  1. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) Didn't Levine crack the Ozzie extension story? And it's not like something has gone down that Levine didn't hint at before... He did crack it, and it was initially denied. Speculation was he got his info directly from Ozzie because it was reported a couple days before in one of the gossip columns, he was out to dinner with Ozzie.
  2. I think he started out 8-0 in the postseason. IIRC he is now 9-3. That's when he was a far more effective pitcher during the regular season. El Duque is nowhere close to a sure win in the playoffs even with healthy. He is also far from a sure thing even being available to pitch in the playoffs. We'll see how he does this weekend. People are calling it a playoff atmosphere. If you expect him to get bombed this weekend, you shouldn't expect anything else come October.
  3. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 05:11 AM) ProSportsDaily.com today is quoting the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, which says that if Boston obtains Burnett, they might flip him for Billy Wagner. Which would suck a couple of ways, I'd say. I read somewhere where KW was told the same thing. If he could get them Burnett, they would give him Wagner. I'd much prefer Wagner to Burnett. Its truly questionable whether Burnett is an upgrade over the Count.
  4. On the board tonight it said Vizcaino had an 0.60 ERA his last 10 outings. He gave up zero earned runs tonight. He had to get Manny Ramirez out twice after Joe Crede decided to look cool and do a little flip of his glove and dropped the ball. Most pitchers have had enough problems getting Ramirez out once in that situation. If people have a problem with Vizcaino tonight, they should also have a problem with Buerhle tonight, he coughed up some unearned runs as well. Boston is not the team you want to start kicking the ball around against.
  5. He has a championship and another finals appearance the last 2 years and the Pistons are so sick of him they paid him to go away, so therefore just about everyone who knows who he is has to be sick of him.
  6. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Did Willie pack and leave the stadium, too? You know that could be it as well. As much as they felt they needed Willie around because of Crede's back, maybe now they think they need Gload around because of Frank's ankle and Dye's bug bite.
  7. KW was just on AM1000 and mentioned nothing. Either the guy at WSI is full of it or there is something else to the story. Trade ? Maybe its to get him here in the event Dye needs to be DL'd? I wonder where the infection is? It looks like Frank was scheduled to have today off anyway.
  8. Supposedly he has an infection from a bug bite and Timo will be patrolling rightfield tonight.
  9. The other board has something about Gload being recalled to replace an injured Frank Thomas. Can anyone confirm?
  10. The starting pitcher picks which uniform the Sox wear.
  11. If you're making minimum payments on your credit card, you have no business owning one.
  12. How about the White Sox use Contreras as a closer? I don't know how long it would take him to warm up and such, but if he's focused and attacking hitters he would be hard to touch in one inning stints.
  13. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) I don't buy revisionism. It sucks. Every situation would've been different, including the way the pitches were called and how the defense was set for each batter. Farnsworth doesn't have a 1 run lead vs. 5 run lead style. They could have played the defense anyway they wanted, the 2 walks to start the inning would have still occurred. Dye most likely would have attempted to bunt. How that turned out and how the rest of the inning would have turned out is anybody's guess. But I'm confident at least 1 run would have scored, meaning the game would still be going on.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Oh no... Harris running for Crede... I swear if he gets picked off.. it aint gonna be pretty for Willie tomorrow night. Is he talking on his cell phone?
  15. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) you guys are the ones who are uneffing real. you really think this would be the same pitched bottom of the ninth with just a two run lead? come on you revisionists Farnsworth would have come in with a 1 run lead, and he gets a little tight if you know what I mean. He would have given up at least 1 run.
  16. Are they bringing in the dope that got clobbered Monday night?
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Uribe is not a good matchup against Farnsworth. Hopefully, he can walk. What did I tell you?
  18. Uribe is not a good matchup against Farnsworth. Hopefully, he can walk.
  19. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) After seeing this team play the past few weeks, I'm convinced we'd better add a stick in the middle of this lineup somewhere, or we are dead come playoff time. The heart of your order cannot be batting .230-265 in the playoffs like they have been all year...that's a death knell. Rowand's got to start hitting with some authority. He is usually pretty good in the second half, even before last season's breakout.
  20. Back to back dreaded leadoff walks. If Dye gets on base this will get interesting.
  21. Its a shame they put 4 runs on the board in the 9th. Farnsworth would have blown this game if it still were a 1 run game.
  22. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) I actually like our chances against those 4. None of them have ERA's under 4, and Miller's has been crap. And Clement's ERA is over 9.00 this month in 3 starts.
  23. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) well i don't like our chances against Clement tomorrow, hopefully Buehrle brings his A game. Clement hasn't been that effective lately. He may be entering his fade a little earlier this season. They go against Clement, Wakefield, Miller and Arroyo. They can win 3 of these games.
