  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) Ebert only likes artsy tartsy films that no one in the real world likes. He should review Independant movies only, and just get on with it. I pay no attention to the fat man with no film taste. If it is anything like batman begins then it will be great. I cant wait to see it now. I disagree with you on Ebert. The man gives 3 stars to nearly every piece of s*** main stream movie being made. I was actually shocked that a big studio release like Superman didn't get the 4 star treatment from Rog.
  2. If you got to this video via The Sports Guy's column on ESPN, click on the link for the Shining, it had me laughing my ass off.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) Again not making excuses for this guy but it clearly looks like he's not 100%, to me anyways. He is tiptoeing around out there in LF and he has no explosiveness running to 1B either. And if that's the case, the logical question becomes why don't they DL him? I wouldn't be shocked if that happens right after all these interleague games and perhaps building in the All Star break, assuming Anderson serves his 5 games during that time. I believe the injury is frustrating as hell to him, he wants badly to contribute but unfortunately he's taking the frustration into the field with him. Not good. To be honest, Pods has always looked like he's prancing around in the outfield and I've noticed no difference in his baserunning. Do you have any proof of Podsednik being injured or is this some Hangar-like theory you've conjured up?
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) Haha, Short Circuit. You know, I was really dissapointed that Johnny-five didn't get to nail Ally Sheedy in the first Short Circuit film. They shared a few seductive glances, a slow dance too, but nothing came of it.
  5. I've seen Frank Thomas passed over way too many times in terms of All-star selections to give a s*** anymore about the game and who appears in it.
  6. So does this mean they're capo regimes now, like Tessio and fat Clemenza?
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) You know, Im not hearing Zach, Slater and Kelly complaining that they cannot pay their bills. Hey screech, move on with your life. Put screech in the backburner and try something new, maybe an indie movie or something. Tell me about it. If Screech saves his house, next thing you know Boner from Growing Pains and Buddy from Charles in Charge are going to want hand outs too.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) Every once in a while he needs to get checked for worms too. And he licks his private parts clean after every White Sox win......
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) I think there are far more worthy charities for people to give their money . I'd rather flush 15 dollars down my toilet. Maybe if it were Kelly Kapowski's house though.....
  10. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) I'm not a fan of AL and NL teams adopting the other league's rules when they are the visitor. I propose that no matter which team is the home team during interleague play, the AL should keep its DH rule and the NL should keep its pitchers bat rule. This rule change should apply in all regular season interleague games as well as all All-Star and World Series games. Are you out of your f***ing mind? This is the most ridiculous thing that I've ever read on any fan site anywhere. How about national league batters have to hit blindfolded as well? And play defense on their knees.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 11:40 AM) He's only hitting .253 right now.....the OBP is still around .350 though since he's drawing a lot more walks. And like I said, unless he stops drawing walks or hits below his career .275 average, his OBP should be .375. Not sure what part of that you don't understand. I'll bet you 100 dollars his OBP at the end of the year isn't .375. Actually his career OBP is .345, his OBP last year, his "All-star" year, was .351.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 10:48 AM) There is no chance of that happening. In fact, the only way his OBP ends up below .375 is if he stops walking or hits below his career average. He's not doing well right now, but he'll bounce back just like he did in late April. Pal, his career OBP is .351, only one point higher than the .350 that you say he has no chance of slipping below. Are you delusional?
  13. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) And replace him with who? Ozuna, who doesn't play LF well and whose OBP will be lower? Fields, who hasn't played LF at all and hasn't seen major-league pitching yet? If Pods fails to put up a .350 OBP and steals less than 30 bases this year (or has significat groin poblems again), I'm all for looking for an alternative. But he currently has a .344 OBP, has already swiped 21 bags, and his healthy, so I don't think that's going to happen. There's no point in replacing him with an inferior player. If his OBP is under .350 for the season, the Sox should go find a different leadoff hitter for 2007. No matter how many bases his steals.

    QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) It's a fair question. The pitcher can shake the catcher off I guess. Sox pitchers have so much faith in both Pierzynski and Widger but I think this is where the pitching coach comes into play, he can tell them to work inside more. I think Coop needs to tell AJ, more so than the pitchers at this point, to work inside more. 90% of the time he is set up middle/away. A pitcher isn't going to throw in on a batter if his catcher is set up on the outside corner.

    QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) First of all, he shouldn't have to tell anybody on his team to do anything. They should know. Not only did Vazquez not plunk a guy, he didn't even make them move their feet. And I'm talking about after Pierzynski was hit the first time. There was no mistake IMO about Padilla's intent either time, but especially the first. That, to me, was a no doubter. Where is Vazquez the very next inning? No warning had been issued yet. Maybe getting drilled will give Pierzynski the idea that it's a good idea to pitch the opposition inside. Everything Vazquez got hurt on tonite was due to him throwing pitches on the outer half. The Sox starters need to do a lot better job establishing the inside strike, and part of that is the catcher's responsibility. It's a team game and lots of guys didn't do their jobs tonite. I agree with you on AJ calling for more pitches on the inside part of the plate. Hawk has constantly criticized Garland and Vasquez for not pitching inside, particularly Garland, and then you see AJ basically setting up in the opposite batters box. Why doesn't Hawk ever mention this?
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Why do you ask, if you're trying to start s***, don't. Thanks. Lighten up, I was joking around.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) No s***, really? I completely understand that. The point was, he threw right at the guy, nothing happened, so he had free reign to do it again. I'm not just talking about the rules, I'm talking about the rythym of the game. Never mind, what's the difference. Different people have different opinions. Also I'd appreciate you not quoting my posts, thanks, and I'll return the favor. Can I still quote your posts?
  18. f*** Javier. Leave him in and let his ERA suffer. This games over.
  19. QUOTE(minors @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) But why would a person want to kill there own child? It is murder in the worst sense. And you keep on thinking that way about the lord. Jerry Falwell, is that you?
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) http://dsc.discovery.com/news/briefs/20060...html?source=rss I wonder if FEMA will f*** up its response to these storms as well?
  21. QUOTE(minors @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:03 AM) Yes right again. Adoption is such a good option why kill a child when there is such a good alternative that works out well for the mother as well as the child. I just don't see how this could be a choice only if the mothers life is in danger or maybe in the case rape or incest. The only other reasons to get an abortion is to serve selfish purposes and will judged accordingly when the time comes. What time are you speaking of? The time after we die that we may or may not come face to face with a God that may or may not exist?
  22. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) If you were talking about getting a tattoo or a piercing I would agree but we are talking about another human life here. Well, the debate on when human life begins is an on going one. The arguements are old and the talking points on both sides are known to all. I don't feel like rehashing them here. I don't believe a month old fetus is human life, obviously you do. Niether of us will change the others opinion.
  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) By that logic you could murder your spouse in the "privacy" of your own home and say that was protected under the Constitution. You have to find where to draw the line. I agree. But any extension of privacy should reasonably include one's own body, no?
  24. QUOTE(minors @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) First of all I do not believe that murdering your unborn children is a constitutional right no matter what the courts say. The question is does the right to privacy that the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled exists in the Consitutution apply to a woman and her body? How can a right to privacy NOT include one's own body?
