We're not the Cubs.

Herm Schneider has lost 15 pounds and lowered his cholestorol 50 points.

Who gives a s***? Even with a nice piece of ass like Couric as the anchor, nobody under 50 watches the network evening news anymore.

I wonder if this is the same woman who breaks into Letterman's house?

Cliff Politte seems like a good guy and its always nice to see dwarfs try to succeed in the big people world, but if Guillen ever puts him into a close game again I'll Charles Wittman his ass from my upper deck seat before he gets to the mound. Other than that, I forgot how much better I sleep after a win than I do after a loss. I feel rejuvinated today.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) BS call was the only reason they beat Warren in the football playoffs last year. Although your QB was a top notch athlete. I don't remember any controversial call swaying the game either way. With the talent Warrren had, it probably was the best opportunity Warren will ever have to beat Maine South in the playoffs. Now they'll go back to getting spanked by the Hawks.

Unless Carl Crawford can be our set-up man, he will not fix our problems.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) Yep...that's the ticket. Call up another minor league guy. Maybe we can finally give Scott Ruffcorn the shot he has always deserved.

Congratulations to the Maine South boy's volleyball team on their state championship today at Hoffman Estates. Along with having the best public football program in the state over the last 10 years, they can also succeed in other sports.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:11 AM) Maybe I just don't pay enough attention to the fans, but I've never seen the wave performed at a Sox game, and I typically sit out on the concourse in Center or Right. That said, I'm looking forward to Vazquez pitching. You sit on the concourse? Doesn't that clog foot traffic?

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) I stand by my previous statement. No one party governs the entire nation unless they control both the Active branches (non-Judicial) by over sixty members in the Senate, to block ANY filibuster. Otherwise, they all have to work each other and help one another by passing bills along, joining in coalitions, etc. etc. If you think any one party should fully govern, then go right ahead. The filibuster is a useless governing mechanism because the democrats don't have the stones to use it. For instance, when an idealogue like Sam Alito(aka Anton Scalia Jr.) was nominated to the Supreme Court.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) But, I get a bigger kick out of (back in the day) watching a 1990's Frank Thomas fouling off pitch after pitch, in a sort of chess-match with the pitcher, looking for the ONE pitch he can drive, and then like clockwork, gets the pitch and smokes it to deepest left-center for a home-run, knowing you were right there with him, pitch-for-pitch, knowing what he was thinking, what he was doing, and for a quick moment, Celebrating that blast with Big Frank, in a small way knowing what it must feel like to hit a ball 475 feet to LeftCenter for a homerun. You made me all misty eyed after reading this. I'd offer up the lives of my 3 closest friends if the baseball Gods would reincarnate the 24-year old Big Hurt and bat him third in our line-up.

QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) honestly i don't know off the top of my head, but LTP sends his regards from Miami. If you move Klingman out, our friend in Miami will go along.

Clemens' first Minor League start is with the Lexington Legends. Maine South alum Mark Ori is currently leading that team in HRs and RBIs, with a .300 average.......meanwhile Kolby Clemens is hitting .180 for them.

Rematch of ALCS games 1 and 5. -
QUOTE(greg775 @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Uribe batting fifth is a good idea. Bat him fifth for our Class A team til the all star break to get his head out of his ass. Why would you want to do that to the Intimidators? Do you have something against Kannapolis?

Who sits out during Interleague play?
MSHAWKS replied to The-Legend-Of-Pujols's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why even risk playing Thome at first? You don't lose much with Konerko in there instead and you can pinch hit Thome every game, virtually picking the ideal spot for him to hit. Its the difference between 1 at bat per game with no worry of Jim getting injured, or 4 at bats with the fear of injury. Those three at bats per game aren't worth it. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Softball is still for girls so A always applies. Take it easy on softball. The broken down, ex-high school football player, Al Bundy types need something to relive the glory days. Its not like southsider2k5 is playing soccer....... -
Somewhat off topic, but is anyone else not liking Hawk's "Suck em up, Joe" line when Crede fields ground balls. It sounds way to close to "Suck him off, Joe". While I'm sure Aramis does his best impression of Vito Spatafore in his free time, Crede doesn't look the type.

Izturis has a career on-base percentage of .295 and a slugging percentage of .338. Those are nearly as pathetic as Uribe's 2006 stats. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) Izturis career line: .261/.295/.338. End.of.discussion. You beat me to it. This guy completely sucks. In some ways I appreciate Juan Uribe after looking at these stats..........not really.

Now that this game is over, does anyone know the pitching match-ups for the weekend series against Texas?

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 31, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) please. Anderson is hitting .164 with 2 doubles as we turn the calendar to June. He's unlikely to smell .200, much less .225 by September. he needs to take the next flight to Charlotte. I wouldn't even spring for an airline ticket. I'd make him Greyhound his ass back to the minors.
