Some fans are always confident that the Sox will overcome, turn it around and make it to the playoffs. They will feel this until the Sox are mathematically eliminated, no matter how flat they look and how bad they are playing.
Far too often this season, they have been playing like they've dropped dead. This includes play in the stretch run of a pennant race. How could they be so down? I don't know, but they sure have been.
Those two guys are reasons that I'm not entirely optimistic about his team's future. Both of them are old players and could go down with major injuries at any time. Plus, skills tend to diminish at their ages.
I think the Sox won't make it to the playoffs for the same reasons I've thought that for weeks:
1. The Sox are behind the Twins and Tigers in the race.
2. The Sox are a worse team than the Twins and the Tigers.
Bot the Twins and Tigers have proven themselves to be bette teams this year. And they have been considerably better in the stretch run.
Gload is a crappy OFer. In all honesty, he might be a little worse defensively than Pods. But Gloads is soooooooo much better of a hitter, that he would definitely be an improvement in LF.
The latter. Not every mistake loses the game. Ozzie put in the wrong pitcher and he got the team in trouble. Then he put the right pitcher in and the right pitcher got us out of trouble. That doesn't mean Ozzie did the right thing by starting with Hermanson.
