  1. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) Here is an argument I heard once about Barry Bonds vs. Pete Rose. Let's just say Barry Bonds DID take steroids or HGH or whatever. He still has to see the ball and hit the ball. He still has to hit the ball hard enough and high enough. Maybe, in that one year, 20 balls that wouldn't get out if he wasn't taking something, did. But, there are many other factors...wind, pitcher's stuff, etc. Barry Bonds, IF he never took the stuff, is still one of the greatest hitters with one of the best batting eye's of all time. And he still would have made the hall. Now there's Pete Rose. He's got money on the game...he can purposely put in a pitcher that has no success against a certain batter and call it "a hunch." He can call a meatball knowing the hitter is expecting it. He can use a lineup that is certain to succeed or fail. It still comes down to the players doing what they can, but, as the manager, there are little things he can do to help or hurt his team. Even if it's not direct. Look at Joey Cora, we all know he was wave happy, if he was 3rd base coach for Pete Rose, that's inside info that you can use to your advantage. It's inside information. There are obviously holes in both arguments, but betting on a team you are managing DIRECTLY affects every game. That would be about 420 less homers at this point in his life.
  2. Give the man a break, good for him for finally admitting his mistakes. He won't even be reinstated but he deserves to be in the hall more then some others with question marks above their heads.
  3. Mild Strain in the calf of E. Perez. Now I look above and see 4 other posts posted at the same time, good job people.
  4. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) Not bad. Visually stunning. Agreed.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) BTW have you seen the preview for "Grindhouse"? Looks fantastic. Saw it during a screening of "300" last night. Looks like s*** to me, how'd ya like 300 though? I enjoyed it.
  6. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) wow erstad is having a good spring You know Ozzie is just giddie as a school girl.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) I don't know if he played at all with the big club, but yes, we had him last year and he played the entire minor league season down in Kanny, IIRC. Orlando is very very fast, but Gomes is the better of the Brazilian prospects this system has. I could swear he played a couple games on TV, I recall Hawk or DJ talking about how fast he was and indeed he is. Saw him rounding third base and the kid was flying.
  8. Good read on Gio and even some Broadway in it. First article I've really read with Gonzalez being interviewed. Seems like he has a good head on his shoulders, can't wait to get him on the team eventually. Whitesox.com
  9. QUOTE(rafacosta @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) Interesting...a Brazilian in the Sox system. I hope he can make it to the big leagues. In the country-side of Sao Paulo, there are a lot of baseball players. Most of them are Japanese descendent and they have their own league. Looking by this Paulo Orlando's name, he doesn't seem to be Japanese descendent. Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't he with us last year in ST aswell?
  10. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 06:00 PM) It should've been AJ punching Barrett after he slams his hand on his Big Mac. Awesome.
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) Aardsma is pretty good, I dunno how much more we could have gotten. IMO, Aarsma = Cotts (Aarsma better, but Cotts lefty,) so Vasquez was a cherry on top. More like a turtle dropping on top.
  12. QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 06:55 AM) And this is rumor number 1,247 about Rowand coming back. Let it go, people. Yea no kidding. We have enough outfielders working for a job, Aaron would be handed the job even with his average hitting.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) Nobody feels like the biggest HR in whitesox history happened in the WS by a bench player in the longest game ever in WS history? That was amazing aswell. Willie Harris right?
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) Owens is a LF. To say he's a CF is to say Willie Harris was a CF. Oh Willie ... Willie .. Willie.
  15. Those two seem like they would be fun to have a drink with. Then wakeup with your "Hair" gone.
  16. QUOTE(StatManDu @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) Could DJ be more boring? ... He can stop saying "go ahead" any time now, too. Put Farmer and Harrelson together, simulcast it and send the other guys adrfit ... PLEASE! You should be thanking god we don't have to listen to the Cub's guys. Look past the fact they are doing the game for the Cubs but they SUCK. Game Ova by the way. Sox lose.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) He was behind the first two hitters he faced 3-0. Sorry, that made me laugh.
  18. I would have liked to see us lock up Iguchi or even Dye before we did this but ... whatever.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) Could be that too. Could also have caused the injuries. Prior does look sickly nowadays though. Alot of questions about him should be raised however. Either way, he may be done. Talk about sickly ... did ya see Wood yesterday?
