  1. They have got to teach the infielders to let popped up bunts drop. Its an easy DP
  2. Infield hit for Carl. Sacks packed with Sox. Everett injured.
  3. Its the Tigers without Ivan Rodriquez. They should be relaxed.
  4. You're right. Carl has to earn his paycheck now.
  5. Didn't Willie used to drive the ball a little bit? He is pathetic now.
  6. Paulie comes through. Now hopefully Detroit won't hit the ball to Valentin.
  7. Willie needs to go to Charlotte. Lets get somebody in Chicago who isn't afraid to make things happen.
  8. I'd love to get excited, but this is the team that had 6 consecutive batters reach base and only scored 1 run.
  9. I agree, I don't think either Benson or Zambrano will be able to hack it in NYC.
  10. Jim Duquette. I believe he is Dan Duquette's (the much maligned former GM of the Red Sox) cousin.
  11. Not at all. They needed a set up guy, Billy Koch had been handling that job. Mota is one of the best in the business. They needed a catcher, LoDuca is pretty good. Encarcion is a decent ballplayer. The Marlins are loaded with starters, so Penny was expendable. This is a great trade for the Marlins.
  12. When Magglio Ordonez was 19 he hit .216 in the first of 3 seasons of A ball. He was an impact player by the time he was 24. I'll guarantee you Sweeney has played less baseball in his 19 years of life than Magglio had at the same point. Obviously, this means nothing about future progress, but this guy has talent, and should get a lot better. His average and power have increased as the season has gone on, and he has adjusted to wooden bats. Getting rid of guys like this for anything less than a sure thing, something Floyd is far from, is stupid. If Sweeney develops like many feel he will, he will be a bargain for several seasons. I am so happy this "deal" wasn't true. I'd love to take you up on your 10 to 1 Sweeney becomes an impact player bet.
  13. Trading prospects for players that have seen their better days is dangerous. KW trades Sweeney now, that's one less chip, one less huge chip he has to play with in the future. If KW does this, and I am still very skeptical, it probably will be a career defining moment for him. If Floyd gets hurt or doesn't produce, and the Sox farm system is down another top prospect, KW probably should be looking for work. If Floyd gets hot and leads the Sox deep into the playoffs, KW is executive of the year, and will elevate his status to GM as long as he wants to be.
  14. I don't think I would trade a guy with the potential of Sweeney for someone likely to join Magglio and Frank on the DL. He gets hurt almost every year. Floyd is already hinting at retirement, and doesn't want to play here, even though he is from the area. The White Sox were one of the 4 or 5 teams he couldn't be traded to in his last contract.
  15. A nothing prospect isn't going to push the deal over the top for Pittsburgh. This is scaring me.
  16. Gammons is reporting Benson is going to the Mets for a couple of players. He also said the White Sox will send Pittsburgh a minor leaguer. My guess is the Sox get Shane Spencer. Gammons said KW wanted to make sure Minnesota didn't get Benson.
