  1. Steve Phillips said the Sox would finish 72-90 two months ago. He hasn't wavered much on his opinion of the team. Let's see if he has the "testicular fortitude" to admit he was wrong. I doubt it.
  2. Go to Village Cycle on Wells. They have a website www.villagecycle.com. You can print coupons and look for deals on last year's models and older. You can look at their inventory on-line. I bought a hybrid there a couple of years ago, and ride it almost everday. Only have had one problem with my chain popping off and they fixed it no questions asked. If you buy a bike there it usually comes with a couple of comp tune-ups.
  3. This is the weakest excuse for losing of all time. If teams are watching the Cubs in the afternoon preparing for them, then couldn't the Cubs watch their opponents at night when their game is over?
  4. I know for a fact JR and Sam Smith, the "henchman" as Skiles referred to him, are friends. Sam is starting the smear campaign already, something we have seen so many times before. Skiles sees the handwriting on the wall.
  5. I believe the Denver paper has a story about it, because if the White Sox were not bought by Reinsdorf's group, there was a great chance they would be in Denver right now. Plus, many are curious around the country that you have 2 teams, one with the best record in baseball, and one very average, why the average team almost doubles the attendance of the one with the best record.
  6. If Willie gets sent down, you can cancel any playoff plans.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) I understand that, however that's not a play you can give an error on, so unfortunately Hermy takes the fall, I think he'll live You can't give him an error there, but you should be able to. He should be wearing the Oakleys watching the ball out of Hermanson's hand, not dealing with the flippers he never flipped. As far off as he was to that ball, I doubt he ever saw it off the bat.
  8. Podsednik didn't even have his glasses down.
  9. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Radio says about a 3:30 start. Buerhle's doing belly flops on the tarp. Good thing Jim Frye isn't the GM. He'd be paying a fine.
  10. It stopped raining here and is really brightening up. It feels like the temp dropped 20 degrees.
  11. QUOTE(I-HATE-CREDE @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) Oh, an aristocrat. Yeah. It doesn't look good for my polo match today.
  12. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) I'm betting you'll get a nice batch of rain within 20 minutes. I just got dark as night. It looks like its going to pour. You were right. You need to send your resume to Tom Skilling. He could use your help.
  13. Brantley has been anti-White Sox ever since he appeared on ESPN. He was ripping the Contreras/ELo trade last year talking up ELo like he was a 500 game winner. It was unbelievable. Of course, he never mentioned how wrong he was when ELo struggled and was almost traded again out of NY. I just don't pay any attention to him anymore. There must have been something in his playing days that has him holding a grudge.
  14. I'm 5 miles north of USCF, the clouds are starting to roll in, but it is still sunny, hot and humid. They'll get this game in.
  15. I bet the vendors at USCF love El Duque. They make a lot more money when he's on the hill.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) What the hell is Duque's pitch count? I'm biting my nails with every single pitch. Its seems like it should be about 250, but its in the upper 80s to low 90s right now.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) Jermaine dye is on fire. Is Hawk sick or something? I have heard his voice crack at least 3 times. Hawk has a cold or something.
  18. QUOTE(Ozzie's Accent @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) Konerko advances to second on a wild pitch. A triple will now score him. I was laughing outloud at this post. Thank you.
  19. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) The horse's mouth wouldn't be stupid enough to show their cards and lower the trade value of their players. How much did BMac's trade value rise when KW said he isn't trading him? How much did Chavez's trade value rise when Beane said he isn't trading him? The answer is it didn't do squat. If you want to move a player you want everyone who would be interested to know he could be had if the price was right. You don't want to say he's not available and not have teams inquire. That would be like stores not advertising their sales, or not even advertising at all. There are very few teams that could or would take on Chavez's contract. You don't want to negotiate with one team exclusively. What exactly is Chavez accomplishing saying he doesn't even want to play in Chicago? You would think if he wanted to play here he would say it, putting Beane in a corner, and lowering his value to make his wish come true.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) It's a valid rumor because it makes sense for both parties. You're kidding yourself if you think there is nothing to it just because the parties involved say nothing is going to happen, of course they're going to say that, what would you expect?? Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying a trade is going to happen but just because Chavez says he's not going anywhere and kenny says nothing is going to happen means absolutely nothing. Your kidding yourself if you buy an unsubstaniated rumor from which there is no source over the horse's mouth.
  21. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Dick although i completely agree this won't happen at this point, i do think that Chavez is a huge upgrade despite his current play. He will not hit this way all year, and in addition he is a tested pro and big time player. I would much rather have Chavez up in the ninth in a playoff game with the bags loaded than crede. So would I. But despite his struggles, Crede has driven in some big runs in his career. I'm not crazy enough to say Crede is better than Chavez. No way. And I know Crede is represented by Scott B. which means if he ever performs at the level the organization was hoping he would perform, the contract he played under would be his last with the White Sox. I don't think KW would be opposed to placing Crede in a trade.
