How many more years until Paulie has the toilet seat hairdo?

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 18, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) In 20 years, Sox fans won't even know that Hawk is dead -- the Sox will just replace him with an intern with a soundboard. Sometimes when I watch games my wife is in the background, and I will see the play and say what Hawk is going to say just before he does. She marvels that I know what he's going to say, and thinks I should get a job like his. I just go with it.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 18, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) Hawk gets off on repeating the same 'ol stories about Catfish Hunter and Yaz. I think I know more about Yaz than most die-hard Red Sox fans at this point. That is if in fact Hawk's stories are true.

This game is now officially at Buerhle pace.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 18, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) In case you're keeping score at home. Brian Anderson Batting Average Watch: .170 That's .018 below Frank Thomas, the greates hitter in White Sox history, now entering his prime.

The White Sox obviously want to get home ASAP,

If the ball would have been playable, the ball getting stuck on the catwalk at least made Hendrickson throw a lot more pitches.

Didn't Albert get married fairly recently? If he did, I'm guessing he's headed for a or break up if it isn't already.

This could be big trouble for the big guy. Since he was out on bail on a felony charge of stalking his current charge could make him ineligible for bail. I think he's going to the pokey for a while.

QUOTE(G&T @ May 18, 2006 -> 09:19 AM) This question was asked before, and someone answered ESPN...anyone feel a Sunday lineup is going out there tonight? I hope they do have a Sunday line-up in there tonight. The Sox are 7-0 on Sundays this season. A far cry from their Sunday record last year.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ May 17, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) Maybe, but he's on the team. Is Ozzie supposed to hide the kid for 162 games? He was gonna have to be tested in a situation like that at some point. The problem is that he is on the team, and its nearly impossible to "hide" guys for 40 games, unless their name is Ross Gload, let alone 162. If you're a pitcher on a major league roster, you're going to pitch. There is not question Logan earned a spot on the roster this spring, but that was because of the ridiculous competition with all the other minor league signees who were so unimpressive they took Logan out of minor league camp. You increase payroll over $20 million, trade 2 guys who made a ton of appearances in the bullpen in Vizciano and Marte, and don't sign or trade for a reliable reliever. That, to me, and I said it at the time, made no sense. As was astutely mentioned earlier in this thread, its not Logan's fault he's on the team, and in way over his head. It was a nice story in spring training, but you just knew he would struggle when the games counted. I'm still not sure about his talent, he has had a couple of moments of brilliance, but anyone with his lack of experience will most likely struggle. This is a World Champion team, its pathetic we are now pining for Javier Lopez, he of the 6.09 career ERA Lopez's, or Jeff Nelson, who evidently no other team wanted after he was released in spring training. KW needs to correct his offseason mistake. If the bullpen gets straightened out, this could be the best White Sox team of all-time.

GAME THREAD 5-16-06 SOX vs RAYS

The other thing bothering me is it seems the Sox are giving up a lot of unearned runs this year. I know its not the easiest thing, but maybe some pitchers could pick up their defenders once in a while. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 16, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) I would put money on Walker staying in... He has 5 saves I think. -

Sox pitching has allowed 50 runs the last 6 games, and with Thornton in, it could well be more. -

This guy has given up 15 runs in 12 innings with SF and TB this season. -

In the last 4 games, Pods has more triples more homers and just as many RBIs with the bases loaded as he had the entire last season. -

Pods was godawful with the bases loaded last season. Maybe he can turn it around. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 16, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) Hafner hits a walk-off homer off of Sisco. Sisco hasn't been very good this year, has he? -

I think Logan's performance was worse than Paniagua's because it cost the Sox a game. At least they won the Paniagua debacle. -

Hopefully ignoring the bullpen this past offseason won't bite KW in the ass. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) PK! back to back shots. These homers are Frank Thomas specials. He always seemed to homer to make it 8-2. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Not as useful as Javier Vazquez. But I know what you are saying. Viz has been good this year and would be a good mop up 6/7 inning type guy. He really wasn't that bad last year. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) They never taught us that in Little Leagues. They start stressing it HS. I made that mistake once last year against Payton (not covering first) and I ran laps like a Kenyan cross-country runner. Never made that mistake again. I went to spring training this year and got to the complex early one day. I was with my dad and he wanted to watch them workout. We spent an hour watching pitchers cover first base. Not exactly a good time. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Seriously, he needs to talk to Politte and Buehrle about that. They ALWAYs get to 1st base. Pitchers practice that until they are blue in the face from little league on. It should be automatic. Either he was converted to a pitcher late, or he's just a dumbass. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) That leaves just one reliever with an ERA under 5 right? Yes. Why are Logan and Montero collecting major league checks? Absolutely ridiculous. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) Bobby and Neal. And add Cliff and our main three are throwing well. Bmac has been solid for the most part. It's the other 2 spots that suck. Jenks is 5.06. Politte has been better lately. I am not convinced it will last. His history suggests a tough season.
