  1. This game is on Ozzie. Garland should have been long gone.
  2. I was sitting right behind home yesterday, and Wright had good movement. He was busting bats left and right. It was a little cold and he hasn't pitched in a while, that could have affected his command. All in all, he didn't have a bad outing. If they give him the ball every fifth day, he will do just fine. If his starts are going to be infrequent and inconsistent, they should move him to the bullpen, where I think he could really excel.
  3. Danny was fine on Sunday. If Valentin could field, he wouldn't have given up a run in the first. If Rowand could bunt or at least advance a runner , he would have beat Mussina and the Yankees. Considering he hasn't pitched for a while he did pretty well. He will only get better with consistent work. I do think he would make a great closer though. He throws real hard.
  4. My wife and I will be attending. We don't get in until Thursday evening, but will be at the Friday, Saturday and Sunday games.
  5. He doesn't have any problem getting wood on the groupies.
  6. I agree. I saw enough last year, and during spring training to know he doesn't have much. The fact that Guillen pulled him with the Sox leading by 3 speaks volumes about what he and the organization really feel about Koch. If he's truly the closer, which Ozzie says he is, why do they yank him in that situation? You knew Marte would face a righty, so it isn't for the lefty/righty match-up. Hopefully, Marte's average spring and horrible start aren't the signs of what's to come.
  7. In his latest column, Gammons has the Cubs winning the World Series. He predicts Colon and Wood as Cy Young winners as well. Considering he is never right, in fact, couldn't be more wrong in most instances, these prognostications are reasons to rejoice on the South Side.
  8. Wright didn't have surgery. He had some pain in his elbow last spring, which caused him to get behind. He didn't pitch much, and couldn't locate at all. If he has control, he is a very good pitcher. That just hasn't happened consistently yet.
  9. If you could get Washburn for Wunsch, you would move Shoe back to the bullpen, and suddenly things don't look so dire anymore. I doubt they could make this trade without giving up at least a better than average prospect.
  10. The Mets are looking to trade Scott Erickson. He doesn't have to accept a minor league assignment, and has pitched well this spring. Their bullpen only has Stanton and Franco from the left side. The White Sox could probably use Erickson, although I hear he is a Class A Asshole. Just a thought. I think the money is about the same.
  11. KW was after him when he played for Montreal......
  12. The problem is : Billy has been experiencing a "dead arm" period ever since he came to the White Sox. It appears it won't be corrected by opening day. KW should be working the phones for relief help right now.

    KW

Wasn't KW the one who last week said that everyone was loose, and that may be what was wrong with this team in the past? Now, at least a few players will be wondering if his idiotic comments were about them, and will tighten up. Why can't KW just go to the player in question, and talk to him about it like a man?
  14. It hit him square on the head, but his skull is so thickened by steroids, he didn't even flinch.
  15. I've noticed most of the games have been 2 1/2 hours or less. The vendors are going to be even more unhappy.
  16. Ginter will never be a good set up man ormiddle reliever, unless he figures out how to get lefties out. They hit .390 off him last year, and something like .350 off him in Charlotte. It has been a problem his whole career.
  17. He is signed for $850,000 this season.
  18. I know it would never happen, but he is a steal at $5.5 million. The Mets were interested in him, and they don't have any top notch pitching prospects.
  19. That's the problem. The "pop" in his bat is history.
  20. I would love Soriano. He seems to be available. He's brutal defensively, but he's a good bet for 40/40 away from Yankee Stadium. You could move him out to the outfield when Magglio leaves, and not lose any production.
  21. Magglio will not be back next year. But the good news is, Willie Harris will hit .350 at Charlotte this season, after being sent down after hitting .186. Next Soxfest will we hear how Willie is ready to bust out on the major league level.
  22. Harold is the anti-Ozzie personality-wise. This may work.
  23. I agree with you, especially with a manager with no experience. I have just felt the team has been grooming Harold for something the past year or so, and will probably offer him this job. Whether or not that is a wise choice remains to be seen.
