  1. Maybe he's throwing his voice. If he sold hot dogs for a game or 2 and delivered a couple or 10 to Rooney, he'd be back in his good graces.
  2. What did I tell you. BTW may last post was supposed to be green.
  3. Taxi's from the airports? Airport fees? How does this effect every taxpayer in Illinois? That is what I'm responding to. I don't think people not in Chicago use taxi's on a regular basis. What are the airport fees? If its a revision it was revised AFTER Comiskey Park was built. Any revision would be to cover the costs of McCormick Place and Soldier Field, so don't get that mixed up with the Cell. The Cell does get a small portion for upkeep.Funny how the state's website and the ISFA website say nothing about these other fees or revisions to the charter. They both say the money comes from a 2% city hotel tax, rent from the White Sox, if it applies, and fees for other events, like the Rolling Stones, Springsteen, etc.
  4. No you are wrong. The Illinois Sports Facilities Authority gets its money from a hotel tax which is collected in the City of Chicago only. I just looked it up on the state's website. The only taxpayers who footed the bill for this park are people who have stayed in Chicago hotels. Look it up for yourself.
  5. You want to know what the scalpers are selling the tickets for..? Face or under. I have yet to see one selling them over this year for anything but the AS festivities. Anyone else..? You can get them by the 35th st. EL stop pretty cheap, never over face, unless maybe the Cubs.
  6. This is great, a NEW reason not to attend White Sox games." I bought a ticket for the upper deck, and they actually want me to sit in the upper deck". The gall.
  7. Yeah.. you were not at all rude or confrontational... Steff, come on now. That was after the posts complaining about what I should have done & such & such. This was a non-confrontational thread looking solely for votes but suddenly turned into a season ticket holder's diatribe on why walk-ups suck. Well far be it for me to throw some fire in the other direction. That came after a post which said pay more for the LD which you replied it wasn't about money, and a post asking where you would sit considering the lower bowl is sold out. It was unprovoked, uncalled for, and totally immature. There were no posts remotely saying walk ups suck. Re read it from the beginning.
  8. As lackluster as White Sox attendance has been, they have the highest average per home date in the AL Central.
  9. First of all every taxpayer in Illinois did NOT pay for that park. That park was paid for when a hotel tax was added. I believe the hotel tax is only charged in Chicago, I could be mistaken. So if you haven't stayed in a hotel and payed for it, none of your money has gone towards the park. The family of 6 if they don't want to spend the extra $8 per person per game to sit in the lower deck, or the extra $4 per person on half priced night can get $1 kids tickets when they go on Sunday. Or good upper deck seats are usually available, especially in advance. If the lower bowl is sold out, this family of six would have a hard time finding a place to sit anyway, and if you have young children your not going to want them standing for hours at a time. You can see the whole park, if you pay for it. I just don't understand the argument of how you should be able to buy the cheapest ticket and sit wherever you want. Its not fair to the people who paid their way. The concession lines become longer, the bathroom lines longer. If you go to the bathroom, you'll miss an inning or 2 and come back and someone will be sitting in your seat.
  10. Weren't you the one who said last week that if Buerhle and Colon took care of business the division was the Sox'?
  11. No, you're the one I was thinking of. I must have got it wrong, you don't sit with the players wives, you just brag about knowing some of them and the players. If I'm not mistaken, you posted here that at the All Star game you were able to help a friend with upper deck tickets get into the lower section. Don't be a hypocrite. What irks me is the attitude that you and some of the other season ticket holders have displayed here in this post. You act like the people who sit in the upper deck aren't as good a fan because they don't pay as much for their tickets. Economics. Some people can afford it, while others can't. 300 bucks is 300 bucks, and while you may have set that money aside, Joe Soxfan might be working a double at the mill so he can make ends meet and only buys upper deck tickets when he can because its all he can afford. Comments like "Get off your high horse and become a season ticket holder.. whiner" implys a very pompous attitude. Without these "whiners" as you like to refer to them, attendance would be worse than it already is. The season ticket holder base is only 7,000-10,000 (I don't know an exact number). Economics, right. Well if all you can afford is upper deck tickets, then sit in the upper deck. Don't b**** and moan that you should be entitled to sit in seats you have decided not to buy. And why not use some cunning and guile and sneak your way into the lower deck. Its not exactly a firing squad guarding the gate.By the way, the upper deck is not nearly as bad as it is made out to be, especially the first few rows in the infield. There are a lot of people who prefer to sit up there. Sorry Dick, if you are going to quote me, try to follow along. My arguement was with some of the pompous attitudes being displayed here throughout the thread by a few of the season ticket holders. There have been no pompous attitudes on display here, except for the guy who started the thread, believing that he should be entitled access to anywhere he wants while buying a ticket for the upper deck. Sit where you bought a ticket to sit, or think of a way to bypass the system, its really not that hard. here's a few comments... "Get off your high horse and become a season ticket holder.. whiner." "We are the ones who put up money to go to games. We are the ones they base their payroll on, not someone who is too cheap to buy a ticket in the lower deck." Did you see what those comments were in response to ? The second one was mine and it was in response to the comment that the Sox would never have a $70 million payroll because of season ticketholders. I do think the Sox payroll budget is largely based on their season ticket base, not based on whether a guy is too cheap to pay $5 to access a couple more areas he wants be in. He also said that being a season ticketholder for a team that has gone as long as the Sox without winning a World Series is for losers. If everyone had his attitude about purchasing tickets, this team would resemble the Detroit Tigers.

  14. It would be nice if the Sox could develop a catcher who could hit. Olivo may be able to hit someday.
  15. Take these A ball ratings with a grain of salt. Carlos Lee was once voted best defensive 3rd baseman by A ball managers.
  16. I wish I was rich. There are a lot of dopes like me on the Club Level. They aren't $40 for season tickets, they are $27. Considering what other teams charge, its a pretty good deal. I know. We almost moved up there but I like sitting in RF by the patio. Easy access to the bathrooms and ramps down. And of course Kelly serves us from the bar - which is a huge bonus If there's one thing that bothers me, its going down the ramps after the game. I usually walk up them to our seats, but going down bugs me. I wish they reversed the escalators, but some drunk would probably tumble, take about 50 people with him, and lawyers would get rich. I also wish they had stairs, like the one entrance in CF that was closed off after the first year in the old park.

  18. Ahhh.. fairweather. Now I see what drives your logic. Demanding performance from your team is what separates us from sCrUB fans. I do support them by watching them on TV or listening to them on the radio when they are performing below mediocrity. They are in first place, have a big 4 game series with a team they are tied with, and you are too cheap to come up with $5 extra. Obviously your statement is BS. You are just one of those guys who will find something wrong with everything. When they fix the upperdeck, you'll then complain about the blue seats. When they make the blue seats green, you complain about the neighborhood. When the neighborhood gets fixed up, you'll complain about the cost of parking. It will go on and on and on..............................................................
