC..

Not exactly what I was looking for but a good read. http://baseballsavant.blogspot.com/2006_08...nt_archive.html

Anyone know where I can find a stat showing the strength or remaining schedule? I computed this myself last year but with so many teams I want to check out (Yankees, Boston, Sox, Tigers, Twins) it would be a PITA to do this myself.
-
I would like a sweep by either team, boston could be in big trouble if they have a bad week against the tigers and yankees...if the tigers get swept again we will be in pretty good shape to take them down the stretch... the yankees and bosox have pretty easy September schedules in any case we can't have a let down after our good week, keep it going boys...

one thing is for sure, KW has balls of steal. Personally, I don't like the trade. And if Detroit wants to trade prospects, I am all for it, there prospects haven't been performing like prospects! Why not just pull off the macdougal trade and then ship out garcia/vazquez for something and slide Bmac in the rotation. I want to have a good team that can compete for 5-years, not a team that makes a trade and maybe still doesn't make it this year and then we have serious long-term/payroll problems. That being said it is a hard spot we are in because we do need to win this year to keep up the momentum, sell-outs, etc. I would feel much better about everything if we would just take care of business and sweep the twins!

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) You pay state taxes in the state you are paid from. California maxes at 9.3%, Maryland at 4.75%, and Illinois at 3%. Actually that is not true. You pay in the state where the income was earned so on road games you could be charged by that state. Shaq paid something like $1mm to another state. States have wisened up to this and charge visiting teams players.

Ask me after the road trip after the break, going to be a critical stretch hopefully we come out hot like last year when we swept 4 games from the tribe.

I was in Boston this weekend for a wedding... FYI- In Boston the world does revolve around the red sox...that is why the fans think that. The whole trying to connect the Cubs and Red Sox fans due to their "curses" before the Red Sox won really was a disservice to Red Sox fans. That being said I liked red sox fans more before they won the world series, now they are more obnoxious. And yes white sox fans are much more obnoxious this year.

I have had a mixed experience with these employees this weekend and find they are in two camps 1) Very courteous and try to make the game a better experience (helped my sister w/ directions let her take the elevator vs. walking all the way around the stadium when trying to meet my parents) 2) Rude/Useless, could care less about you and arrogant (think security at the airport types) now if we could have more of the #1 personalities and less #2 that would be great. Anyone else have good/bad experiences... I wish I would have got both of their names so I could make reports on both with one getting rewarded and #2 getting kicked to the curb. That being said the old ladies at the cubs games who watch the sections are straight up evil, they make them sound like angels in the trib, but when I went there with a friend in great seat those ladies were grabbing 4 year olds by the ears and dragging them out of the seats they moved up to in a 13 inning game where all the Cubs fans left (shocker).

Leaving Vazquez in too long didn't help either. 2-Run homer on an 0-2 pitch, then a 4-pitch walk, then a 2-rn homer, a great series of pitches...

What Happened To Gene Honda............?!?!?!
chiguy79 replied to Thunderin'Thome's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As long as they bring back Steven or Stephan.... I am sure Ozzie would have a lot of commentary on Stephan... By the way did anyone notice at the game last night when they were doing the "dance off" on top of the dugout, Ozzie had this look like what the $@ll while he was watching the eventual winner dance, the look on his face was great. -
Cool story. I ran into Konerko last night in the city...said hey to him, trying not to bug him too much, amazing how he blended into a crowded room and no one bugged him or caused much of a stir.
-
Izzy is terrible, I don't think he cracks the upper half.
-
This is by far the most overblown story of the year. Everyone needs to get overthemselves. Marriotti is a tool (oh wait, can we not say that either)... I think Dave Chappelle should be censored also while they are at it.
-
Those relievers are the cubs best commodity right now, they should dump howry, eyre and dempster to the highest bidders...what good is a bullpen when you are getting shelled by the 4th inning of every game. A Ramirez would be interesting but his terrible stats this year, suspect (the ball hit my face) defense, and huge salary make him much harder to move. Not to mention I hate this guy because he watches routine fly balls like he hit a tater and watches long singles bounce off the walls in the power alley, but that is a different story. Basically the Cubs are the Marlins before going young, they can keep Lee and Zambrano, everyone else is available...the issue is that the guys left are either old, really crappy or a rental player so they aren't going to get too much back... sucks to be them Not to mention that Hendry can't dump all the players because he needs to save his job as he only has two years to turn things around, so his best bet is to overspend in the off season and try to get a .500+ team that can compete for the wild card next year so all the Cubs fans can get in a tizzy thinking they are in it before the team inevitably chokes.
-
errors happen...remember many game saving plays he makes that other 3B don't make...
-
mack in center cost us the loss to the cubs... his route on barretts triple was horse doo doo butter.... I think we need to work on the bullpen before worrying about offensive production out of CF.

In my opinion frank does "expect" a job in the organization. Not sure if I want him as a "coach" he didn't seem to be a great mentor to the young guys over the years, why now would he be a good coach? Maybe Frank could work in PR or marketing and make house calls to season ticket holders...he probably needs to work off his debt to JR anyways... All in all, I am glad he got cheered in the first, but now the past is the past lets move on and worry/cheer our current players... Great to see an awesome come from behind sox win after the poor end of the game Sunday.
