  1. I LOVE the way Carl plays the game, but still not sold on his ability to play CF consistently..I have been all for trading CLee for a while, but right now I have no faults with anyone on the team, 'cept for our long reliever.

    Koch

That makes 2 of us, man....the only player I have been REALLY against on this team was Jimenez, cause the guy just flat out didnt play intense baseball. Someone send him a tape of Carl Everett playing, that guy plays the game the way you are supposed to, and plays smart. Jimenez was a complete blockhead on the basepaths.

I was saying that Koch has only blown 4 saves this year...but if he is righted...we have 3 guys that can all close if necessary...what we do need is an innings eater out of the pen who won't get shelled a la Glover.
  4. Hasn't Giles been playing more LF than CF lately? We need a Prototypical CFer...a guy with speed, and good baserunning instincts...NOT someone who tries to pull the ball and hit it out...HRs are not what we need from a leadoff hitter.

Hmmm...this isn't hard to figure out actually...155 saves in 320 games, only 49 decisions....almost a K per inning, only 34 HR allowed in 320 games...the 9 he has given up this year are the most he has given up in his career, don't tell me something isnt wrong with him. His stats last year speak for themselves...good ERA, 44 saves, good WHIP...what the f*** is a prototypical closer to you? the stats from 2002 scream "Closer mentality" to me

Only 4 LDF....less than the other guys...if he gets righted...our Pen is good, with the exception of GLover. We would then have 3 guys that could close. Marte does struggle with runners on, but he did well in that position tonight.

Long reliever you mean, right LDF? I still like Wright in that role for now...I wouldnt lose any love over not having Glover out there.

I still believe that plain and simple, the guys arm was WAY OVERWORKED in the past...i'd love to be proven wrong by Koch and Coop, and he get his off-speed stuff working, then 95 is plenty good.
  9. Jason, who is out there at SS, potential FA or in the minors, aged 25 or younger that could be a MLB SS? I'm tired of waiting...and Jose can't play too much longer

I'm thinking NO WAY we make Marte a closer...I love him as the nasty lefty that can take us to the closer, whoever that may be...and he can close when necessary, but not reguarly. If we get Gordon to stay next year, with Gordon, Porzio/Wunsch(one of them), and a righted Koch...I love our bullpen.,..we just need that long reliever...cause i'm about tired of Glover...
  11. This is something I probably wouldn't have said with the team playing the way they were in May, but I'm all for keeping Joe....he makes some REAL solid plays over at 3rd, and theres no doubt that when he quickens up his swing, he will be dangerous. I like having a cornerstone third baseman that can be here for a while, a la Robin V. Now, if we can just find us a shortstop age 25 or younger, then I'd love our infield.

Yeah....dasox....I'm gonna have to ask you to go ahead and come in on Saturday.....yeah, you need to go ahead and come in on Sunday as well.....we lost a couple guys and we need to sorta play catchup...thanks alot

    Koch

I completely agree...someone, preferably Coop need to get with Billy, talk and figure out what the deal is. He was hitting 95 tonight...good for most pitchers, but not for Koch. If Coop can get the guy righted, and I think he can, then Marte, Koch and Gordon are DEADLY in the bullpen.

    Koch

Yeah, mike12345...if ya havent noticed...most Sox fans are quick to give up on ANYONE that KW gets, cause if he makes a trade, in most of their minds the acquisition automatically sucks. You all say he is awful, and it was a bad trade. BULLs***....look at the past numbers,....Koch was the prototypical closer, and that what most people pissed and moaned about last year when Foulke was struggling. Sorry, MLB players go through bad times, ask Paul Konerko, ask Joe Crede, ask Miguel Olivo...it f***ing happens, get over it. You guys expect us to have All-Star caliber players at every f***ing position on the 25 man roster....it can't happen, cause guys struggle, and Koch is struggling mightily. No one seems to mind the fact that our ACE gave up 5 runs in 7 innings, but I'll be damned if the 1 run Koch gives up is reason for everyone to whine. Get a grip. He's here, he will be next year, and he will be the closer again next year....when he is back on, feel free to jump back on the Koch bandwagon, I'll be waiting for ya.
  15. Capn12

    Koch

28 games he has pitched in, he gave up 0 runs. 16 games he has given up 1 or more.
  16. And Marte has to finish what GOrdon can't...but all in all, its still a Sox win.
  17. This game is taking a weird turn....Reichert just imploded there...
  18. This loss, if it is a loss, goes on the offense in the first 3 innings when Halladay was on the ropes, and NO ONE could get a real hit. 2 would-be double play balls that were misplayed are NOT the way to score runs productively!
  19. Because Rick White and Tom Gordon can pitch in EVERY single damn game...jesus..thats a arm injury waiting to happen.
  20. 7 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 7 K...he had it till that 1st pitch to Wells.
  21. Hawk: One thing about Sandy, he'll get down and dirty for ya at the plate. DJ: He ain't a scared!

This whole organization low-balled Foulke while he was here, but I do think that if they had decided this was gonna be the year to make a run at it, we shoulda kept him for the last year of his contract, then let him walk. At that point we go get Koch if he is healthy, or whoever else KW wanted. But you MUST put this failure all on KW, not Koch...he is a fighter, and I still think he will be effective again.

Like I've said before, JR doesn't pay anyone $6 mil to be a mop up pitcher. Koch will hopefully figure out the problem, Coop will discover if its something they can "fix" or not, and he will be back doing his job. Gordon is an arm injury waiting to happen, but yes, until that happens or he falters, he should be closing. That should give time to figure out what went wrong with Koch's arm.

    Koch + Me

I said that when Gordon falters, and he will, that Koch should be given his job back.

    Koch + Me

I'll have confidence in him, cause I know that if all is right with his arm(which is another issue completely), he can get the job done. I always find it interesting how so many people could b**** about Foulke the way he started 2002, then love him when he is traded away from the team.
