  1. Could you get what Houston got for Watson for Fields? Draft a QB1, trade Fields for 3 firsts, and a couple of more picks. Reset the QB rookie contract.
  2. The good news is this has a high rate of survival.
  3. Cancer is fucked up. Thoughts are with him and his family Hoping for a cancer free diagnosis as soon as possible.
  4. He's a cheaper version of Adam Engel. Hope he doesn't get 300-400 ABs, but not bad in a pinch.
  5. They also had a doctor on who said its' probable they see at least a little bit of arthritis. If anyone remembers the Boy Wonder, Robin Vetura's ankle injury, it was in spring training and gruesome. He came back and pllayed, and played really well for a while, but arthritis set in and he wound up retiring. it was so bad, he was using a cain. He had some surgery to relieve it.
  6. Steve Phillps the former GM, was talking about this on MLBN the other day. He said there is no way to get insurance on a pre existing condition. Correa's contract, no matter where he signs, is uninsurable.
  7. You do get your QB on a rookie contract for 2 more years. I just wonder what Fields would be like with decent protection and some top receivers. I don't think they would take the gamble. Some of these top picks have really sucked, and even starting a rookie, you are pretty much punting on 2023.
  8. I do know one thing, if Eloy played RF at home, he'd find that box that Yankee rookie bounced off of a few years ago, and mess himself up.
  9. Yes. They need someone who can play CF when Robert misses 50-90 games.
  10. I kind of like White Sock. I was at a game in the late 80s when the team was really bad, and I was sitting behind the White Sox dugout. Russ Mormon was on the team, and he whiffed. He was coming back to the dugout with his head down, and some guy yelled "keep your head up, youre a White Sock" at him. For some reason,, that cracked me up, and I'll never forget it.
  11. Since I was told I shouldn't complain because there is nothing I can do about it, maybe we should discuss reality. Whose contract(s) can the White Sox dump for bonus pool money?
  12. What I don't get is when it's said there is nothing I or anyone here can do about it, that's true, so if we are just supposed to accept reality as it was phrased, what is the purpose of this board? Don't complain, there is nothing you can do. I'm not one that complains about every move. I think Benin10d was probably the safest choice on the next tier of FA. Clevinger will probably be at least as good as Cueto in 2023, maybe not what Cueto was in 2022. I like the manager. but the roster is the same BS they sell us all the time. Why not try to dominate? Why is that a bad thing?
  13. i b**** about it because it is wrong and it is not what was promised. Other than signing x, y, or z, you say, well, your highest salaried player just left, how about signing one of those guys? How about getting someone last year when you needed left handed hitting? How about Harper? How about Machado? Remember when year 8 of Machado's deal was going to be a problem? Guess what, they backload Benintendi so during that year 8, he is paid at his highest rate. How about all of the interesting trade ideas RH menttioned? Nope, roll back the clock to 2013-2017 and hope if the odds are defied and everything goes right, the White Sox will be really great. I am a fan which is short for fanatic. Sorry if I would like to see some life come out of this front office instead of just accepting it. Once I accept it, I will move on to other things. They can be better. I am asking that they be better. If you looked at my history, I have not been a long time basher. In fact, many times I have stuck up for JR. But this is a new level.
  14. Thats just because you have accepted the White Sox way. What other team who supposedly thinks of multiple championships, RH's words, operates like this? No one. The White Sox settle and hope. It's their SOP. We were told at the beginning of the rebuild things would be different. It's back to the future. Hope 2 or 3 rookies come up big. Hope 6 or 7 guys stay healthy and bounce back after losing your best player who actually stays on the field....They don't have to have a $250 million payroll to act like a contender. I hope Sosa is better than any 2B they could have signed or traded for. I hope Colas is the best RF in the AL, but will that be in 2023? Almost assuredly not. Maybe that will make them better in 2024 when there will be even more question marks. Gio will be gone. Lynn will probably be gone. If Clevinger is good in 2023, he will be gone, and it's not like the Sox will go on a spending spree to replace them.
  15. I’m not anti rookie, but rookies usually struggle at some, point if not right away. A supposed championship window isn’t when you usually put that much on them. Who do they have to give Colas a break if he needs if? Who do they have if he struggles? He might be great right away, but it’s unlikely. And they are doing it at 2B as well. Why can’t they ever really go for it?
  16. It’s not realistic but they are nowhere near $250 million. They lost Abreu and got Pollock to leave. If you are in a championship window, a fan base should expect the payroll to rise each year as core players generally have thei salaries increase. Clevinger hopefully can do what Cueto did last year. Benintendi should help. I like Colas as a prospect, but you are putting a lot on him and either Sosa or Romy and possibly Perez behind the plate. It’s not like the Sox have an upper echelon farm system. There should have been better options. I think they will be better, but if you look at White Sox history under JR, after disappointing seasons, they usually bounce back and win 85. I will admit I am sick of the team hoping to win instead of trying their best to win.
  17. Totally disagree. A team really thinking they are a championship contender doesn't rely almost exclusively on rookies, and not exactly top 50 prospects at that, to cover 2 positions. They need help at catcher. MLBTR had a piece the other day showing their weakest positions last season were C and RF, and they did nothing. I am sure a couple of these guys are going to bounce back, but all of them? And they aren't going to be hurt most of the time/ I think teams that say they are contenders should act like it.
  18. It just amazes me how unaggressive this front office is. And for whatever reason. They were given a gift when Pollock didnt exercise his option, yet they almost couldn't be less aggressive. SHOW US YOU WANT TO WIN FOR ONCE.
  19. The Vikings aren't playing for anything. It's a glorified pre season game. Keep everyone you want around next season off the field.
  20. I read where they are 4 if they win and the others lose.
  21. And now they are saying the fact that they called the game shows just how much they care about the players. It's such a joke.
  22. It would be so Bears if they win and get the #4 pick. And you know if they win, Houston will too.
  23. A friend of mine is a doctor and he thinks he’s got commotio cordis. Basically a shot to the chest that causes the heart to stop. Kids have died getting it from getting hit with baseballs. He said that that the quick medical action could save him, but was concerned they were working on him with CPR for so long.
  24. Colts Peyton Manning. Cowboys Troy Aikman. There’s 2.
  25. Finley sold about the same time Veeck did. Decent chance JR would have owned the A’s.
