  1. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) cliff polite reminds me of bobby thigpen set up man? can you name that man? Barry Jones?
  2. Hermanson is coming in. Brantley should be happy.
  3. ESPN is really selling USCF tonight. Can't complain about that.
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) Jeff Brantley takes another shot at the Sox 9 blown saves and Ozzie's misuse of Dustin Hermanson. All you have to do is listen to what he says to know he doesn't know what he's talking about. First the Sox have 9 blown saves. But how many more opportunities do they have? Also how many of those blown saves did they wind up winning anyway. Then he called Hermanson Chad again. Then he said bullpen by comittee is proven not to work. He obviously has no access to the standings. Don't listen to a word he says. ESPN should be embarrassed to have a guy so biased and clueless on its payroll.
  5. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 07:43 AM) I have a feeling it will be the Ozzie 3rd game line up. I better not see Timo out there. I have that feeling too, but Dye did get last night off, so Timo will probably be riding pine. The schedule is pretty favorable now to the All Star Break. Its a great time to bump up the win total, and let Minnesota and Cleveland know their only hope is for a wild card.
  6. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) The Couch article is dead wrong on at least one point. Reinsdorf did not want the new Comiskey Park built where it was. He wanted it in Addison. This is pretty much common knowledge, and was even back then. The State Legislature, led by Pate Phillips, refused to allow this, and mandated the new ball park's location. I believe Harold Washington was the man responsible for the location of USCF. You are correct. I think the current location was probably Reinsdorf's most unappealing option.
  7. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) Man I missed what looks like it was the game of the season. That was the most exciting game at USCF since Frank took Guardado deep to win the game in 2003. I think the Jose Paniagua era began and ended the next night or the night after that. The ninth inning was as wild as I have ever seen the park. Little old ladies with canes were high fiving everyone. As the Diceman once said,"Its unbelievable."
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) It was about as borderline as they come. It scraped about a sixteenth of an inch of the foul line before bouncing into the corner. Thank you. I thought it may have been foul because Ozzie came out again to talk to the umpire after the inning. It might have been because the umpire was looking for a fight. He was out in the outfield and started walking in yelling into the dugout.
  9. I was at the game and couldn't tell, was that double by Kent fair?
  10. It was a NY Post story. The other teams are Baltimore and SD. The Post is pretty much a ragsheet, but they were the first ones to have Iguchi to the White Sox IIRC.
  11. He's been pretty effective pitching with his current condition. How long does his contract run? If he's a free agent at the end of the year, I don't think KW would hesitate if he could make a deal that made sense.
  12. One of the dumber policies the White Sox have has to do with their season ticket exchange program. You can exchange unused tickets for upper deck tickets to some pre-selected games. But the dumb thing about it is you can't exchange them until the game for which the tickets you are going to be exchanging has been played. If two weeks before the game you knew you couldn't make it and wanted to exchange them, they could put those seats back in circulation. Maybe they want you to give them away. I would think that people who get their tickets for free probably tend to spend more on concessions and souveniers.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Yep, it's gotta be Carlos 'the crybaby' Zambrano. All he does is lick his fingers and play with his nuts on the hill. I mentioned that to someone once. Zambrano always appears like he's got the crabs.
  14. It wouldn't be a bad comment if he didn't say "no one is even close." Clayton is and was a good defensive player, but he was a cancer on the White Sox. Throwing around complements like that to players who where addition by subtraction is very odd to me.
  15. Wasn't Clayton released by the White Sox? Konerko needs to shut his mouth.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) My old one was Julie, she was tha s*** The best rep of all time was Brad. He was promoted. I think he does large groups. He would call you every now and then just to see how things were going. Since he left, I think its been 3 seasons now, I have never received a call from my rep despite numerous messages to call me. I never got e-mails. The only thing I would ever receive were the invoices.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Hmm.. I've always been told it's double the season seats. We have 4, so we get 8 to things like opening day, Cubs, playoffs (lol).. I don't know why Friday is more expensive (looking at the tickets right now)... that is very weird. Mine for all 3 games is $28. I bet you have upper reserved for Sat and Sun.
  18. Maybe it was part of the wrong form he sent me. Although I think my form for opening day was for double.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) $32 for Friday, $28 for Sat and Sunday. Were you not offered 8 initially..? We were offered 8 for each day. I was offered the up to the number of tickets in my account which is 2 per game. Why would Friday be more expensive?
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) FYI.. the tickets are $28.. not $25. The form was wrong. Yes, the form said $25 for UD Box, and I think $21 for UD reserved. I checked off the UD Box which on the bad form was $25, but I think over $30 in reality. I am not pissed at the form being wrong. What makes me mad is this guy charged me more than I authorized for worse seats than I authorized. A simple call would have straightened it all out. When I called back to correct the problem, I was told there were no more available and my only recourse was returning what I had for a full refund. That was what 4 months ago. Now people are buying them 8 at a time.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) I got several notices about buying extra tickets for the series in the mail. If season ticket holders complain about it now, its their own fault, cause I saw the letters. I got my form for extra tickets, and the form they gave me was wrong. It obviously was for Upper Deck seats, and I checked off the upper deck box and sent it in right away. The price looked wrong to me as it was $25. They wound up charging my credit card $28 per ticket, and gave me upper reserved up in the 17th row of 557. Total BS. My rep, (who is quite possibly the worst rep the Sox have ever had) never contacted me. Of course in the 3 years I've had him as my rep, (after having maybe the best rep the Sox ever had) he has never contacted me. I finally called again and he answered the main season ticket line. I knew it was him, but he had no idea I was his customer. He said they sent out the wrong form, and my rep should have contacted me. He asked for my name to find out who my rep was and when he found out he was my rep, the studdering began. He said I could send them back if I wanted, and that the pricing on the form was wrong. I think since I authorized $25 per ticket even though I checked off the Upper Deck Box, he went with the $28 price because that was closer to what I authorized. So I wind up with the crappiest seats in the house. At least they're extras. It really chaps my ass that they have these new lotteries for tickets and let people buy 8, that are far and above better seats than the tickets my dope of a rep got me. I have asked for a new rep 4 times, and have been given the run around each time.
  22. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) He damn near ran the St. Louis Cardinals out of St. Louis. He took bum franchises and made them respectable. That was a long, long time ago. And to be honest, I am not too familiar with his time in St. Louis. Things and people have changed. When he ran the White Sox in the 70's his team had to win to draw. Tell me how he made the White Sox of the late 70s respectable? They had 1 good season in 1977, not so coincidently the best attendance year. They were brutal in 76,78,79,80. Maybe if he dropped a mural of people over the closed outfield upper deck during many of the games those seasons, he would have drawn more.
  23. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) I cant believe that the Yankees are paying for all of it There's a loophole in the revenue sharing agreement where the Yankees won't have to pay into that if they are financing a stadium. I'm not sure if its the full amount, but its at least a huge percentage. I guess they figure it would be better to build a new stadium than help fund the competition.
