  1. Losing this game would be heartbreaking.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) Nice piece of hitting by Grudz if he faced the Sox 162 times a year, he'd be a first ballot HOFer.
  3. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) The power.... Its the prayers and the vitamins, brother.
  4. Liriano got scratched for the Twins tomorrow night. He has a sore elbow.
  5. Its started off like Buerhle was going to get hammered again tonight, but he really picked it up. Another start like tonight and he may be back to normal.
  6. Good to get Buerhle out. He gets a good start in his mind. Its hot and a meltdown this inning could have destroyed all the confidence he may have gained tonight.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) FWIW, I asked my fiance if I could come down the aisle to "Real American", but she said no. At one of my friend's weddings, we were eating dinner to Zepplin tunes. I guess the bride's aunt came up and complained that the music was too loud.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) is Shealy a good prospect? Seems like some people were interested him during the deadline A lot of people like him. He is 26 years old though.
  9. QUOTE(hogan873 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) Hulk Hogan? Can't be Paul Hogan. Ben, maybe? It has to be Col. Hogan.
  10. Anyone who doesn't think Hawk b****es about balls and strikes obviously has the TV turned down and is listening to the radio.
  11. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) I think alot of people feel this way. Len Kasper would be Horrific = Lletts Go Wwhhite Soxx, Alllrighhty get those Runns. Yiippeee Len Kasper=Kermit the Frog
  12. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Hawk thinks that the umpires around MLB conspire against the Sox. He's on the only MLB tv announcer who routinely not only complains about calls, but claims that the bad calls all or mostly go against his team and in favor of the other team. Another example of how craptastic Hawk is. I like Hawk and DJ, but Hawk even has DJ whining about balls and strikes a lot.
  13. Buerhle utilizing the Duque method of pitching which means going 3-2 on everyone will not work. He is a guy who needs his command, and with as behind as he's been in the count tonight, he appears not to have it back yet. Hopefully something will click for him soon.
  14. Why do we hear about the umpire's strike zone every damn game? Does Hawk think the Sox pitchers never get a borderline call?
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) Hawk again bringing up how Iguchi had that ball go under his glove. I think that Hawk should let that go, maybe it's a play he had a chance to make, but it was a tough play That was a tough play, and it would be nice if one of the starters in the best rotation ever assembled would pick him up.
  16. Odalis Perez was a Soxtalk favorite a couple of years ago. He's not having any trouble with the top of the Sox order yet.
  17. I think Buerhle being behind every hitter is a bad sign of things to come. Hopefully he'll start getting ahead of the hitters or he's going to get ripped.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 06:55 PM) At this point last year, I was still saying the Red Sox were the team to beat in the AL. I said that until they were beaten. The team having the best record is not "The team to beat", the defending champs are. You couldn't have said that in 2004 about the Marlins, could you?
  19. I actually met the guys who invented the Shawon-o-meter. They went to high school with one of my best friends in college. The Shawon-o-meter dissappeared from Wrigley when those 2 got jobs. Lee Elia wasn't too far off in his rant.
  20. Too Cub fan-esque. Leave the o-meter signs and the throwing of opposition homers, occassional foulballs, and garbage on the field to the morons in the dump on the northside.
  21. So the Millllllllleerrrrrrrrrrr Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight guy doesn't sell at Wrigley. Good for him. He has business cards, and they are hysterical. It has Vendor as his occupation.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) Well, aside from 2 years in Oakland where he was suddenly good (01 and 02, interestingly enough), it's worth pointing out that the years he's been in the AL he's been shelled, and his numbers in the NL the last 3 seasons have been pretty poor, ERA's from 4.5-4.9, which would be somewhere in the mid 5's in the AL. And Vazquez in the AL? His ERA was over 6.00 the second half with the Yankees in 2004, I think near 7.00, and its about 5.50 right now. It also was about 4.50 last year in the NL, and the White Sox gave up a top prospect, a couple of other serviceable guys, and are paying him handsomely. At about $8 million a year cheaper than Javy Vazquez, with a better career W-L record, and a career ERA only 0.18 higher, if people value Javy Vazquez, they should value this guy a little bit more. The Yankees #5 starter right now is at least as good as the #5 starter in the best rotation in history. If McCarthy moved into the rotation, I would change my opinion.
