  1. In all honesty I think that unless King George gets involved here, the 3 yr/36 mill is gonna be the best offer Colon sees this offseason. Whether or not K-Dub leaves the offer on the table for Colon to come back to, that remains to be seen.
  2. Not Carlos...He's on an upswing and is definitely a keeper for a while! Problem is his salary is going to start going up big time. He got paid $3.3 mil this year and is looking at least $5 this year, plus some big raises in the next couple years. The question that lies in that is could we find someone to take his place for less with the same or more skill than he possesses? Rowand has a while before he gets there, and guys like Ramierez will cost up the ass. He's worth the amount of which he is asking for. He's gonna be even better than last year next year offensively and defensively. He's consistently improving and will become an elite player before long. I've got very high visions for Carlos! It has nothing to do with if we can replace Carlos, and if he is worth the money. The problem is will Carlos's exponentially increasing salaries fit into the Sox budget along with the other money we have already committed. Well, heres the decision...a 27 year old CLee who is improving every year, and just hitting his prime at around $5 mill, or a 29 year old Maggs who is at his prime right now at $14 mill. In my oopinion, if we can send Maggs to NYY for Soriano, I'm announcing that trade ASAP. I want CLee here for at least 2 more years, he should be the new #3 hitter.
  3. Paul McCartney wrote Rocky Racoon, and I believe he wrote Paperback writer also. Try again buddy... both songs are credited to both overrated musicians:) should I say, wanna be musicians:) Holy f***in s***!!! Tell me you are saying such things PA just to get a rouse from all us posters. I don't think that there should much argument to the statement that McCartney/Lennon was the best song writing duo that there has been in my lifetime, and IMO ever. The evolution that the band itself went through from 1962 to 1970 alone is more than most bands will ever attain, and the contrasting styles that Lennon and McCartney produced together will IMO NEVER be matched. Theres a lot of grbage being made since the Beatles that people claim is "great songwriting" but please, when compared to a real songwriting duo, it all falls short.

Seattle is as cash-strapped now as they have ever been under Nintendos ownership. I don't think they will be the one with Matsui at SS. Anaheim, OTOH....
  5. good Lord....no more Idle Hands pics, man you are killin me....That girl is too much.
  6. Hmmm, interesting....I may consider this next year. I have been to Picnic in the Park before, that was tons of fun, and I am going to Spring Training next year also. Time to start saving the $$$ it looks like.

I think that economically, Kazuo Matsui makes TOO MUCH sense for the Sox. You can make a large amount on merchandising alone, you fill a much needed spot in the field, you fill the Top of the Lineup speed/OBP need, and you get the media attention that JR so desperately desires. Unfortunately, knowing how JR operates, theres no chance he takes a shot at Matsui, Reinsdorf probably sees him as both unsignable due to other teams possible interest, and too risky, being that he hasn't proven his ability in AMerican baseball.
  8. No, Forkit...see...its much easier for most people just to b**** and whine about the organization not offering up King George-like money to every FA out there...then it is to actually understand that the economics behind this organization have been the same since JR owned it, and its not gonna all of a sudden change in 2003 just because.
  9. Good Lord, Jessica Alba is smokin'!!! Ever since I watched Idle Hands, saw her in that tight shirt and short shorts with a robe on, I've been fascinated....They don't grow 'em like that here in South Carolina!!!

My last visit there to post was on the day that I joined here. Last May I think? I remember seeing ya on there Nuke....don't miss it at all
  11. Hmmm, I didn't see anything at the door. Maybe I just missed it. The John McEnroe tennis bit was GREAT!! Bubs as Mel was pretty funny too. Who the hell is Ozone?
  12. Gotcha....but like my other post said, I'm pretty sure that we have $37.875 mill tied up in our payroll already in 5 players. With the potential Maggs trade, that wuold drop it down to $23.875 mill in 4 players. Konerko and his $8 mill would be GREAT to get off the books, but I don't see it happening.
  13. Well, I was Foulke Supporter #1 the whole time he was here, and after the fiasco of 2002 with KW, it was pretty obvious that Keith wasn't gonna get any shot to reclaim his job in the second half of 2002. With that being said, I believe that as long as KW is here, Keith Foulke will not be here. Hell, he's got no reason to come back to the Sox, he'll get paid by some other organization, and not have to deal with K-Dub. Koch is your closer, like it or not. All we can do is hope and prey that the "Tommy-John Fairy" comes by his house this offseason and grants him 5 MPH back on his fastball.
  14. Hmmm, Jason, I would rather do the Maggs for Soriano alone. Now of course that means we have an opening in RF. With Lee in LF, that leaves AaRow and a FA for the other 2 OF positions. Does that mean Reed will get a shot? I dunno, but our OF power would go from a strength to a weakness.
  15. Just some good ole entertainment on the Web.... Strong Mad as Magnum P.I., classic......"HIGGINS!!!!"
  16. I can't. But I believe Colon has at least two takers in Boston and the NYY. And I am in 100% agreement that Weaver should not be an option. I think you are half way right there, Killa. Theres no way that BOston ccan afford COlon right now, unless they move someone else high salary. The Yankees, OTOH, I'm sure will give him what he wants, and all the "I don't want to play for the Yankees" garbage will be forgotten. All it takes is the green to change one's mind.
  17. A perfect example of why not every deal should be based on just statistics alone. Garland couldn't carry Colon's jocky strap. Not to get too technical here, but lets look at the numbers that Colon put up at age 24, compared to what Garland did this year (he was 23) First, BARTOLO COLON: Pitching Year Team G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 1997 CLE 19 17 4 7 0 1 0 94.0 107 66 59 12 45 66 5.65 1.62 .000 Now, JON GARLAND: Pitching Year Team G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 2003 CHA 32 32 12 13 0 0 0 191.2 188 103 96 28 74 108 4.51 1.37 .260 Lets give the kid a bit of time before we say he can't hold Colons jock strap, cuz Colon wasn't exactly Sandy Koufax at the same age.
  18. Can you prove that Killa? Cuz no one else seems to think he was 100% at all. Like I said, it is my wish that he doesnt pick up a baseball until February. Give him 5 months without putting any pressure on that surgically repaired arm.
  19. In my LV times, I have stayed at Treasure Island, Bellagio, Imperial Palace, Barbary Coast, Excalibur, Harrahs, Tropicana, Casino Royale on the Strip. For me, I LOVE Barbary Coast; for the price, the location, you cannot beat it. Plus it has that Old School Vegas feel to it.
  20. Based on financial implications, and bullpen roles, I'm pretty sure that you will see Damaso as the setup guy, and Koch as the closer again, barring injuries. Without Marte setting up, we have no bridge to the 9th inning. And face it, if Koch comes back in Spring Training relatively close to 100%, it will be this way. Gordon will almost certainly walk, to the Phillies or another club dumb enough to pay him $5 mill per year for 2 years.

Hey Alex...who did your sig? I want someone who knows how to make one, and not my Dollar Store style of making them to redesign mine for now. I want the same pic as I have now, but set up better.
  24. Now you are next Steff...having a sig with a SOx player that didn't do very well is unacceptable!!!

I will admit, and apologize, that I was a WSI person for quite a while until I found this site. I had quite a few rousing post wars on WSI before I just decided that it was pointless to talk to most of the folks there. Happy to be here now!
