  1. KW almost traded for him before he went to Atlanta. I haven't seen him pitch at all this year, but last year he was awful. He must be just horrid if the DBacks can't get anyone to trade for him while eating most of his contract. Guys that have that much much just eaten, unless their name is Tim Thomas, are usually done, or at least not much of a player anymore.
  2. Any relation to that evil woman the first season of the Apprentice?
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) Except when McCarthy made his first start there last season, and every flyball was gone. Left field at Cleveland has that type of feeling for me. Me too. On TV, you would think right handed power hitters would die in Cleveland.
  4. If McCarthy could become consistant in the bullpen, maybe if he consistantly pitched, it would be huge for this team.
  5. I know that place is a bandbox, but everytime I see a game in Texas, it seems like you would have to hit one 600 ft. to hit it out of there.
  6. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) we need to get thome going. hes been getting hits here and there but hes been struggling a bit. hasnt hr'ed in 10 days. Its alright. He'll hit 5 or 6 in a week soon.
  7. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Pods now at .251 and only outhitting Uribe and Anderson.....both those 2 are hitting better than him right now though... Pods only has 5 fewer RBI than he did all of last season when a few people around here thought he warranted MVP consideration. Last year he may have been the most overrated player in the history of baseball.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) Jon threw a good game. He had a shaky 6th inning and obviously you'd like to see him go deeper in the game, but he got a ton of ground ball outs and seemed to be throwing a little easier. Stunk he couldn't go deeper, but the Rangers really had some good AB's on him and eventually he made a mistake to Young (after Young fouled off some tough pitches). Kinsler also had a really good AB (to draw the 1 out walk that started things). Overall I thought Jon threw the ball pretty good. I've been at most of Garland's home starts this year, and saw him in person in Tucson at the end of spring training. Its one of the few times there wasn't rocket after rocket hit off him. I think it was the best he's pitched by far this season.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) You know you're my favorite poster on this site, but I don't get this. Against this lineup and in this heat, Garland pitched 10 times better than most of us expected. Especially considering Ozzie's quick hook with him, I am thrilled with Garland's performance tonight. He actually looked like a pitcher tonight, and just wasn't throwing his sinker down the middle. He had terrible outfield defense tonight, and that definitely led to the first run. I thought he pitched well, just with the Sox bullpen, he needs to go a little longer in the game. Bad defense did plague him tonight, no question about it. Neither run should have scored. I figured he would have given up 6 runs minimum tonight.
  10. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) Awesome job Cottsy...lets get BMac for 2, and Jenks to get outta here if we dont score anymore Cotts looks good. I say leave him in.
  11. Nice scouting. Crede played him perfectly.
  12. Garland was better tonight, he kept the ball in the park, but 5 1/3 innings is not getting the job done.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) Outside of Anderson, it's been that way almost all season. Dye has not had a good year defensively, Pods and whoever besides Anderson is playing CF are making Ralph Garr look like a Gold Glover.
  14. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) f***in scotty and now JD, cotts time!! Walking guys and going full especially in heat, causes the defense to lose a little focus. Ozzie yanks Garland. Why won't Hawk criticize him?
  15. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) IM not saying we should pull him out, right now, right now. i said to take him out once this starts getting worse..as in more hits FWIW, I thought that particular criticism of Manuel was unfair.
  16. I think the fact that your main lefty set-up man is warming up in the 6th inning speaks volumes on Ozzie's confidence in Garland.
  17. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) dont wait till garland blows this, get em out befor he blows this game... Isn't yanking him in these situations one thing Manuel was criticized for?
  18. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) LMAO! And they still suck. Day and night. They found out it really was only a theory.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) It's why Texas blows ass come late August. They're spent from playing in this 100 degree s*** every day. That was also the theory with the Cubs and all their day games, pre-lights
  20. I forgot about the Mavs. Remember when the Sox cancelled a game real early because of weather, and it turned out to be fine at gametime, and many thought the real reason was because the Bulls had a playoff game that night and there wouldn't be more than a couple of thousand at the Sox game?
  21. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) It's too f'in hot. And, we're all at home watching the Mavs. (or stuck in class... s***) Its supposed to be Africa-hot in Chicago this weekend.
  22. A lot of empty seats in Arlington tonight.
  23. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) What a horses*** comparison. You mean caballos*** comparison.
  24. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) At least Garland recovered. Even with the pathetic effort by Pods, if he would have run after the ball and not assumed the guy would pull up at second, it still might be scoreless. Garland is pitching his best game in a long while.
  25. To compound the misplay, he took his sweet ass time going after the ball.
