  1. I believe it was the Twins who got the job done in 87. Also the last memorable Tigers year before this one.
  2. I'm not as much worried about that per se as having a 1 run lead in a game where we can clinch the division or wild card.
  3. Jones worries me a bit as closer. Sure he gets it done more often then not, but later in the year as we get closer and closer to a playoff spot, we may need a closer who won't play with fire as much as Jones does sometimes.
  4. Just a little stat for you. With the win today, our starters are 15-2 this month, with an ERA around 2.9. Great stuff right there.
  5. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 05:25 AM) Todd Jones? Are you kidding me? Yeah, 6.39 ERA that is just incredible. I'm not saying he doesn't struggle, but he still more often then not will get the save. That's all that matters in the end.
  6. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) Your starters on the other hand are mysteries. Rogers is the only sure thing and we know he pitches worse after the break. Bonderman is probably going to be even better after the break but who knows how the Verlanders and the Maroths (how will he be after in injury) etc.. be afterwards. That is true, but our bullpen is incredible. You got Zumaya who can just blow stuff by you, Rodney who is equally impressive, and Jonesy who though he does struggle more often then not gets the job done in the end.
  7. Bet you can't wait till you're through playing the AL Central.
  8. For anyone who thinks we will fade or fail to win the division this year, consider this statistic. Through 78 games we are 53-25. That means that in order to reach 100 wins this year we only need to go 47-37 the rest of the way. If you don't think we can do that, or do better then that then you're kidding yourself. That's not to say the Sox can't win 100 games or more themselves, and if they can more power to them. But if we can get at least 100 wins (which I believe we will do if not better), then we'll have set ourselves up to have a fairly good chance at winning the division.
  9. If you ask me, there's no way Minnesota comes close to us. Right now they're still 11 games back, even though they've been hot. So even if we do fall into 2nd at some point, I'm not too worried.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) Caught the last two innings and that young kid hit a bomb for his 1st career hr. RObertson pitched very well in a game that could have been much closer if the Astros didn't play s*** defense behind the Rocket. I agree with that. We benefited from two huge errors in the 7th. I couldn't believe that that Astro player threw to 2nd to try and get Monroe. He had no chance at all, he should have ate the ball, no question. But because he didn't, it led to 2 runs we otherwise may not have had. Also though, our pen came up huge. Zumaya did an amazing job getting out of the 1st and 2nd, no outs jam in the 8th. That was critcial IMO.
  11. Nope, gets em 1-2-3. 10th shutout of the season, leads the bigs.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 07:05 PM) Clemens losing it. Walks 2 in a row. He was losing his temper as well. Had he not came out when he did, he may have been ejected for arguing calls.
  13. Better watch out, with him maybe those are next.
  14. I know this is about rude people, but I thought I interject a nice story here for a change. When my buddy and I went to the Tigers/D'Rays game about a week or so ago now, I found this really great section right down in the left field corner, that was more or less standing room only. Plenty of room to stretch out and stuff. So I convinced my friend to move down there with me. Shortly after we got there, this usher came over, and asked if these were our seats. We figured we were busted. But actually the guy was cool about it, he talked to us off and on the rest of the night and everything. Just wanted to show the better side of ushers.
  15. "That chair had been bothering me the whole game. It needed to get out of the dugout."
  16. After seeing that I really want to see the other one described before. That sounds even better then this one was. Anyone know if or where I can find that video?
  17. QUOTE(jenksd @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) ugh You do realize I was paying you a compliment right? As frustrating as it's been to see you guys win and win and win and comeback like you have, gotta give credit where it's due. I'd say it's definitely due here. The fact that you were down 9-1, and rallied to tie it is amazing to me.
  18. Gotta hand it to you guys, you are something else. You're a lot like us in ways, you never ever give up.
  19. Good stuff. I give his slide about a 2 though lol.
  20. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) You don't agree that the Sox are the best team in the division? That very well may be, but as of right now we own the best record in the majors. By a slim margin perhaps, but the best record nonetheless.
  21. Yeah really, the numbers speak for themselves.
  22. Keep in mind we still have 13 games left against you. I somehow doubt our head to head record will look like it does right now at season's end.
