Actually, most players do only get payed from April until the end of September.
-
So you're saying the White Sox haven't put a spin on this entire situation. That Magglio and/or his people are to blame? FWIW, my source with the White Sox swears they knew about his surgery.
-
I'm sure the timing has everything to do with the arbitration deadline.
-
That's a little different. If your employer knew of your hand injury and told you of a european doctor who may be able to help you, and you flew out to see him or her, and said doctor recommended surgery and performed it on you, your employer, who already determined you would be able to work for the rest of the length of your contract, wouldn't be shocked by your decision to have surgery. They gave you the benefits book, they didn't recommend a doctor. Magglio is gone. Maybe he could have handled things better. He was being advised by his new agent. People need to get off of the Magglio is an asshole kick they are on, and remember how he represented this team with class and all star performance.
-
Boras is a lot like the National Enquirer. A lot of what he says is fabrication, but there also is some truth in what he says. The White Sox haven't been so honest with injuries this past season, either.
-
I not going to argue with you, I am just saying that if Boras is telling the truth, the doctor they recommended to him suggested surgery. It was performed. If they didn't want this guy to perform surgery maybe they shouldn't recommend Magglio fly out to Vienna to see him. Maybe they didn't know he needed additional surgery, and it would be consistant because the White Sox doctors were pretty stumped with this injury from the beginning. They didn't know he needed surgery in May. Referring someone to a european doctor would suggest the White Sox medical team knew Magglio would need additional care.
-
The doctor the team recommends, tells him he needs another operation. He has it. That's not lying. The White Sox are deceiving their fan base, trying to put a spin on the fact they are losing a great talent and getting nothing in return. At this point, I wouldn't sign him either. I wouldn't offer him arbitration. The guy got hurt. Why can't they just leave it at that? The reason the White Sox are full of s*** is they are making themselves out to be the victims, when in reality they are the victors. If Magglio's injury is as devasating as some believe, his turning down their offer last summer will be one of the greatest things to ever happen to this franchise. The fact that players almost always seem to leave this team in a cloud of controversy is becoming old. The organization needs to be above that. I blame KW for flapping his gums too much.
-
Someone at that fine learning institution should tell its new coach that the s at the end of Illinois is silent.
-
That's in the context of negotiation. This is not. KW has yet to deny Boras's claim, and if he or anybody else in the organization doesn't, you know the White Sox were full of s*** on this one.
-
Boras is now saying the White Sox gave Magglio the name of the doctor in Vienna who performed his surgery, and that they gave it to him before Boras became his agent. Looks like the White Sox spin on losing their best player for nothing is starting to unravel.
-
Levine reiterated the potential Vazquez 3 way, said his sources told him Boras gave the White Sox MRIs on Magg's knee. Wills mentioned the Sox may be interested in Willie Alvarez as a long reliever spot starter swing man.
-
I can assure you Boston would never trade for Carl Everett.
-
Maybe $ comes the Sox way. Vazquez with the Yankees picking up a lot of the tab, at $4-5 million a year, is a huge steal. It would possibly leave money to pick up a good middle infielder and a RF replacement for Maggs.
-
It doesn't. Simmons has been outplaying Dunleavy. The only explaination is it is the Clippers.
-
If Zook is such a great recruiter, and a great coach who really was a victim of Spurrier's laziness his last few years, why did Florida FIRE him?
-
High rise fires is a huge story in Chicago, especially after last year's tragic fire in the County Building., where a friend of mine was killed. While I would rather watch the game, you can't fault ABC for covering this story.
-
It actually has been talked about supposedly. They said the Warriors are in the process of doing background checks on Curry.
-
I've seen him coach a few games. Trev Alberts and Mark May were all over him last couple years, especially during the Outback Bowl last season when Iowa walked all over them. 7-4 is pretty optimistic for the Illini the next 2 or 3 years. If Zook thought Spurrier left the cubbard bare in Florida, just wait until he sees the high school team Ron Turner left him. Zook is an assitant coach, maybe a great assistant coach. He is just not head coaching material.
-
You'll be saying the same thing about Zook in a couple years.
-
Zook may be a good recruiter, but he is in way over his head as a head coach. He won't win much at Illinois, but then again, who would? As an Iowa grad, I am happy he's there.

Sweetney would be nice to have, but Wilcox is better than Curry, and Simmons is having a breakout season. Either trade would help the Bulls, getting rid of the dog named Curry would be a step in the right direction, but they won't be serious contenders until they acquire one of the top 10 players in the league.
-
espn insider has a rumor the Bulls trade Curry to Golden State, Dunleavy goes to the Clippers to play for his dad, and the Bulls get Chris Wilcox and Bobby Simmons. They said Golden State was doing background checks on Curry at the present time. I have no idea why the Clippers would do this, both Wilcox and Simmons are better than Dunleavy, but they ARE the Clippers. Paxson, I'm sure would make this trade in a heartbeat.

we've watched KW work for 4 off seasons. Although it is way too early, it early indications indicate this offseason's philosophy is no better than the other years when he has failed. I've been a huge supporter of ownership, but if they really think they can win, and hold payroll at about the same level, they are a lot more crazy as those people who thought the Sox could make up 3 games on Cleveland in 1997.

White Sox doctors examined Magglio several times. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with him, and if Boras is being straight and Maggs just had another small meniscus tear, then they misdiagnosed him at least 3 times. Texsox is absolutely right. Magglio is just doing what all these other players people are salivating over did. Its backfired, and cost him money. There were no secret surgeries. The White Sox knew of the surgery in Vienna. They didn't release it to the public until some reporter broke the story. BTW, it was already determined he was out for the season before said surgery.
