The Gigantic all encompassing TRADE THREAD
Dick Allen replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
ESPN magazine thinks the Sox should get Hasagawa from Seattle. As far as Moyer goes, he's been pitching better in June, and I know KW was after him when he was a free agent after 2003. He gave up 44 homers last year, and only 6 so far this year. I wouldn't give up a top prospect, but maybe a middle tier guy for him if there wasn't anything better out there. I'm pretty sure KW has been working the phones hard looking to see what is and what could be availble in the next month. -
If Borowski was willing to go to Charlotte I'd sign him. There's nothing to lose and if he can't get his velocity up he stays there. I think the only time he's been effective this season was against the White Sox, and the first time if the wind wasn't howling in from LF at the Urinal one of the flyouts would have gone about 450 ft.

QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) If Puckett makes it, then Belle should make it. They both had to leave the game early for health reasons unrelated to baseball. Belle was a better player (hitter at least). Puckett was a main cog of 2 world championship teams, plus he was a media darling. That gets you votes that Belle won't get.

Kendall gill makes his boxing debut...
Dick Allen replied to qwerty's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Don't get too thrilled about his boxing prowess. The tomato he fought is now 0-2 and hasn't made it to the 2nd round. -
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Dye. I forgot he got beaned. AJ took care of that pretty quickly.

Something you don't see everyday. The only 2 guys in the White Sox starting line-up who reached base both got pinch hit for.

I have a window sticker with the Sox emblem. Underneath it there is Season Ticketholder. I suppose you could cut that off if you wanted. If you want it I can send it to you.

why does every "sellout" have a different
Dick Allen replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Comps don't count. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) He was also helped by 2 Gooch webgems in one inning and Dye gunning Aramis at the dish. Oh well, we lost. Crede's near homer snapped Maddux back into form. I think Cub pitching retired the last 14 hitters. You aren't going to win many games at USCF when the temperature is 90 and you only score 2 runs. I think the Messiah will get lit up tomorrow.
-
Contreras wasn't bad after the first 4 hitters. The 5th run scored when Konerko tried for an ill-advised DP with Patterson running. He had the runner dead at home. Cotts gave up a hit with Contreras' runner on for the sixth run. A rough first hurt.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) -Looking for some decent seats for friday july 8th against the a's. Rat pack night, let me know. use code UAN. It will give you a discount. There are decent seats available for that game.
-
He's offering a Sox/Cubs ticket for $15 in a decent location and nobody's claimed it?
-
QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) Or is it his sudden drop in velocity? Or both? Be very wary when you're ready to give up the farm for guys with unexplained velocity drops. Koch Supposedly he was hitting 95 his last start.

He is commenting on the All Star Game. He said LaRussa is going to load the team with Cardinals. Stoney had to correct him, and tell him the manager doesn't have much of a say as to the reserves this year. But here's the topper. He just called the Cardinals, a team that has lost 3 straight, and is 5-5 in its last 10, and is 5 games behind the White Sox, the hottest team in baseball. Oh, and he also said the toughest job in baseball is GM of the Mets. Go cry yourself to sleep, Steve.

DUBOIS AND HOLLANDSWORTH HOMER[/font] BOROWSKI PITCHES PERFECT 8TH CUBS LOSE HEARTBREAKER CUBS SELL OUT US CELLULAR FIELD
-
Maybe Dusty gets his roster info from Jeff Brantley.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) Because they are idiots. Flubs fans have only ever cared about the meaningless dinger every since the days of Sham-Me Sosa. I understand that. But this is Jason Dubois and the score is 12-2. Really, they are bigger idiots than we even thought they were.
-
What was the deal with the Cub fans going crazy when DuBois hit a homer? They're down 10 and you think they just won the World Series. Kudos to JR for bringing in some port a potties so those strokes can piss out their beer.
-
There's not a chance in hell. Whether its fair or not, he's burned so many bridges if he had hit 600 homers it probably would have taken him a few years to get in. The fact that he didn't win the MVP in 1995 is a travesty. I think the Hall of Fame vote would have gone the same way, if he had remained healthy.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Why the panic with getting a starter? I don't think its panic. I'd be fine with sticking with BMac in the 5 spot until El Duque is fully recovered for the next month or so. I think its setting yourself up to win more than just a division championship, and getting yourself in great shape to advance in the post season. You look at the post season series, there are more days of in between and teams usually only have to use 3 starters the first round. But then the #4 guy comes up a couple times the second round. How huge would it be if the Sox were able to throw Garland or Buerhle or Garcia or a guy like Schmidt or Pettite or whoever else is going to be available against a team's #4 starter and still be able to match or better them in slots 1-3? Not to mention, picking up a stud prevents the opposition from acquiring him.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) All we need is a 5th starter if El Duque can't stay healthy. Our top four guys are all good enough. And let the other contenders pick up the #1 starter? The Sox should try and pick up the best starter available. This is turning into a year like no other. Going for a 5th starter-type is the kind of conservative style that will have the White Sox watching the World Series on television just like they have the past 45 years, and not winning one the past 88.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) There is no such thing as cheaper than Bill Wirtz I believe Pohlad actually is worth more than Wirtz. A couple years ago, his revenue sharing check was actually for more than his payroll. He also tried to get a big payout to have his team contracted and almost did. Even Wirtz has never stooped that low.
-
For as much as Pods is allegedly the catalyst of the White Sox offense, they are 7-3 or 7-4 in games in which he has not played.
-
If Schmidt is throwing 95 again, would SF trade him?
-
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) Hahahahaha, funniest thing I've read all day. He's got to be the worst owner in baseball. He is cheaper than Bill Wirtz.
