  1. All I’m saying is by 2026, framing will not matter anymore, as balls and strikes will not be called by humans. Of course that is probably around the time the Sox will master teaching it to their catchers.
  2. IDK, you do get to hobnob with Gus Varland.
  3. The biggest issue to me is almost everyone the bring up strikes out a ton and walks very little. I really thought Vaughn would be different. But that was wrong. Obviously, there has been a lack of talent, but there also seems to be a lack of development. And anyone they sign or trade for has the same issues as well.
  4. He was a good hitter for several years, but was he a smart hitter?
  5. When is the last time the Sox developed a player you would have no problem saying was a smart hitter? The weird thing is KW and RH at least used to be able to identify hitters, then for some reason, totally lost it. The early returns from Getz seem really poor.
  6. If the Sox don’t tender Sheets (I’ll believe it when I see it) someone will have to check on Schriffen. Losing Lopez and Sheets in a month, the guy will probably be curled up somewhere.
  7. Framing won't matter the next season the White Sox lose less than 100 games.
  8. I’m all for adding more catching. Hopefully Quero is at least half what we hope he is. I don’t think many people realize how bad Korey Lee was after his hot streak.
  9. Adam eEngel also had a huge Fall League. But it’s better to have a good one than bad one.
  10. We can hope. To me it all comes down to hitting gas. Hopefully, the issue was his health or correctable.. it would seem to me that issue would have reared its ugly head before 2024, so I have some hope. if you can’t hit gas, you’re screwed. He did have a good Fall League, but so did most.
  11. Getz assembling the 2024 offense puts him in the Run Prevention Hall of Fame.
  12. It does seem to be taking a long time filling out the staff. Makes me think, most are staying.
  13. Amazing how much money they are spending trying to figure out what would bring more fans to games. It seems they have given up on being successful being the driver. Looking for someone with other ideas.
  14. The pri ce tag is low. I just don't see the need of adding 32 year old bench pieces to this disaster.
  15. I’m calling the Sox and buying season tickets. This guy checks all the boxes. No power, doesn’t get on base, is over 30. Just what the team needs.
  16. I always get a kick out of people complaining about others complaining. The sire always sucks but you always read it. Makes no sense.
  17. The White Sox are in a worse situation now than they were when they traded Sale. Trading Sale was the right thing to do. Yes he had 2 great years right after he was traded. Say Crochet has 2 great years the next 2 years. How does that make the White Sox contenders? Sale was great again this year, but after those first 2 years in Boston, he spent the next five seasons either ineffective or unavailable while being paid more than any White Sox has ever been paid. The Sox need to trade Crochet while his stock is high. Maybe he is great the next couple of years, but with his history, chances are he will eventually be paid a lot of money to rehab.
  18. The way their schedule is the rest of the way, if they win, Flus stays. But they get beat or even go 4-4 and miss the playoffs, he's oot to go. He gets it to 9-8 with what they have left, I think he should come back. That isn't going to happen.
  19. I think it was $2.5 billion for the lakefront site. I think they will eventually wind up in Arlington Heights.
  20. I get this, but JR and the McCaskeys are at a low even for them. Getting public funding, at least anywhere near what they want, is going to be impossible.
  21. He is a one term mayor. He has already sealed his fate. Ran on no property tax increases.@ year and a half later he proposes a raise. No politician survives that.in one of the wards this past election they asked on a ballot if voters were OK with publicly funding a new Bears stadium. It was trounced. 79 percent said no.
  22. Probably, but that doesn't change much current site to new site. And if you spend $100 more drinking than normal, that's $100 less you will spend away from the area. These buildings are losers for states, and states now know it. The White Sox had little chance getting the state funding they desired if they were actually run properly and perennial contenders. Now as laughingstocks, they have no chance. It's funny, JR is using the same lines he did back in the 80s, and he pretty much got everything he wanted. Now he can't compete with no rent, a free park...Things would be no different at the new place. I hope it gets built. I really do. But if the state gives then anything more than infrastructure, any politician in my district loses my vote if they are for it.
  23. Chances are any beer money or going out for dinner money you dont spend because you don't like the neighborhood in Bridgeport, you will spend if visiting on the Gold Coast or some other neighborhood that you would be staying, or if you are from the area, around home. That's a net zero for Illinois. If you loved a Japanese restaurant but then found out the new one across the street was better, the new one would be "generating" revenue from you, but the one you had been a patron, would not. If more people were buying $15 beers from jerry Reinsdorf, fewer would be buying $6 beers from the bar a block from their house. I don't get where you think everyone with suddenly start spending thousands of dollars more than they are spending because JR built a new park. The reality is yes they will spend more than is being spent at the 78, but other areas are going to pay for that.
  24. How does the state make money? Any tax revenue generated will be offset by it not being generated elsewhere. They have lost their ass on every project like this they have provided funding. This one is going to be different? There is a huge demand for apartments by a White Sox park? People are going to be flooding into games because? For those who drive, it will be the biggest pain in the ass they have ever had. They will yearn for the days of a park right off the Dan Ryan. But hey, if you sit in the right area, you will get a view of the top third of the Sears Tower, nd any apartment towers your tax dollars help build. I don’t drive to games, and it’s closer to home. For me it would be good. But I don’t want the state strapped for cash to give them any. There are more important things to waste it on.
