  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) Day = Sinkerballer = Grounders......dur. See: Jon Garland. Now, I'm not saying he is gonna come in and be as good as Jon but they are similar pitchers. If its that simple what's with his ERA over 6.00 and all the walks? Its not like he's pitching for Tampa. He's got a pretty good defensive infield in Washington.
  2. I don't mind that Harris thinks he should be starting. I would think there was a problem if he thought he shouldn't be. That said, I think he sucks, and I don't think he going to ever be much of a player, at least for the White Sox.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Could be, but I think this board has a natural and somewhat likeable tendancy to overrate Chris Young and other prospects. Not raining on a parade here but Chris Young strikes out a lot and a big hole in the swing tends to get exploited. I must be losing my mind, because I am starting to view prospects like quickman. But one thing I can't understand is why a lot of people are down on Ryan Sweeney. Is it the fact that he has not hit a homer? Robin Ventura only hit 3 homers for Birmingham when he was 22 years old.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) So... Colorado loses Wilson's huge deal AND gets money? That makes no sense. I suppose that the money is going to Washington to help with the contract, but still... They would still be on the hook for part of Wilson's contract. The money going their way would be to defray some of that cost. The other problem with this trade is Wilson has to OK it, and it doesn't seem like he's too giddy about the idea. I would be shocked if KW kept Day, or if he did El Duque or Contreras would be gone.
  5. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) According to the Washington Post, the White Sox might get involved in a deal that would see Colorado OF Preston Wilson heading to the Nationals. Chicago could get Washington P Zach Day, and would ship prospects and money to Colorado this was on CBS Sportsline in the rumor section OK, I see it there. I think if the Sox got Day, he would be for someone else. AJ Burnett, or Jason Schmidt, or Guardado would be my guesses.
  6. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) the problem is that they are technicly trading for Preston Wilson. They are giving up the prospects for him at least. Wait is J.J. Davis still in the trade to Rockies. What publication is this story coming from anyway? Its not in any Denver paper, and I haven't seen it in the Washington DC papers.
  7. Day has also been injured each of the last 3 seasons, and walks a lot of batters.
  8. It looks like there is a $3+ million hang-up on the original trade. The White Sox aren't going to throw that kind of money Colorado's way to pick up Zach Day. I believe the report is erroneous.
  9. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) For tonights game Willie and Timo :fyou Timo did alright. Willie was absolutely horrible.
  10. Frank, just get on base. Everett has hit a couple peas tonight. He could be the hero.
  11. Lets see if I can keep it going. Street is in. This game is over.
  12. My complaining is working. Has anybody noticed?
  13. Maybe Walker will get lucky and all the ropes hit off him will be at somebody.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) Did someone say the execution of Willie Harris? Execution by Harris or of Harris each puts the Sox ahead tonight.
  15. Simple execution by Harris tonight, something pitchers do regularly in the NL, the Sox are winning this game right now.
  16. How slow is Konerko going to be 5 years from now?
  17. I wish I had as many off days as White Sox regulars. Good job Carl.
  18. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) wtf another s***ty call by the ump he was f***ing safe He was out. He shouldn't have slid.
  19. I bet some players took a look at Comerica's dimensions and decided it would be best to sit out than run the risk of being embarrassed. Its total speculation on my part, but that's why I think the format has changed.
  20. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) If that's true, then it's amazing we have the record we do. That number can't be true.
  21. Hey, DJ just in a roundabout way mentioned Ozzie's use of the Sunday line-up.
