  1. Probably, but at this point every team is figuring out their final spot or 2, and it seems doubtful to me if the Sox told Alberto he wasn’t making the team and he had an out, that a team would find a spot for him on their opening day roster. He’s over 30. Look at his numbers. The fact is no team thought he was worthy of a major league contract.
  2. Does anyone really think Alberto, if he has an out in his minor league deal, is really going to be coveted by teams based on spring training stats? He’s going to the minors most likely anyways.
  3. Funny thing is stretching can decrease speed and power. There is a fine line and you cannot expect the athletes to know exactly what their line is. I doubt Eloy was missing any stretching sessions. The strength and conditioning guys stretch the guys out or at least supervise. Injuries are going to happen. I don’t fault the trainers or conditioning guys or players. Most during the season go through the same routines. Some never get hurt, some seem always injured.
  4. To say he was hurt because he didn’t stretch out enough, is actually a stretch. A lot of hammy problems around the league, especially last year. Players are going to get hurt. It’s part of what happens. Some guys never seem to get hurt. Some guys always seem to be hurt. Unfortunately, many of the Sox players seem to be the later right now. Hopefully it can change. Luis Robert is a workout warrior. No one is more cut than him, and he might play less than Eloy. As John Kruk once said, you can’t pull fat.
  5. I read somewhere where the Bears still HAVE to spend a ton of money.
  6. That's what I would guess. Personally, I would take Haseley over any of them,
  7. If the Sox lose any of them, oh well. There's a reason no team would give them a major league contract.
  8. I take spring training stats with a grain of salt. 99.9% chance these guys are what they have always been. I expect Leury to make the team, as not one of these guys is significantly better.
  9. Foster being hurt keeps him off the mound. That's good.
  10. It almost all profit anyway. they will make up in volume what they lose in price. They just don't want to be known as a saloon. $5 beers are going to get more people drunk. Hopefully, they won't be idiots and get into fights or bother people, so they can keep stuff like this up.
  11. I didn't really think you did. But it is an interesting case. It would be easy to be on either side of it. The Bears not landing a tackle yet indicates to me, the kid from NU could be their guy. I looked the other day, the #9 pick has been used many times on OL who have played in multiple Pro Bowls.
  12. Yes, but he's a 21 or 22 year old. Doing stupid things, especially with celebrity status, is pretty standard. He's lucky he didn't kill himself, or hit someone and kill them, but what he did isn't a deal breaker for me either, He didn't rape anyone, or beat anyone. Although the weight gain and other skipped activities does raise a flag. He's either going to be the biggest bargain or biggest bust, and whatever side that is right will be able to say I told you so.
  13. Everything costs more than it did in 2004. Beer prices at entertainment venues has always been ridiculous. $5 a beer now isn't so bad. It's the same or less than at most bars and restaurants. This is a move in the right direction.
  14. Limited roster spots would but a damper on that. If money wasn’t a factor, more teams would at least attempt to compete, and fanbases with little hope would have a bit more. When money wasn’t a factor teams like KC and Pitt and Cincinatti were always good. Now they usually have little shot: the best thing, and I know it will never happen, isn’t spending less, but evening the playing field more. Pay the players, but divide the money up, and only give money to teams that spend it.
  15. If DJ Moore were a Bear the last 5 seasons and put up the exact same numbers, he would be their all time leading receiver.
  16. Giolito with only 2 strikeouts in the 1st. What a bum.
  17. Orioles were really good last year. I bet they take a step back this season.
  18. League wide, it looks like oblique strains are the injury du jour.
  19. Especially this early. You really want him in midseason form now so he can dominate games that don’t count?
  20. People putting a lot in a March 5th spring training appearance. It is beyond amazing. It happens every year. Both ways.
  21. Former White Sox pre game host, and llongtime Rays radio voice, has died. He was only 58. He was great on the pregame, sometimes calling fans drillrods. Many were hoping he would get a White Sox pbp position some day. Apparently had heart issues.. RIP
  22. I've been waiting for this. Might as well, especially with a guy like Gallo, who if he hits it in the air, its either a routine play or gone. If the Sox can get the 2020 Luis Robert in CF back, they could do this a lot. I suspect if this happens enough, and teams don't get burned bad, they will change the rule so the work around will be illegal as well.
  23. He has a $12 million contract correct? If he gets suspended, that drops, and his paydays decrease in the future.
  24. If she made the whole thing up, I apologize profusely. The thing is, it's probably pretty slim she made it all up. But its a he said/she said, so it's pretty tough to prove unless there is a witness. Odds are overwhelming he did something. Something so bad, the mother was willing to risk her child's portion of his millions of baseball earningsl to make public, and be held accountable.
