For the Sox to win tonight, Garland would probably have had to pitch a shutout. The way he's throwing, it would be hard to imagine him shuting out an Independent League team right now.

BP ERA's McCarthy 5.21 Jenks 5.52 Cotts 3.14 Politte 6.17 Logan 3.38 Thornton 7.04 Montero 5.40 We all know as well as KW that winning will not continue if these don't improve. I expect KW is working frantically on fixing this. Of course, the bullpen had nothing to do with tonight's loss. Beating Santana is tough.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 12, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) So if Judy keeps getting raped on a every 5th day status, do we see Bmac out of the pen and into the rotation. You will in 2007

QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ May 12, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) It looks like Ozzie is letting Garland take his lumps either that or resting the bullpen. Oh well, can't win em all. The Sox have no chance as long as Santana remains in the game, and not much of a chance if they go to the bullpen. Ozzie should just give the bullpen another day of rest and let Montero get lit up until the game is over.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 12, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) SSH, righties are batting over 300 against Javy in Charlotte....so you've got that. Batters are hitting below .140 against Tracey..... I really like Tracey, I was really disapointed in his spring training performance.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 12, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Its been .2 innings. He's been in the minors 9 years without sniffing the major leagues. Sometimes you don't have to see much to see its not going to work out. Montero sucks, there is no doubt about that. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 12, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) He's been kicking ass at Charlotte. Winning down there can carry up. When's the last time the Sox brought a pitcher up from Charlotte during the season who did anything postive?
-
They should just release Montero. Seriously, why keep this guy around, unless you really need him at Charlotte. He can't pitch in the major leagues effectively.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) At least if Judy is going to pitch like this maybe we should flip flop him and Bmac. The money he makes now is silly, but he hasnt shown too much improvement outside of facing the mighty royals offense. The money he makes next year and the year after are even sillier. Hopefully he can turn it around, but he's been very hittable this year.

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) it's official Jon Garland = Adrian Beltre of pitchers............give him a contract and the "talent" disappears. Notice Hawk hasn't been Jerry Manuel bashing this season. He basically blamed all of Garland's struggles before on him.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Bring in Agustin. Might as well make someone eliglible for MLB 07 tonight. I'd like to see Ozzie throw him in the game too. Then he might not be tempted to put him in a game the Sox have a chance of winning.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) It'll be interesting to see where the two end up this year. So far Jose is dominating him in pretty much ever stat but Ks. .235 OBP against? That is disgusting. Santana got off to a horrible start, but he's been his old self lately.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) Man, our lineup is basically conceding to Santana. No one is even making an effort except Pablo. Santana's ERA against the Sox at the Metrodome is 0.60 I think. They weren't going to get many tonight no matter how well Garland pitched.
-
QUOTE(3RDBASE @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) stupid...lol...yeah ok...who wants a stupid WS ring, certainly not Santana. You can't base how valuable individual players are by team accomplishments. Timo Perez has played in 2 WS and has 1 ring. Albert Pujols hasn't played in 1 WS let alone win one. Who's better? If Santana was on the Sox, he would be the #1 pitcher on the staff. The ace. Ahead of Buerhle, ahead of Contreras.

At least the Sox won't be wasting a Garland gem tonight.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) Self uses hair plugs. He has a rug. I know someone who has seen it off.

I just saw the footage of Rowand's catch. It was a nice. His face and nose went forward into the wall like he was in a head- on car wreck.
-
Hawk always mentions he would throw as many lefties as possible against Santana. It takes away his change.

I belong to Equinox at 900 N. Michigan. I have a charter membership at $95 a month, I think they're at about $120 right now. Its nice though. Very clean, and usually pretty empty. I did get a tip from someone once, that the best time to purchase a gym membership is at the end of the month. They usually will throw in a free month or 2 and waive initiation fees if they need you for their quota.

I HATE when the Sox face Santana. Hopefully Garland will be on tonight, because he's not going to get more than 3 runs to work with, and 3 might be a stretch.

QUOTE(rudylaw @ May 11, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) I love when new guys come up. It is always very exciting to see. It kind of makes it a little extra exciting when we are in the middle of a long season. Usually when when that new guy is from the White Sox minor leagues, the results are pretty bad. I don't expect much from Montero, he has had a history of walks in the minors. Haegar walked his share in the minors, but major league hitters have better batting eyes and are smarter hitters, so those totals even go higher. The Angels aren't that patient of an offense, yet they let Charlie hang himself, and Montero will most likely be no different. Hopefully, he won't cost the Sox any games. He probably is the new designated lamb of the pitching staff. If for some reason the Sox are getting blown out, he's going to be out on the mound pitching until his arm falls off.

Carlos Lee actually has more homers than Thome. He's on a tremendous salary drive.
-
Montero has the honor of being one of the first players suspended by MLB for steriod use last season.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) Wow, Im surprised about how many people are really worried about Jenks. I mean you lose one game once in awhile and you would think that our players are just horrible. Big deal, he gave up more runs, we wouldnt have won anyway. There's a big difference going into the bottom of the ninth down 1 or down 7. There is no way to tell if the Sox would have lost anyway. I'm worried about Jenks because he is throwing 94 mph and doesn't have the command of his breaking ball as well as he had last year. His ERA is 5.52. Opponents are hitting .288 against him. He's hardly walking anybody, which you would think would translate into dominating, but for some reason it has not. He has dominated a few times, but for the most part he has been extremely hittable.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 11, 2006 -> 08:33 AM) I think Jenks will be fine. Once he starts faltering in optium conditions I'll worry. It was raining pretty dam good when he was pitching. I don't think he gets a good grip on the ball when it's wet. He has faltered a few times in the rain. Bobby Jenks gets more excuses from this board than any player imaginable. He was horrible last night. It wasn't raining very hard when he was pitching. It started pouring after they took him out. If he can't pitch when its raining, or he can't pitch if he doesn't start an inning, or he can't pitch if there are runners on base, then he needs to find a different occupation. This board makes him out to be some sort of grizzled veteran closer. He has 16 career saves.

Use priceline. You'll be able to stay in Midtown for $140 a night. You may even get the Grand Hyatt, which is right next to Grand Central Station, which is one way to get to Yankee Stadium, and is also where the White Sox stay.
