QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 14, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) On top of getting rocked, he was yanked in the 4th for "forearm tightness'. It's only a matter of time, he's the next arm casualty. You're right about that. He's had those cramps a few times. Forearm stiffness the start after Dusty leaves the 23 year old stud in for 135 pitches. I hope he's managing the Cubs for the next 25 years. He won't because they will run out of pitchers with his abuse.

QUOTE(knightni @ May 14, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) I still stand behind my "Garcia is average" statement. I think he's better than average. He's not the ace many thought he was. He's not the pitcher he was 4 or 5 years ago, but he can still be dominating. He's had a couple bad games in a row. It happens. Remember when Buerhle was 2-10 a couple of years ago? Freddy is a solid #3( not many teams have a #3 who can hold his jock) which is exactly what he is with Garland stepping up.

Maybe Freddy's inner ear infection has returned.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 14, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) While this game was hard to watch.... We have to remember we are still 27-10 and in position to take 3 out of 4 from one of the hottest teams in baseball besides us. And to add in all the hate, I think the biggest mistake of the game was when Cora sent Konerko home... that was just dumb, i understand Cora is aggressive but that was more dumb than aggressive. Joey has to quit waving guys in who are out by 40 feet. That was ridiculous. Sending Garcia out in the 7th was a bonehead move. Only having Cotts warm up left me scratching my head. Vizcaino has appeared in 12 games coming into tonight. He seemed like he was in every game the first 2 weeks of the season, but has rarely pitched recently. Politte and Marte should be well rested. Use the bullpen.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 14, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) His velocity may be down, I don't really know what his pattern is there, and I wasn't really watching today. But I'm pretty sure Cabrera throws it harder, anyway. The gun at USCF had Cabrera at 95 most of the night, and Garcia between 91 and 93. Freddy's not pitching in Seattle anymore, his ERA is going to go up, but he'll be alright. He's better than he pitched tonight. When Cotts has control he is tough. Unfortunately he rarely has control, and its not going to come to him pitching every 8th or 9th day. IMO Walker is a waste of a roster spot.

If you have 2 or 3 guys with you, it would cost just a little more to take a taxi. Far more convenient from Union Station if you ask me.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 13, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) My dad, uncle, and cousin ran into Hawk Harrelson in the Plaza area of Kansas Notable exception: Pat Foley, Blackhawk broadcaster. Nothing but bad stories about him. I used to play basketball with Pat Foley at the YMCA in Des Plaines several years ago. He was sort of an ass, and one of those players that thought he was pretty good when in reality he sucked big time.

Ozzie can't continue with these 2 clowns in the 4 and 5 hole much longer. Its time to move them down in the order until they start to hit. Konerko did have a big hit Wednesday, but they have been few and far between lately. Dye has just been brutal. Keep Rowand 3rd, have Everett bat clean-up, put either AJ or Crede 5th, the other one 6th, Konerko 7th and Dye, if he must play 8th. Or even move Uribe to the 5 hole. He appears to be ready to go on a real hot streak now.

What is the earliest they will call the game?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 12, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) Wouldn't that be forfeiting the game then? You are at the feet of your schedule, you can't just say, I don't want to play today. Especially considering they don't have a game the day after Sunday and they are playing in KC Tuesday. That means they have to play. I don't think they could just play the makeup game/s at Baltimore because that would be loss of revenue and 1 more away game than they were supposed to have. If US Cellular is undergoing major weather problems, they would have to play it on a neutral site if anything. Just like FLA last year. No they have the right to refuse to play, but if they think the game would be made up in Baltimore, they have another thing coming. For one thing the series at Baltimore is already a 4 gamer, and the White Sox aren't going to agree to give up a home date. If a game got washed out, the Orioles would have to fly into Chicago on a mutual off day at some point during this season. The only reason I can think of that they would rather do that than play a DH on Sunday is that Sosa isn't with them so they don't consider themselves at full strength. Other than that, I think their decision is very foolish. It does look like they will be able to get all the games in anyway. -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 12, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) He needs to be bench coach. He would actually make a damn good manager, he just didn't have players in KC. Doesn't seem like they want to keep their good players either minus Mike Sweeney. Hopefully Tony could knock some sense into Ozzie if he does come in here, like brining in your 3 worst relievers into a tie ballgame. One of the biggest criticisms of Pena, and this dates back to their miracle beginning of 2003, was his handling of pitchers. There was an espn.com writer who said even when the Royals were in first place that Pena should be fired.

Regardless of how many people actually show up, they have a lot of tickets sold for tonight's game, and will do anything possible to get the game in. If it does get called, it would probably be very late tonight. -
If Everett has sore legs as a DH, forget about his poor defense, but how long could he possibly last playing the field when Thomas gets back?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Wasn't the whole reason for signing him a favor to his agent Art Tellem to help us with the Frank negotiations at the end of the season? It might have been a favor to Tellem, but that would never have affected the negotiations with Frank. Tellum and JR have a very good relationship. It was JR who recommended Tellem to Frank.

Do you think everyone will remember where they were and what they were doing 25 years from now when asked about the time Konerko and Dye had back to back hits? -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 11, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) The Pirates just released Benito Santiago, and he was making over $2 million. If the f***in Pittsburgh Pirates can cut that much money, we can cut half. Why not bring up Anderson as the 4th OF? He can honestly not do much worse. The Royals are paying most of his salary. -

Timo getting picked off likely didn't cost the White Sox any runs. With Konerko striking out, Dye would have had to get a hit to score anymore. Very unlikely. -

Let this pitcher hang himself. He's given up 9 homers in 36 innings. I believe either Iguchi, Rowand or Konerko will go deep this time through the line-up. -

QUOTE(mreye @ May 11, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) Why? This lineup can't win? Why watch? Why are you reading the play by play here if you already know the outcome? Maybe because he's a fan. Read his posts. They are consistently as intelligent and accurate as any on this board. -

Dye as a DH is a joke. Giambi is hitting .195 and they are contemplating sending him to the minors. Dye is hitting .194 and he bats 5th as the DH. -
Doesn't anyone know? The Cubs and their fans don't care at all about their series with the White Sox or about the White Sox at all. It is White Sox fans who have the fascination with the Cubs.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 10, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Sign me up!! Dye is a notorius slow starter and has been showing signs of life on the offense...needs to step up the defense though... He is not a notoriously slow starter. April has been one of his better months of his career. Check his splits. He hasn't been a very good player for several years, and now his defense appears to be in freefall. Thank God the White Sox have a decent replacement in the minors. Next year Dye will be worse than Jason Giambi currently is.

QUOTE(mreye @ May 10, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) I hope to God it's not the Father. It appears it is the father who "found" them who will be charged. The guy just got out of jail in Texas last month. If he did it and there is any justice in the world..............
