OZZIEBALL-ITS AN ATTITUDE
-
Isn't Jose the great team leader? Would it be too much to ask to get 1 single in 10 games?
-
The fact is he blew yesterday's game, which cost the Sox 2 games to Minnesota in the standings. He is also the reason they are trailing tonight. All his backers kiss his ass when he hits 3 homeruns in a 17-4 win. Look at how he's done during the biggest stretch of the season. He has 3 hits the last 10 games, all homeruns. How about shortening your stroke and trying to help the team win. He hasn't provided the offense when we needed it. He had no hits against the Twins last series. He defense may cost us 2 consecutive games. His baserunning, usually spectacular, has been brutal of late. He needs to sit down for a while.
-
If this was meant for me, no I don't think he's going to hit one now. But if you look, some of his "big" homeruns, basically made up for horrible plays in the field. So he was even, not the great clutch hitter many think he is. He sucks, and is really proving it the last 4 or 5 games.
-
Get over the homers. He only hits a couple that matter, usually after he botches a play in the field.

Have the Valentin lovers seen enough to admit they are wrong?
-
Cattalanano or whatever his name is has an injury that requires surgery. He will play in pain for the rest of the year, but has to run at 60%. I say sign him in the offseason, forget about it now. I think Otis is full of crap.
-
Whether it was a cheap shot or not doesn't matter. He put a hurting on one of the Sox players. The message that this will not be tolerated needs to be sent. The best way is a fastball to Hunter's earhole on his helmet.
-
I think his contract is up at the end of this year. Maybe they get a prospect or an established player for someone they will lose anyway? It does seem odd that Toronto wouldn't want to keep him around, although he really can't field at all. I would love to see Hairston on the Sox. I don't trust Otis.

Anyone else pleasantly surprised with...

I keep waiting for the clock to strike midnight on Burke, but he keeps on performing. -
I think its pretty sad when Torii Hunter gets to hit a homerun before he's knocked on his ass. He should have had to go up to the plate every at bat thinking he was going to get beaned.

ESPN is reporting it is the Yankees or nobody. Johnson is known as being a prick btw.He started fighting teammates in Seattle when he wanted to be traded. He had an altercation with Luis Gonzalez, who is known as one of, if not the nicest guys in professional sports. It would dissapoint me greatly if he demanded to be traded to one particular team. If he says he will only approve a trade to one team , that's another story. He has a no trade clause, so that would be his right.

Quit talking about all his huge hits. This was the biggest series of the year if not the biggest. He didn't get 1 hit. He got on base 1 time, and was thrown out at 3rd with 0 outs by 25 feet. Then he drops a pop up and the Sox lose. This loss is all on him. It cost the Sox 2 games vs. Minnesota. The biggest series of the year, and he doesn't show up. That's pathetic. Awesome defensively? You should go back and review the games.
-
It is Jose's fault. He finally gets on base, and runs the Sox out of a big inning. Shingo, who has had control problems everytime he has gone more than 1 inning, is out of the jam if Jose catches a ball little leaguers would catch. Nathan would not have been brought in if the game where still tied.
-
And Borchard doesn't bat if the resident genius leaves Rowand in the game, a better offensive and defensive player at this point.
-
Oh, another fine play by Jose. For all those backers of Jose, 0-11 in the 3 game set. Baserunning blunder, and huge error.
-
If it hasn't hit the ground before passing 3rd base, it all depends on where it lands. Fair territory, its fair, foul territory, its foul.
-
The Espn article claimed Burke was blocking the plate. He was not. It was a cheap shot. Hunter went out of his way to nail Burke. He would have arrived at the plate a little sooner had he just ran right in there was no play on him.

Its from the Newark Star Ledger, and that's been about as accurate as the National Enquirer, but one of the Big Units agents supposedly demanded a trade to the Yankees and made veiled threats that Johnson would cause a lot of problems if the D-Backs don't honor the request. If this is true, Johnson, who won a World Series with Arizona, and seemingly has had no problems collecting a huge paycheck from them, (even last season when he was injured and horrible) is a spoiled brat. His agent Barry Meisser or whatever his name is, should be decertified if he made that threat. I guess $16-17 million a year doesn't buy gratitude or loyalty these days. Johnson is a world class jerk.

A guy I always liked and who may be available, although he is signed through next year is Dmitri Young. He can play a few positions, none very well, and can hit. I think he has played LF, RF, 3B, and 1B.
-
Wasn't that the argument the Sox had when the sent Wunsch down, that they had too many LH relievers? I'd take Eddie, his stats indicate better success against RH batters than LH this season. Of course, unless you are an All Star LH batter, you get pinch hit for when he is in the game.
-
I don't understand calling up Borchard and having him sit on the bench. The only way he is going to get better is to play.
-
The Sox core has major experience. Konerko, Lee, Valentin, Everett, Loaisa, Garcia, Buerhle. The Sox don't need any veteran leadership, they have it. One guy who provides said leadership is Mike Jackson, and do you want him on the mound when the game is on the line? The White Sox need guys that can get people out or guys who can drive in big runs. At this stage of the game, Olerud provides neither. He wasn't very good last year either.
-
He might not, but he should get the opportunity, unless KW goes and gets a veteran. Olerud is not a good idea in my mind for a couple of reasons. The first being, I don't think he can play anymore, and the second, acquiring him puts Everett back in the outfield. Not only is he even worse than last year out there (if you remember his attempts in LF against the White Sox a month ago) but he has been injured, and going back out in the field my make him aggrevate those injuries.
