  1. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) How about Luis Gonzalez for LF to go with Kenny Lofton for CF - both temporary short gaps? Luis should not break the bank and we could get him for a short, reasonable deal Last year's #s - 0.271, 15 HRs, 73 RBI, OBP 0.352, SLG 0.444 He's not a free agent. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) But he could hit 40 HRs too at the Cell .... if we are not going to be a grinding team, might as well slug our way to the playoffs. Back to the old ways eh? The 80 something years without a title.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) He must have taken his crazy pills before posting.
  3. QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) are you saying bmac is a better pitcher in 2007 than garcia? that's nuts. How is that nuts?
  4. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) This point was on B&B and it should shut up people complaining about the trade. Remember when KW traded "untouchable" miguel olivo (sucks now) for freddy garcia and sure some people on this board hated that trade. Fast forward to last year where he traded the greaest CF of all time Aaron Rowand for JIM THOME. Then turns around and trades Garcia who people b****ed about getting ini the first place, for prospects. In short, If you fall in love with players, it is costly, and baseball retarted. Ok, I couldn't make out much of this statement but I pray to god that bold part is sarcasm.
  5. White Sox acquired RHP Gavin Floyd and a player to be named from the Phillies for RHP Freddy Garcia. Gio Gonzalez isn't on the 40-man roster, so he can't be traded until Thursday's Rule 5 draft is complete. The White Sox could be planning to make a reliever out of the 23-year-old Floyd, a former top prospect who has lost some velocity and struggled with his command in the majors. Floyd works in the 90-92 mph range now and his curveball remains a plus pitch, so the potential is there for him to be pretty useful. Still, he's the lesser property of the two the White Sox are getting.
  6. Despite my bidazzlement for this trade gotta say the press conference gave me a good chuckle ...
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) Cubs have a better offense Did you chuckle to yourself as you typed this?
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) GIO'S BACK!!! I honestly like this trade and I know I'm a minority. Garcia will do better in the NL, but we're setting ourselves up for the future really well with this trade. Floyd I think can at least turn into a great reliever still and Gio just makes my mouth drool. Thank God we got him back. Seriously guys, we weren't going to get much better than this. Gio was my favorite minor leaguer and I was very disappointed to see him go, glad he's back but COMON with the f***ing market like it is we should have gotten mucho more talent for Garcia, I'm bidazzled.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Im one of the biggest Kenny fanboys, and even I can say Williams looks awful right now. Agreed, he better have something else up his sleeve or geez ...
  10. Williams also mentioned a deal on a "larger scale" materializing Wednesday, which might "turn out to go full circle and come back to us." Hm... the return of Gonzalez? Just blind guessing if that's what he was talking about.
  11. MLB.com indicates that the Phillies are no longer involved in active trade talks with the Brewers and White Sox. It looked like the Phillies wanted to trade Aaron Rowand and Gavin Floyd to Chicago for Freddy Garcia, then deal Jon Lieber to Milwaukee for Kevin Mench. However, the White Sox apparently wanted more and the Phillies weren't going to move Lieber without bringing in another starter.
  12. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Why would you boycott the Sox for trying to improve by signing one of the best players on the market and one of the greatest players of all time? That's a bit ridiculous. So would you rather have him or Ramirez?
  13. That much money for good players at best ... God damn this offseason is going to cause the world to revolve differently.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) We still have time to get Timo back. How's about Willie?
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) I'm really beginning to dislike Aaron Rowand. You know honestly if every single offseason there's going to be rumors of Rowand returning to the Sox ... I think I might just ... well ...
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 06:57 AM) Oh s***! GO AWAY GRANDPA ALOMAR.
  17. QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) From the MLB.COM site... LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Of the 30 Major League clubs, roughly 29 are looking for more pitching. As the baseball balance of trade goes, there is a definite trade imbalance The position we have in these meetings is phenominal! Like kids in the candy store! And also to the interest in Damian Miller, I'd welcome the acquisition. But I swear if we have Grandpa Alomar as our backup to start the season ... oh well he'll be in black and white any which way come the end of July ...
  18. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) Zoom, did you just say that Pods is not that much better than Crawford? I just have to be sure. I have been drinking a lot. There is never drinking alot ... your drinking to less.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) The large amount of money that they sent back so we could afford Thome, was the reason that Rowand went. Thome is getting paid a lot more than we are paying him I hope you realize. Huge hole, come on now. How is our CF hitting in the low 200s a huge hole, yet our SS can do it and he is considered okay. We lost last year because our pitching sucked, and our offense decided to play Saturday beer league softball in the 2nd half. If one of those was fixed we would of won the division. Pretty much sums it up right there.
  20. Gotta love the thumbs up. Good sign.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) My two biggest problems with him are his K totals (swing the freaking bat) and his horrific fundamentals. Caught stealings don't bother me as much, as at least that means he got on base. I've never seen a supposed "speed" player who takes more called third strikes than he does. The whole point of being a slap hitter is to make contact as frequently as possible. Stolen bases are fundamentals ... aren't they? Well they always have been in my eyes. And yes the called strike three are a pain in the ass.
  22. The main problem I have with Scott is since '04 his Stolen bases keep falling and the caught stealing continue to remain a concern. '04 - 70 '05 - 59 '06 - 40 I also don't buy into his whole "injured" excuse. If he was really injured since ... last year? Shouldn't he NOT be playing? Oh yea ... then there is his fielding with no arm.
