Sox vs. Indians...Anthony John Walkoff
tealeafreaderii replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
is it just me or does Scotty seem like he is playing with that "fire" he has been lacking the last few months. He looks like a completely different hitter. I think this bodes well for things to come. -

I'm so stoked I found a bar that carries comcast sports net... (i'm well out of the area) shame the place is full of twins fans... bout to pack up my homework head down there and buy myself a pitcher of something cheap... going to see if I can remain sober enough to write a coherent essay...

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) Yep, he has no problems bashing Anderson and McCarthy. Meanwhile, veterans like Garcia and Podsednik get every excuse in the book from Ozzie for their struggles. This may have been addressed, but I don't feel like reading through 23 pages of venomous BS. A huge part of leadership is understanding what it takes light a fire under someone’s ass. Some people react well to getting dressed down and chewed out. It pisses them off and that anger translates into intensity and hard work. Others need be coddled and positively reinforced or they get down on themselves and they start playing worse. Part of being a good leader is understanding which way to go. Guys like Pods and Garcia aren't going to react well to being publicly "called out." For Christ's sake, Pods is still taking his at bats out to the field with him and Garcia already thinks management and the fans are trying to run them out of town. These guys are weak minded... its bad enough they have to hear what we fans are saying... You honestly believe Ozzie publicly calling them out would accomplish anything? Ozzie is doing the right thing: stay positive, if anything, get on them in private. Anderson (and Garland) are made of stronger stuff. They react well to being dressed down. Jon didn't bat an eye when Ozzie blew up at him... When Ozzie started talking about sending BA down, BA stepped up, he started making much better contact and his offense improved tremendously while his defense remained stellar. Ozzie isn't the best in game manager, but he makes up for it ten fold by getting the most out of his guys. Ozzie isn't going to settle for BA becoming a Loretta clone... He knows BA can be a dynamic player and I believe BA is going to meet those expectations.

Shame the Sox won... I wanted another reason to call for Ozzie's head

This team needs to make some changes...

on BMacs myspace it says he likes Ann Coulter... with that being the case... I bet BMac hates everything Ozzie stands for (free love, communism).... Ozzie can probably smell the hate on him and because of that... won't give him his shot. /green /green BTW, I'm firmly in Ozzie's, Pod's, and Uribe's corner. -
QUOTE(shoota @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) Is Liriano returning? If yes, when? I don't have a time table but minny sports radio was saying he has at least started doing long toss... the pitching coach said he was playing catch with him and his hand hurt when he was done... I'd say he sounded pretty optomistic...

I'm going to be so pissed when Ozzie quits because of the crap thrown on him by the fans and media. Its alright, though. You can't take his rings. -

hit and runs make my pee pee hard -
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) We might not be able to set it anyway, because if we win the wildcard it could come down to the last game of the season. couldn't the same be said for the division?
-
hahah the kc broadcaster are making fun of the fan for not making the play.
-
poop, jermaine dropped it!
-
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) GO SOX! I'll be listening on XM Satelitte Radio I'm tuning into KC's flagship station!
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) The thing is I can't see them taking these guys from a Charlotte team that will be in the playoffs for the first time in a long while. but don't all the teams have to deal with losing guys to september call ups.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) NIce Pods, but you are still worthless. psst... pods isn't black.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) It does not seem like we have a hit a lot of homers recently, yet we are winning. Coincidence? I think it has had a little more to do with the pitching...
-
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) Good job Freddy. Now take a shower, and hand it over to the BP he is only 84 pitches.... with a stretch of like 20 games straight left... do you really want the bull pen in so soon?
-
woah... cleaveland is wrecking KC in the first inning. That game is getting ugly quick. For gods sake!!@! Pull him...
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) I say any scenario that gets us into the playoffs. After taht I don't care who we have to play because you got to go through the best to win it all. Whether thats the Yanks, BoSox, Tigers, Angels, A's and than Mets or whoever in the NL. We don't pitch and play good baseball it'll all be moot, but I really could care less how we get in, as long as we do get in (ie wild card or division and who we play). I do care that we get in by playing good baseball cause that would give us a fighting chance in the post-season. having homefield advantage couldn't hurt, though.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) Glad to see MR. ANderson BLIP! /pupils dialate

does the defecting Cuban 2nd baseman the sox are allegedly going after have the speed to lead off?
-
QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 09:56 AM) Neither. Let them trade wins while the Sox streak, and the Sox gain on both. The Sox can take care of their own business vs. Detroit later. :yeahthat:

QUOTE(beck72 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 07:11 AM) A few things to look for: 1] Minor throws a lot of pitches, and can miss the zone. The sox wait him out, make him work, they can get the Det. bullpen by the 5th, 6th inning if not knock him out before. 2] If Freddy can live up to his billing as a big game, 'throws well in the day' pitcher. 3] See if the middle of the lineup comes back strong after an 'off day' on Sat. Thome, PK and Dye have been feasting on pitchers mistakes. A young guy like Minor should give them a few good pitches to hit 4] Pods and Tad vs the RHP Minor. Both hit horribly vs LHP on the year [and went 0-for vs Rogers] and could get back to hitting like they did on Fri. 5] See if the tigers panic a bit [defensive lapses, pitches left up in the zone, not hitting their spots, hitters trying to do too much] Prediction--Sox finish the sweep if the pitching comes through. With a rested pen, the sox should be alright even if Freddy has an off day. I don't know how true this is, but on another board someone said that the only difference in the line up today is that Cintron starts for Iguchi. BA is in center
