  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) You know where I stand, and considering the buyout option ($3M) and the option ($10M) we would have had to sign on to retain him, it wasn't exactly realistic. We wouldn't have had to give him the $10M option in order to retain him. We could have given him the buyout and then an incentive laden contract for 2006.
  2. Frank hit #35 today, a solo shot. He also has a two-run single.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 07:22 PM) My guess is the casual fan likes this crew less, while the more diehard fan could definately get into having DJ and Black Jack because you get a lot more baseball knowledge. Than again both McDowell and DJ are pretty funny guys so I think with time they could be the type of crew that not only is intelligent but also pretty funny to listen to (and sometimes you need some humor, especially if the team is getting clocked). I think Black Jack turned the gig down cause he'd only do TV (and even than I'm sure he's pretty busy with his band and other stuff) but I think we could be seeing the future duo, whenever Hawk retires (than again, that could be a long while). Or you could see Hawk maybe do a few less games a year with Black Jack or someone else doing 15-20 with DJ. Or dies.
  4. QUOTE(Dan @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) Mt. Carmel H.S. = 2006 6A? Champions. you heard it here first. actually 2nd. SI has them ranked 1st Overall in the state of Illinois. Mt. Carmel will be in 8A this year.
  5. I don't want that fat f*** pitching for the White Sox ever again. Just seeing a picture of the loud mouth lard ass makes me sick.
  6. I think Thome and Dye have been so similiar offensively that any order you bat them in is fine.
  7. Why does that E.T. look alike wave everyone home every chance he gets? This isn't Freshman B baseball, guys actually hit the cutoff man here.
  8. While Dylan might like him, I also read that Mick Jagger feels Ozzie misuses his bullpen and that Art Garfunkel doesn't like it when he starts Mackowiak in center.
  9. QUOTE(chiguy79 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) TB: 3-0 KC: 2-1 BOS: 2-1 CLE: 2-2 LAA: 1-2 OAK: 1-2 DET: 1-2 SEA: 3-1 CLE: 2-1 MIN: 1-2 18-14...we need two of these games to swing to get in. I think the WC will come down to the last series but don't like our chances in Minny. If we can get out of the gates hot here I will like our chances better. Hopefully, MIN pitching falters. Lets hope Santana contracts lepracy and the fingers on his left hand all fall off. Of course, I'm sure he would still shutout the Sox that last series pitching righty, but his five other remaining starts would be up for grabs.
  10. I'm not optimistic, given how we'll surely lose 2 of 3 that last series and our schedule is tougher than Minnesota's from here on out. The Tigers will pull it together and win the devision by 7 games.
  11. Did anyone else catch Hawk insinuating that the White Sox bullpen is equal to Minnesota. I believe it was right before that same bullpen s*** themselves in the 6th. What an asshole.
  12. 2005=biggest chicago sports aberration of all time.
  13. QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) Twins are a better team my AZZ! That Sox fan needs an azz kicking! Why, did he give up a three run homer to Hunter in the 6th?
  14. I wish the season were over today so I could quit wasting my f***ing time on this f***ing team.
  15. Maine South traveling to Indianapolis tommorow to take on Warren Central, the #4 team in the country, per Sports Illustrated. In truth, the last three Maine South teams were better equipped to take on a national power than this years squad. This game could be over by the half.
  16. Unless he throws 7 shutouts in a row to finish the season, Jon Garland has absolutely NO CHANCE at the Cy Young award.
  17. AJ, with his s***ty OBP and Slugging percentage, is extremely replacable.
  18. QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) out Well stated.
  19. What a heartless team. f*** you Alomar.
  20. God do I miss last years playoffs.
  21. This season, when all is said and done, will be considered a complete disappointment.

    in need of advice

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) Here's the thing... The goal of any good break up plan is to break it up for good AND at the same time, preserve the opportunity for meaningless sex down the road. In my life, I've found that the best thing to do is to react very calmly, and try to surprise her with how little it seems to bother you. Then find some other chick to hook up with... avoid the old chick for a while, but make sure she finds out through her friends that you're on to the next one. Always be cool.... friendly, but distant. Eventually, one day in college when you're home from spring break getting loaded in you're buddies basement and she's there, you'll remember that she probably is wondering why you took the break-up so well... then add alcohol, and you'll probably nail her. As an aside, I recommend trying not to have any real feelings about a girl until sometime in the later half of college. There's no reason to let a real relationship with all kinds of crappy emotion junk tie you down when you want to go out drinking with the dudes from your frat or your dorm floor. Odds are, if you never actually date the girls, word will get out among chicks that you're a mystery... then a these dumb girls will want to be the one to tame you... figure you out. I have no idea what the hell goes on in thier minds that this happens, but its the way things work. good luck. and remember, anything worth doing is worth doing to excess. Excellent post. This is a text book hookup manuever taught in Cheap Sex:101. Of course, like any well drawn up play, the key here is in the execution. He_Gawn, you must remember not to do anything silly, like pouring out your heart to this girl. In fact, it is best not to have feelings of the heart. Ever. About anything. Women and children can afford to have these feelings, but not young men looking to get laid. Anyway, good luck and keep us posted. Oh, and if things start to get nasty when you and this girl do break up and its clear there is nothing physical on the horizon for you two, tell her you slept with her best friend. Even if its not true, it will linger in her mind forever, hopefully driving a wedge between the once inseperable friends. I know it seems childish, but she's f***ing with your head right now. You should be enjoying a 3 game sweep of the Tigers, but instead you're fretting about this girl's phone call, which may or may not come tonight. You can't even enjoy the fact that we pulled within 5.5 games. Who does this b**** think she is, denying you that simple pleasure.
  23. How the hell can the Yankees enforce a lifetime ban with 50,00+ entering the stadium every game?
