  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) There are few managers in baseball that would of let Bmac face Cat in that situation. The gut so far isnt working this year with making picks for matchups late in games. Last year we won these games, this year we are a gas can. For as much managing by the gut that Ozzie gets credit for, he usually plays middle relief by the book. Great job by Crede.
  2. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 27, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) McCarthy is not a good reliever. I'd rather send him down and make him a starter in AAA. He's better than Politte. KW screwed up this past offseason and ignored the bullpen. There goes Hawk blaming the umpires again. The Sox let a routine flyball drop, throw away a sure DP, don't score with the bases loaded and 1 out, don't bring in the hottest non-closer in the bullpen even though he's a lefty and Catt is batting, and somehow its the umpire's fault its 2-1 Toronto. GMAB.
  3. Poor managing. Even if Toronto PH for Cat, at least he and his .320 avg. aren't beating you.
  4. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 27, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) I think the fact that AJ was moving around the ump thought it was a ball. I think you're right.
  5. It looked like a strike, but if you listen to Hawk and DJ, the umpires only blow calls against the Sox. This is not true.
  6. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ May 27, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) KW sure did rape the skanks with that Loaiza for Contreras trade. Do you remember the idot Brantley's reaction? He couldn't believe the Sox traded a guy as great as Loaisa for garbage like Contreras. He still gets paid tons of money to voice his incredibly stupid opinions on ESPN.
  7. Its hard to believe this game is 2 hours 10 minutes old. It seems like it started a month ago.
  8. This could be the longest 1-1 3 inning game in history.
  9. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 27, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Ugh, Thome is K'ing a lot lately, I don't like that.. When he goes bad, he Ks at an alarming rate. He'll get hot soon enough and hit a lot of souveniers to the fans.
  10. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 27, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) We got any good SS in our minors? I cant recall any off the top of my head. Enough of bringing guys up from Charlotte who will be overmatched. There isn't a SS in the Sox system who could hit or field with Uribe right now, even when Juan's struggling
  11. Uribe did have a guy right on him, but he rushed the throw. Bad defense by Mack and Juan cost the Sox a run.
  12. I hope Geddy Lee is at the game today. The Sox always win when he's there.
  13. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 26, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) Since May 23rd last year, Garland's line has been this: 13-12 W-L, 212 1/3 IP, 231 Hits, 105 ER, 33 HR, 47 BB, 112 K, 4.45 ERA Which is basically what he's been his whole career except his hot streak at the beginning of last year. With every start it looks more and more likely that's basically what he will always be. Its not awful, it might be worth $7 million a year, especially knowing he may get on a roll for a while, but its probably not worth the $10 million they owe him next year, or the $12 million the year after that. I know Ozzie is a bit perplexed by Garland's admitted lack of confidence. I really think Ozzie is starting to think of Garland as a pussy. I predict he gone after this season.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 26, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Good get for the Royals if its true; I know its a GM job and one of only 30 in the world, but if this guy is the rising star the article pegs him to be, I don't know why he would take the KC job unless they paid him ungodly sums of money. He should wait for an opening with an organization that can eventually win. KC is a long way from contending. Its one of those jobs where no matter how good you may be, you will most likely fail, and 5 years from now, when your contract runs out, you will be looking for another occupation.
  15. I still think the White Sox consider Fields a 3rd baseman. If the plan was to move him to the OF, you would think they would move him immediately. He's a lot more valuable in a trade as a 3rd baseman.
  16. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) No doubt you take the good with the bad. Trouble is, the most used word describing Anderson lately is the 'p' (pathetic) word. If you added Podsednik's center field defense to his hitting and compared it to Anderson's center field defense and hitting, which would you take? Of course this would only be worth conjecture if Fields shows he can crush at the major league level. Pods isn't exactly ripping the cover off the ball the last few games. Anderson is going to get every chance to show he can hit. KW loves him. In the meantime, Mackowiak will play against right handers, and he's been hitting lately. The formula is working so far.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) The funny thing is when a crappy pitcher toes the rubber at the cell, they show his 2005 stats and his 2005 stats only on the jumbotron. Cliff Politte was good last year, this year he uhhh, well last year he helped us. Shingo was good for us one year, then we ditched him. We ditched Koch after he blew. Lets not hold on to garbage for sentimental reasons ie: Mike Jackson pitching in a meaningful games in a playoff race because he needs to get some silly record. Clifford is now at 7.13 Its going to be a little harder for KW to come up with a replacement now than it would have been this offseason, when even I, a guy who gets ripped constantly on this board for not knowing anything, could see Politte wasn't going to be aces this season. QUOTE(daa84 @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) KC retook the lead again at 7-4 and is about to blow it yet again....i dont know if its worse to be a cub fan or a KC fan I would say its easy to be a KC fan. They don't even have anything on their roster that could even tease you into thinking they have a chance.
  18. DJ needs to quit praising Politte. He's not preaching to Cubs fans. Sox fans know what's going on.
  19. Politte sucks. He needs to be replaced on the roster.
  20. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 26, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) Life as a devoted Cubs fan must be complete and utter hell right now. The 3000 or so that actually paid attention to what happened are probably too hammered to remember it tomorrow anyway.
  21. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 26, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) I think the CBA does not allow an increase in a penalty. They also take forever to hear an appeal for a fine. I recently read Moises Alou saying he still hasn't had an appeal on his fine for his incident w/ an umpire in 2003. I didn't know they couldn't increase the penalty. I work in the commodities field and know of someone who was disciplined by the CFTC $50k, he appealed and upon further review his fine when to $200,000. AJ has mentioned he's getting a little sick of his supposed reputation. He may just pay the fine to keep everything on his front quiet.
