  1. Too much Elvis Kool aide here. 74 wRC+ from 2018-2021. Little chance he replicates his lin drive rate he had with the Sox which was over double his career rate and 20% of his flyballs were going over the wall. This is almost guaranteed to regress to the mean. And someone is going to have to pay at least a little bit more based on his 2022 numbers. If he would take total peanuts with incentives, fine, but chances are he would be no better just more expensive than the in house options.
  2. The pitch clock is going to help. I think it will help not only slice off a half hour a game, but it will increase offense.
  3. Compared to the Bears, they are a first class organization. JR wouldn’t f*** up the Arlington Park option. Watch what the McCaskeys do.
  4. They will want a new park. The last 3 years of the lease, the state doesn’t have to upgrade. We will start hearing about this in the next couple of years. I’m sure the Sox were/are counting on being really good when they have to start holding their hats out for subsidies. It is going to be interesting watching it play out. No way they get a state of the art new stadium built totally on the taxpayer dime.
  5. I don’t mind the jingle. I think Stacey King singing it spurred the rest who do on. If you can’t stand it, you know exactly when it’s coming. Hit mute for 4 or 5 seconds.
  6. I like the way you’re thinking here. Go get a real secondbaseman or let these guys battle.
  7. What happened to all the interesting trade ideas Hahn was speaking of a few weeks ago?
  8. Where they do get money is additional deals with Guaranteed Rate. For instance, GR is the "official" mortgage company of the White Sox. And they sponsor giveaways. Stuff like that.
  9. Yes, the White Sox don't collect on this. It makes no sense.
  10. The White Sox need good players, not crap. LaStella is crap.
  11. No way any White Sox can get back to what they were or what any of us hoped they were. But LaStella at age 34 is a prime candidate to snap back to his 2019 level. And his bad defense is just a statistical anomaly. Can’t be real. It’s only real if it’s bad and he’s a White Sox.
  12. The other good news is there will be more interleague games, and the White Sox have the 2nd best interleague record of all time.
  13. There's always room. You never have too much pitching. If they can't go on the DL or minor leagues, if they are good enough you are afraid to lose them, they should be tradeable.
  14. Letting Boegarts go for a draft pick wasn't good. JD Martinez gets you a lottery ticket at the deadline in 2022 wouldn't he? Looks like they have pissed off Devers. Trevor Story looks like a mistake. Verdugo looks mediocre. It isn't a good team, yet they spend cash on Jansen. It's reminding me of the 2009-2015 White Sox way.
  15. Maybe some of the Reinsdorf water carriers should notice his way doesn’t work.
  16. I really don’t know why people would think this is even a remote possibility. Chicago is the 3rd largest market in the country. The AL will not abandon it
  17. Yeah there is nothing more a new manager wants than the old failed manager around “helping” him out.
  18. If true, what an awful idea and slap in the face of your new manager.
  19. Here were last years projections, for what Fangraphs called the most accurate projection model. Notice the Astros had 0:5% higher chance of winning the World Series than the White Sox, and the Guardians had a 0.5% higher chance of winning the AL Central than the White Sox had of winning the WS. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/atc-2022-projected-standings-and-playoff-odds/
  20. He had 1 good season before the age of 36. This contract will push his career earnings to $75 million. Good for him. Most would have given up.
  21. As much as everyone was to blame Frank M. for it, I still think it was another TLR deal. Frank was the hitting coach when Stanton hit 59. I knw he was the hitting coach when the Marlins hit a lot of singles, but look at their roster. Tony was the guy who told Pujols to try to hit .300 instead of a ton of homers. It worked for him because he was a freak, and baseball was a little different. There are going to be guys that will be a lot better in 2023, but probably a couple that won't. Who knows exactly how it will turn out? Benin10d didn't exactly hit a ton of homers when coached by these guys. I also think the ball is going to be a bit more lively in 2023 But everyone has to admit the new staff seems head and shoulders above the last. Whether that means more wins, who. knows. But it was a better team when Tony left last year until Cleveland beat them at home in September and they just collapsed. If they stayed close, Cairo is probably a big league manager instead of a minor league roving instructor.
