  1. I don't think Josh is lying. Its on the other board as well. It may not be true, but he's just being the messenger.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) No, there isn't. If other teams aren't willing to make a deal you can't get pissed at Kenny. Afterall, this team has the best record in baseball and while they aren't playin as good as they have as of late, they are still a very very good ball club. If you can get into the post-season anything can happen. I got faith in my Sox You can't be mad at not overpaying. And I'm going to hold out criticism until I see where this team ends up, but they base their philosophy on picking up pieces at the deadline. If the prices for these players is unreasonable, this philosophy must change. If the White Sox don't win the WS, I don't want KW to tell us the annual,"you know I'm not afraid to be agressive" line for mid-season acquisitions. A 13.5 game lead does a lot to calm the nerves.
  3. BP is now reporting Youkilis and Jose Cruz JR. for Romero. They think its a done deal.
  4. Maybe El Duque needs another breather.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) One of the Charlotte guys said Jon Adkins has been called up, so there needs to be roster moves before tomorrows game at the latest. The Count had a leg problem yesterday. That could be it.
  6. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) levine just said no more moves will be made by either the cubs or the sox. It's good to know Levine knows before KW.
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) 1.) WHAT?! 2.) What does BP stand for? Baseball Prospectus
  8. BP said the Sox have now inquired about Dmitri Young. I wonder if he would have to backtrack his earlier statements?
  9. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) I wouldn't be so quick to punch Willie's ticket... It's common knowledge that Ozzie dislikes Gload... If he can play 1B then Gload needs to watch his back... I don't know if Ozzie dislikes Gload. But you are right, this doesn't necessarily mean we've seen the last of Willie. Gload is another guy who might interest a team as a throw in. If any other team's GM read this site the last few months, they can only come to the conclusion that Ross is bound for Cooperstown.
  10. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) has to willie. has to be. Unless someone is sent to another team. If I were TB, I wouldn't mind having Ozuna thrown into a big trade. For all his problems at 3B, he's been a pretty steady SS, and has shown he can hit, and makes the minimum.
  11. This should get the traveling secretary on the phone to United Airlines getting Willie Harris a flight to Charlotte, unless this a precursor to another trade.
  12. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) Can't you make a post without trying to personally insult me? Stick to the merits. It is a crap shoot. But no one that is against my point has articulated a plan for how we are going to keep our starting pitching at the top of the game over the next 3 years. Yet you would all agree, I bet, that starting pitching is the reason we have the best record in baseball. How would the staff that you would have planned for 3 years ago, looked compared to the staff that is in place? You can't project 90% of pitchers that far into the future.
  13. QUOTE(Ishmookie @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) He has 25 saves in 28 opps. Shingo was 8 for 9 in save chances, and he was run out of town. Mesa already blew 1 World Series, and that was before he had an AARP card.
  14. QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) gammons and bruuuuuuuce yes have inside info. offman isnt a baseball insider, and either steals info from others or makes stuff up. That's exactly right. In fact Offman gets most of his info from Levine, Gammons, Rosenthal and Stark through internet and radio and television reports. As crazy as it may sound, he also lurks a couple of message boards, this one included, looking for information.
  15. QUOTE(Ishmookie @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) id rather have a relief pitcher like jose mesa than a guy like huff Did you know that Jose Mesa has a 26 year old son?
  16. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) Who are we really competing for with respect to Huff? Boston? I don't think so. You think if Boston isn't able to unload Manny Ramirez that they are still shopping their best prospects to TB for Aubrey Huff? Is anyone else in the Huff market? Either TB is going to come down in price for Huff, or they are going to end up keeping him. Both results would be fine would me. There's a good chance Trot Nixon is out for the year. Boston wants Huff, and according to BP, Tampa likes their package for him better than what the White Sox were offering for him at least as of about midnight. Maybe the fact that they are in the same division may sway them to KW's offer.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) Just saw where the Score is reporting it's Huff or bust right now, with McCarthy not being involved in the deal. There's not a chance in hell we get Huff without giving up BMac. The Score is about as accurate as an mlb message board.
  18. I heard this last week and posted it in one of the Inside Pitch threads. Bruce Levine is slow. Supposedly if Nevin would have accepted the trade, Sammy would have been looking for work.
  19. Hey, Mr.Cub, Ernie Banks is also a no show this weekend. How come he's not going to get any flak?
  20. BP said Marte and McCarthy is the offer for Huff. They didn't mention Baez. They also claim to have a source that says TB likes Boston's offer for him better, and not to be surprised if TB does nothing. Either LaMar really is out of his mind, or McCarthy's stock is not nearly as high as previously thought.
  21. If KW can pull off a trade with TB its going to be a miracle. I like Huff, and the White Sox could really use him. I hope KW stays away from Baez, although he would give the Sox a Manny Trillo of Cubans. If the price for Guardado is a prospect, screw Baez, get Guardado and throw a few guys back to TB for Huff. That should be enough to win the division, and get some home field advantage at least in the first round.
  22. If you can't hit in Colorado.............................
  23. Stark has reported several times that the White Sox will either do something huge, or do nothing.
