  1. Dye comes up huge again. Hopefully Freddy won't give it right back.
  2. Nice job Paulie. I still think his leg is bothering him at least a little bit, although it won't hurt his speed.
  3. They probably won't show Karko if he's there because they don't want to scare the children.
  4. Is the cowardly lion, Ron Karkovice in the booth? Maybe they'll show him in between innings. He's got to be looking real good these days.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) Hawk seems very pissed off tonight. I don't think he likes Freddy one bit.
  6. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) I'll bite. I don't have the advantage of watching this 'horror show', but the score is only 1-0 so far. The time bomb is ticking on Freddy however. Its just a matter of time before he really gets lit up. Hawk seems to know this as well as he seems rather irritated a little threat doesn't produce any runs. Looking at the game, it appears almost certain the Sox will need at least 6 to win tonight.
  7. Pods may have K'd looking yet again his first AB, but he saw a lot of pitches.
  8. DJ is talking about the second time around the order. Haven't the Sox seen Bonser before?
  9. QUOTE(MinnesotaSoxFan @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) I blame the weed. You know there were a lot of Cheetos involved in Freddy Garcia's offseason routine.
  10. Garcia is hard to watch. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) He's playing the game the right way during his super stretch. I wish our slap/speed hitter had half of Tyner's baseball IQ. I hope our outfield is playing shallow. I guarantee you Pods is playing Castillo within 1 step of where he would play Manny Ramirez.
  11. Listening to his tone, I get the feeling Hawk is no fan of Fat Freddy. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) Another good thing about F. Garcia is how he works at such a quick pace. The vendors love him.
  12. This is a huge game, especially considering there is about an 80-1 chance of a White Sox win on Sunday.
  13. Jason Tyner is another first ballot Hall of Famer if he got to face the Sox every game of his career.
  14. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) I predict a line of 6IP 10Hits 5ER 3BB And if that's his line, I predict Ozzie says "He threw the ball good"
  15. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) He's fat and kind of lazy. My goodness, I've never seen Konerko pop up in the Metrodome. (Every game, actually.) Maybe he's hoping they'll lose it in the roof.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) BTW....this is going to be an awfully long series if Ozzie keeps letting Morneau beat us. He's the best hitter in baseball right now. Ozzie usually gives the opposition's best hitters the opportunity to beat the Sox. That's why I was shocked when he walked Grudz yesterday. The offense appears lost at the present time.
  17. Pods has to be closing in on a record for leadoff hitters taking a 3rd strike. Nice to see Freddy get out of the inning only giving up 1. Its ridiculous he's never ready to pitch in the first inning.
  18. What inning will Hawk tell us that the OFs are equidistant?
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) The flip side of that is if you put last years pitching with this years offense... :drools They probably would be at least as many games up on Detroit as they are now behind. They would be a lock at winning 110 games. Maybe the pitchers can turn it on. It would really be interesting if the pitching ever got on a real roll. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) I'd like to see more hit-and-runs. Simply put, we're a terrible team at getting jumps and stealing bases. Not only are our guys being thrown out at an alarming rate, but they're not even close to being safe. Smallball was magnified last year due to our offense being medicore for a large portion of the season. This year, we have a team that can outslug the opposition, and I hate giving up outs prior to our monster 3-4-5-Crede coming up to the plate. With our pitchers performing like they have this year, playing for one run prior to the 6th inning is a mistake. More specifically I'd like to see Pods try to steal a little more. If for some reason he can't, put him on the DL because he doesn't bring too much else to the table.
  20. I don't understand all the clamouring for "smallball". The offense is the best in the league. The pitching has been horrible. The team ERA is almost the same as Cleveland's. Put last year's offense with this year's pitching and you would have a team that would be very lucky to be .500. You can't play small ball when you need to score 7 or 8 runs a night in order to win a game, although I would like to see some more stolen base attempts.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) They've lost 6 of 9 at home, so they've been slipping a bit without Francisco. Let's get 2 out of 3 (tonight is essential) and get the hell outta there. 2 out of 3 would be awesome. Sunday is going to be almost impossible as the Twins have won the last 18 starts Santana has made at home, and the Sox counter with Vazquez. If the Sox somehow pull that one out, they must be a team of destiny.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) Granderson at .273/.352 has an adequate average/on base split and a .352 OBP along with his pretty good speed and lefty bat isn't bad as a leadoff man, but damn he strikes out a lot. His numbers would indicate he is miscast as a leadoff man. I think he has less than 10 steals. The Tigers still win. You could have Ron Kittle leading off, if you have the best pitching in the league, you will win a lot of games. I really am looking forward to a Pods-less White Sox team. People put way too much stock in his steals. His OBP is really misleading when you consider how many times he gets himself out on the bases. Its also a good thing he scored on Konerko's double today. He actually pulled up at second on the play, and had to take off again. I don't find Pods to be a very cerebral player.
