  1. QUOTE (coco1997 @ May 2, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Let's see how the rest of the season plays out for Latos before we start putting him up there with Sale and Q. If you remove the anomaly that was 2015, Latos is 56-40 with a 3.27 ERA for his career. I don't think he'll go undefeated, but we can have some confidence that he'll put up a good year.
  2. Watching the Blue Jays play defense really opened my eyes to how good the Sox defense has been. They cover so much group and they're positioned well. It seems like everything gets fielded cleanly. The Blue Jays are slow and clunky comparatively.
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 05:02 PM) Kenny Williams got Laroche to retire. Does that give him a leg up for executive of the year? Yes QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) Depends what they do withe the money.. Right now the position hasn't been upgraded. Screw the money, that's just a bonus, the position has absolutely been upgraded. It's simple addition by subtraction. Toxic people in a small group will absolutely drag the whole group down. Last year, I can't think of a single moment when we never saw players hanging out together, posting pictures on social media together, or celebrating for and with each other. We're seeing all of that now. This team has some character. Last year isn't all on LaRoche, but I have no doubt he and his kid had something to do with the team not gelling.
  4. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) Why no challenge? Its clear Odor pushed him off I believe intent has to be called on the field.
  5. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) Lawrie kind of reminds me of Swisher.. All that energy and brotastic attitude. Just hope he can play better here. Lawrie is the kind of bro you want on a sports team though.. Super into his athleticism and body. Swisher was the kind of bro who should have stuck to drinking and trying to be a comedian.
  6. Lawrie is certainly growing on me.. Dude has some fire!
  7. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) How much did it cost to upgrade to X1? As others said, self-install was free. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) I wish you could stream those live channels outside of your home WiFi network though. THAT would be the real game changer. There are a lot of channels that I can stream out of home. Unfortunately it looks like regional networks and premium sports networks aren't available.
  8. Finally upgraded to X1 from Comcast. The operating system is nice and generally smooth/easy to use, but the ability to stream almost all live TV (including Sox games) to my iPad is the killer feature. Ironically for Comcast, that feature alone is going to allow me to ditch my second box all together, because I've only kept it for live sports in the bedroom. Now I'll just use the streaming service and save $30/month. Less money for Comcast!
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 17, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) Anyone know where/when we can buy the fathers day hat? Mother's Day hats just went online.. about 3 weeks before the holiday. This also correlated pretty closely with the reveal of the products, so it's hard to say if that'll be the trend for the rest of them. Memorial Day caps should be next, then Father's Day. I'll do my best to update this thread when they're available.
  10. Looks like I'll have 7 new hats soon.. Good thing I actually like most of them this year.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) Here is the Deadspin piece. This is a better piece of journalism than the first one. Can we get LaRoche's name to be recognized as a curse word around here so it's starred out like b**** or s***?? His name makes me cringe.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) Albers is in the zone. En fuego. He's feelin' it. Albers looked dirty!
  13. QUOTE (jhonnydanks @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) Well, that whole "no expectations" thing I talked myself into lasted exactly 4 games. Now anything less than an ALCS trip is unacceptable. don't stop get it get it It is important to note that Oakland is likely to be the worst team in the AL. Gotta win the games you're supposed to win though.
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 08:04 AM) I don't know why it's hard to believe that Rollins is simply better than Saladino at this point. "But Eminor3rd, Rollins had a s*** season last year. Have you seen his 2015 numbers?" Yes, I have. Have you seen Saladino's 2015 numbers? They're substantially worse. I think Saladino has a little upside, and I think it's clear that Rollins is on the decline, but it's not uncommon at all for these types of veterans to bounce back to a significant extent after their career worst seasons -- and even Rollins' career-worst season was 19 points of wRC+ higher than the "exciting" Saladino rookie campaign that has everyone so sold on him. Rollins' strong Spring just adds confidence in a bounceback, and a Rollins bounceback clearly has more upside than a Saladino "breakout." Rollins is one year removed from a 4-win season. And if Rollins IS cooked, Saladino is still an option. There's just no reason to be anything but pleased that Rollins earned the job. Omar Vizquel averaged .222 in 2008 and averaged .276 (very close to his 24-year average) in his 2010 season with the White Sox.. It happens.
  15. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) Perfect for me! The real victory though is that the opener isn't followed by an off day, for once. My victory is that I planned my vacation around opening week so I'll be posted up, watching as much baseball all day and night for a week! Best week of the year!
  16. QUOTE (OnlyGillis @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 11:22 PM) He must have a terrible agent. Edit: I just looked up his agent and the guy has Pujols and Votto. I wonder what he has against Jimmy. Maybe Rollins really believes in himself, especially given his competition. The player ultimately makes the call.
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) ummm i am wondering what Pedro Alvarez accept to play for the white sox??? ok, i am being greedy. but..... Pedro would be an awesome addition. He strikes out a ton, but retains some pop.
  18. My bad- I had forgotten my Yahoo account credentials, so it was a pain to get back in.. No problem to relinquish the spot though, I'll keep an eye out for an opening next time.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) I need emails to send invites. [email protected]
  20. I'll play. I've been relatively successful in my 8 years of fantasy baseball playing and I've been looking for a baseball keeper or two to get involved with.
  21. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Feb 5, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) I still need a playing card from ChrisLikesBaseball and Joshua Strong. How are everyone's feeling about the "offline draft"? If everyone will be pretty active and online fairly often I would love to do this idea. If everyone likes this idea I will set up a free forum where we can have the draft and discuss the league etc. On a side note, I think the idea of everyone putting $5 in a "pot" to send the winner is a great idea. I will not make it mandatory though. The league will remain free with a "pot" on the side. The "pot" will go to the person who finishes the highest out of those who put into the "pot". Ideally I'd like at least 3 more people (not counting BigHurt3515). I'll take the 2 of hearts
