  1. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) calm down everyone it's not over until it's over more seriously though, its only game one of the series if we win the series then I'm fine with this I'm angry that we lost against the royals, but I won't let that anger carry over to this series for now Playing a Red Sox team without Ortiz or a handful of others at full strength, with Julian Taveras starting, and only having to score 3 runs in 9 innings to win, and not being able to do it, plus blowing a 9th inning lead, is every bit at pathetic as dropping 2 out of 3 to KC. This isn't 2005, that's for sure.
  2. QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:03 AM) Everyone [except Jose] is projected to pitch less innings this yr than last. Jose threw 204 innings and is on par for 205. 2005 innings projected 2006 Jon-221 205 MB-236 216 Freddy-228 213 KW had 6 SP's this yr in case someone went down, not to give guy's a rest. No teams give their SP's a breather during the yr, unless a guy is hurt. He stated numerous times that guys may need a break because of the workload last year, and that McCarthy would fill in when they needed that couple weeks off. This year's totals may be down a little but add that to last season's plus the postseason, and remember White Sox starters still lead the league in innings pitched this season.
  3. I'd wish they would upgrade the city of Tucson to make it more presentable.
  4. QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 07:09 AM) Which guys on the sox can you name that don't have that passion?! The numbers I bet are very few, if any. Even Freddy who gets p.o.ed at his teammates has passion to win How often do teams skip a guy's spot in the rotation just to give a guy a rest? The SP's have almost certainly pitched fewer innings than last year at this point. I'd be interested in the numbers [though the innings eaten by the bullpen when el Duque threw shouldn't count]. Most guys haven't gone as deep into games this yr. that, IMO, counts as a "rest". White Sox starters lead MLB in innings pitched. These are the same starters KW was so worried about after last year's workload that he had 6 starters on the roster for a rest. They haven't gotten that rest and have not been very good. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 08:12 AM) Yea, no team in baseball lets their starters go 6-7-8 innings a game. No team at all! Really!!! Yes, Ozzie keeps his starters in for too long, but saying "it's stupid, letting starters go 6-7-8 innings a game" is completely wrong. The point of a starter is to have them go 6-7-8 innings a game, not to take them out at 5 innings and say nice work. Whether or not the pitcher should be left in the additional inning (ala Freddy, Javy) is a different case all together, and that decision should be made while watching the game, not by generalizing about past starts. I just wish Ozzie would be more proactive with the pitchers than reactive. For instance, its almost a given that Vazquez is going to piss his pants in the 6th inning. If the Sox have a 4 or 5 run lead its one thing, if the game is tied or its a 1 or 2 run lead, why wait until the first 2 guys get on base to yank him? Have someone else start the inning.
  5. Isn't it ironic that for all the rest Ozzie has given his regular players, he has given his starting pitchers none?
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) We've still got 2 more years if I'm not mistaken and seeing how he's basically minny Manny, I expect him to get Manny money. Thome will be coming off the books, and a pitcher or 3.
  7. How long until Miguel Cabrera is a free agent? He just said he cried tears of joy when Ozzie won the WS. It might be worth a couple of years of ridiculous moves if the Sox had a shot at signing him.
  8. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Did he say who #1 is? I suspect that it is not a lead off man. No he didn't. He did mention that with only 3 homers, that particular stat is quite troubling.
  9. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) Who's our 2nd reliable starter? And all these things you listed were evident in June and July, when something could have been done about it. But Paulie, Thome and JD said the Sox were fine. I'm happy KW lets the players play GM.
  10. Melton just mentioned that Pods is 2nd in baseball at taking a 3rd strike. I don't know if I'm more surprised he's still considered a lead-off man, or that someone has actually been caught looking more. BTW, Papi is back on Tuesday.
  11. Ozzie puts Freddy's record in front of the team's, then brings in Cotts based on what Neal did in 2005, evidently not considering what he has done the last month or so. It is so ridiculous its sickening. Ozzie Guillen=Mike Ditka.
  12. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) Who cares anymore. Apparently not the White Sox.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) It's too bad the good posters don't come in here, as they're about the only people that do defend him. I'd love to hear what Wealz has to say about this game. jphat would say the homers were just bloops hit on great pitches.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) I wish Ozzie would have stuck to his word and quit after we won the World Series. I think he did, he just didn't tell anyone.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) Our super smart manager, has decided to march out a guy with 104 pitches to start an inning to get the W. Now he backs up his moronic decision with another dumb one. Putting the guy with the mid 6 ERA since the allstar break and a whip of 2 1/2. Someone needs to break ozzies 8 ball now, its defective. Ozzie has a WS ring, how dare you question anything he does.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) The annoying thing is that we don't even have a righty on the bench who we could DH today. I hope that AAA title is important enough to not promote Fields yet. Fields would most likely have the same results as Thome, although he wouldn't be batting 4th.
  17. It will be a minor victory for Dye if he makes contact.
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) come on freddy. one more. who was the prospect? I don't remember, someone who didn't amount to anything. It would have been interesting if the Sox actually made that trade, because after Sweeney showed he couldn't catch, he really wouldn't have had a spot to play.
  19. Dye really looks lost. Move him back to the 5th spot until he makes contact again. The Sox almost got Sweeney several years ago as a catcher. KC wanted a prospect Schueler didn't want to give up, so the Sox got Fordyce instead. Sweeney was a horrible catcher.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 07:06 AM) Sorry, I do my best to freighten anyone flying airplanes. Make you sweat a little bit. Have a good time in BAWSTAN. That's cold. Funny but cold.
  21. Ozzie has Mack in LF and MacDougal pitching. Tom Kelly must have called him and told him what to do. I'd like to have a dozen golf balls for every time Hawk mentions he'd like to have a dozen golf balls.
