This rumor was reported in the LA Times. I doubt its true. As much as I am not a fan of Valentin, this would make the White Sox even more right handed. Manos is a favorite of KW. The LA Times is a Tribune Co. paper, btw.

Its the right move. There's no guarantee he'd be able to play through the pain, and even if he could, how effective he would be. Also he might have hurt something else compensating for this injury. Hopefully, it will be closer to 4 weeks.

His ERA and record this season would indicate he is done. As Ozzie said before, if Tampa Bay doesn't want you, its time to find something else to do.

What's the deal with the White Sox doctors' original diagnosis? Did they import these guys from the Red Sox? He sees the White Sox doctors, he is day to day. He sees the Oakland doctors, there seems to be something wrong. He goes to the Angels doctor, there definitely is something wrong. I hope the Oakland and Anaheim doctors drew a nice picture so the White Sox doctor knows were to stick in the arthroscope. This really sucks. Hopefully it will be closer to 4 weeks. These new team doctors scare me.

You're the one who always makes stuff up. First your absurd comment about how baseball is "littered" with players with 50+ hrs and 150+rbi in the minors who never "dented" the majors. Turns out "littered" meant one. Now you say since 2000 , Jose has only 3 less sac bunts than Robbie Alomar. Again you are wrong. Jose had 2 more than Alomar in 2000, 1 less in 2001, 3 less in 2002, 5 less in 2003. He has 2 more this season, but Alomar has hardly played. That's 5 you made up 3. At least you are getting closer. I'm sure Robbie's percentage is a lot higher, and has a lot less strikeouts after bunt failures than Valentin. -

That's just the last 10 games he's failed 4 times. He's a poor man's Dave Kingman now. How many times has R Alomar failed? He wasn't called on to sacrafice much when he was hitting .330. -

Its his 4th. I either watch or go to every game, and watch, not spending my time bowing to his poster. He has 3 successful sacrafices this season. He can't even get a bunt down half the time. Pitchers do better than that. Strikeouts hurt the team with men on base. He is a master. -

Jose's failure to get a bunt down ultimately set the DP up, and killed the inning. It is the 4th time in the last week and a half he has failed to get a bunt down. He has to move the runner. If he is incapable of even getting a bunt down vs. a LHP, he should be sitting next to Ozzie. -
Gammons complements the Sox, but doesn't know our
Dick Allen replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In Gammons defense, I'm sure he is talking and someone is typing in the chat. He probably said Ken but it sounded like Tim going through his wooden teeth. -
Actually, Konerko has a higher on base, and higher sluggling average vs. RHP than Simon. So does Gload. Simon having a breakout season? He has only batted 44 times with 0 hr and 2 rbi.

I have a little information. Its one of those friend of a friend deals, but this article seems to back it up. ESPN is doing one of those celebrity roast deals for Dan Patrick, and were expecting the White Sox to buy a bunch of tables. Evidently, they haven't and aren't going to buy even one. They are desperately trying to sell tables on stubhub. I don't know if the Sun-Times is co sponsoring this event, but I was told that Mariotti has been told in no uncertain terms to lighten up his White Sox and more specifically his JR bashing. So this way, he still gets a couple up licks in, but can still put a postive spin on the column. He is a loser.

Jon Rauch Likely Finished in Sox Organization
Dick Allen replied to Obi-Wan Kenobi's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They gave him a shot today, and he was awful. He was lucky he only gave up 5 runs. Granted they really set him up to fail by not pitching him during his regular turn, he was held back and might not be as sharp. But its the big leagues, the team is in first place, Rauch has to realize they don't have time to dick around with him now. He needed to perform, and he didn't. -
I'm pretty sure they were draft picks from last year.

Jon Rauch Likely Finished in Sox Organization
Dick Allen replied to Obi-Wan Kenobi's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Obviously what he did was wrong, and its supports the notion that a couple of people have stated here about what kind of person he is. But shouldn't they wait to get an explaination from him before this declaration? Of course, there could have been other things that have come up that we don't know about, and he could have been warned about his behavior. Either way, it doesn't appear to be much of a loss for the organization. He was lucky he only gave up 5. -
Unfortunately for Jose, his agent can't really sell foul ball homeruns when negotiating a contract. His bunting for sacrifice has been horrible lately. There has been 3 times the last week he didn't get the job done. There is a big difference between striking out and making outs other ways. If you hit the ball, you make the defense make a play, you also can advance runners. Pitchers tend to not pitch as well with runners on 2nd and 3rd, as opposed to 1st and 2nd. Thats not even taking into consideration passed balls and wild pitches. Two four K games with one three K game in a week is unacceptable.

I have bashed Koch in the past, but the USCF gun had him at 97 last night. Is the gun inflated? I don't know, but it was a higher reading than anyone else. Frankie Francisco was hitting 96, which is where he is supposed to be, so Koch must be throwing harder. Batters are taking some funny swings off him now, something they haven't done before.
-
He said something along the lines that fans come up to him and tell him they know the game. He said he has been around MLB for 40 years and he doesn't even know the game. Basically said with all the complexities, no one knows the game. It wasn't meant as a putdown.
-
One bad game? He is a career .207 hitter against LHP with no power. This year in 42 AB he has 8 hits 2 rbi and 0 HR. Oh, and 19 k's. If Ozzie must play him against LHP, they should let the pitcher hit, and DH for Valentin.

Wood out for possibly a month
Dick Allen replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
They don't know what is causing pain in his elbow, and yet they claim he'll be back in 3 weeks. Don't believe it. So the doctor is saying "I don't know what it is, but it should be gone in a week". This injury reminds me so much of Danny Wright's injury in Spring Training last year. -
Who likes to watch the game at the upper deck?
Dick Allen replied to bulokis's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I haven't sat up there for a few years, but I bet you will be pleasantly surprised by the view. If you are in the infield in the first few rows, it totally blows away the view from the bleachers, and lower reserved. -
LTP=Light Tower Power, which was the scouting report on him when the Sox drafted him.
