  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) Is this actually a question? Do I want AAAA slugger or a GG defensive CF with a solid bat in his rookie year? Tough question... Borchard ABs 230 OBP .322 OPS .722 Ave .230 HRs 10 RBI 28 Ks 66 Ok so Borchard had 2/3r the at bats Anderson had. Anderson ABs 365 OBP .290 OPS .649 Ave .225 HRs 8 RBI 33 Ks 90 Anderson solid with the bat? As I see it right now BA barely has a AAA bat. BA does play good defense but it wasn't even enough to play CF full time over a career utility player.
  2. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) Borchard anyone? Don't laugh. Borchard actually had a better offensive year than Anderson in half the at-bats. Joe's defense is nothing to sneeze at either. I'm not saying it was a bad trade because the Sox got a great reliever out of it. Considering the year BA had, which would you rather have? JB or BA?
  3. Linky According to this article in today's Sun-Times, it appears his problem is mechanical. It basically says he's been relying too much on his sidearm stuff. When he does go over the top, he's inconsistent and is unable to locate it properly. It doesn't make any sense to hide an injury. Remember what happened last year when Damaso hid an injury from Ozzie? You could make an argument that if Jose gets on track, he would be more important than having Thome in the lineup. During the games Thome missed the past week, the Sox offense more than stepped up.
  4. I think it's a decent idea as the Indians use Grady Sizemore as a leadoff hitter and he's not the protypical leadoff man. However, do you want to put that much pressure on a rookie on a contending team?
  5. Oh let's see....the Sox averaged 9 runs per game on the ROAD versus Cincinnati and the last game vs. Texas. The Sox stopped scoring in game 2 when the Cardinals changed their signs, which also coincided with a PITCHING CHANGE. Mulder and Marquis were leaving the ball over the fat part of the plate. When you're pitching against one of the top offenses in baseball, they tend to score LOTS OF RUNS. Yah Reyes was real good and I give him creidt. But, the Sox tend to have difficulty against pitchers they've never seen before. Duncan, just shut up already.
  6. That sucks. Just when his average was within shouting distance of his weight.
  7. Here's the recap of his two innings against the Injuns. 7th inning - B. Broussard walked - B. Broussard to second on wild pitch - B. Broussard to third on wild pitch - R. Belliard walked - T. Hollandsworth popped out to second - A. Boone singled to right, B. Broussard scored, R. Belliard to second - R. Vazquez popped out to first - G. Sizemore flied out to shallow left 8th inning J. Michaels homered to deep left - T. Hafner hit by pitch - V. Martinez flied out to deep center - B. Broussard popped out to shallow left - R. Belliard grounded into fielder's choice, T. Hafner out at second He just can't find the zone. Ozzie has said many times he doesn't care how hard a guy can throw. If he can't find the zone he won't be with the team.
  8. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) So Guillen brought in a right hander to face the lefty? Was Sean supposed to drill Blalock? I don't think he threw at him. If you guys remember correctly he was really wild versus the Indians in that 10-8 game where the Sox scored six in the ninth inning. Wild pitch, 2 walks, 2 hits, and 2 earned runs. This was eventually the winning margin. I'm sure Ozzie took him out and was pissed because he couldn't find the strike zone. With that said, I'm sure he will be optioned back to the minors before the game is even over.
  9. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) Any truth to the rumors from Bruce Levine about trading McCarthy and Crede for Chavez? Is this a joke? I thought that was last year's rumor.
  10. Am I the only one that thinks we already drafted Lance Broadway? Obviously I hope they will both turn out to be very good major leaguers.
  11. I would have absolutely no problem with a gay teammate. Working in the entertainment industry, I have many gay co-workers. As long as they do their job we won't have any issues. Just because there's a homosexual in the locker room, it doesn't mean they're automatically going to try to sleep with you. Even if he does, you still have the option of saying no. Just as if a woman in which I have no attraction makes a pass at me, I can say no. I'll have to disagree with that poster who said "I don't go around marching in Straight Pride Parades and putting Straight Pride bumper stickers on my car, so why should they?" When was the last time you heard of a person disowned by their family for being straight? When was the last time a person was beaten up for being a heterosexual? People are not harassed and beaten because they are heterosexual. When was the last time someone told you "Quit acting straight you hetero!" ?
  12. Despite every Cubs game being sold out, there's thousands of empty seats. How many seats do you think is sold to their scalping agency (Wrigley premium)? The Trib co. artificially increases demand by allocating thousands to their agency. That's what happens when the Trib co. gets greedy. I hope no one buys tickets and they just wind up choking on them.
