  1. First of all every taxpayer in Illinois did NOT pay for that park. That park was paid for when a hotel tax was added. I believe the hotel tax is only charged in Chicago, I could be mistaken. So if you haven't stayed in a hotel and payed for it, none of your money has gone towards the park. The family of 6 if they don't want to spend the extra $8 per person per game to sit in the lower deck, or the extra $4 per person on half priced night can get $1 kids tickets when they go on Sunday. Or good upper deck seats are usually available, especially in advance. If the lower bowl is sold out, this family of six would have a hard time finding a place to sit anyway, and if you have young children your not going to want them standing for hours at a time. You can see the whole park, if you pay for it. I just don't understand the argument of how you should be able to buy the cheapest ticket and sit wherever you want. Its not fair to the people who paid their way. The concession lines become longer, the bathroom lines longer. If you go to the bathroom, you'll miss an inning or 2 and come back and someone will be sitting in your seat.
  2. Weren't you the one who said last week that if Buerhle and Colon took care of business the division was the Sox'?
  3. No, you're the one I was thinking of. I must have got it wrong, you don't sit with the players wives, you just brag about knowing some of them and the players. If I'm not mistaken, you posted here that at the All Star game you were able to help a friend with upper deck tickets get into the lower section. Don't be a hypocrite. What irks me is the attitude that you and some of the other season ticket holders have displayed here in this post. You act like the people who sit in the upper deck aren't as good a fan because they don't pay as much for their tickets. Economics. Some people can afford it, while others can't. 300 bucks is 300 bucks, and while you may have set that money aside, Joe Soxfan might be working a double at the mill so he can make ends meet and only buys upper deck tickets when he can because its all he can afford. Comments like "Get off your high horse and become a season ticket holder.. whiner" implys a very pompous attitude. Without these "whiners" as you like to refer to them, attendance would be worse than it already is. The season ticket holder base is only 7,000-10,000 (I don't know an exact number). Economics, right. Well if all you can afford is upper deck tickets, then sit in the upper deck. Don't b**** and moan that you should be entitled to sit in seats you have decided not to buy. And why not use some cunning and guile and sneak your way into the lower deck. Its not exactly a firing squad guarding the gate.By the way, the upper deck is not nearly as bad as it is made out to be, especially the first few rows in the infield. There are a lot of people who prefer to sit up there. Sorry Dick, if you are going to quote me, try to follow along. My arguement was with some of the pompous attitudes being displayed here throughout the thread by a few of the season ticket holders. There have been no pompous attitudes on display here, except for the guy who started the thread, believing that he should be entitled access to anywhere he wants while buying a ticket for the upper deck. Sit where you bought a ticket to sit, or think of a way to bypass the system, its really not that hard. here's a few comments... "Get off your high horse and become a season ticket holder.. whiner." "We are the ones who put up money to go to games. We are the ones they base their payroll on, not someone who is too cheap to buy a ticket in the lower deck." Did you see what those comments were in response to ? The second one was mine and it was in response to the comment that the Sox would never have a $70 million payroll because of season ticketholders. I do think the Sox payroll budget is largely based on their season ticket base, not based on whether a guy is too cheap to pay $5 to access a couple more areas he wants be in. He also said that being a season ticketholder for a team that has gone as long as the Sox without winning a World Series is for losers. If everyone had his attitude about purchasing tickets, this team would resemble the Detroit Tigers.

  6. It would be nice if the Sox could develop a catcher who could hit. Olivo may be able to hit someday.
  7. Take these A ball ratings with a grain of salt. Carlos Lee was once voted best defensive 3rd baseman by A ball managers.
  8. I wish I was rich. There are a lot of dopes like me on the Club Level. They aren't $40 for season tickets, they are $27. Considering what other teams charge, its a pretty good deal. I know. We almost moved up there but I like sitting in RF by the patio. Easy access to the bathrooms and ramps down. And of course Kelly serves us from the bar - which is a huge bonus If there's one thing that bothers me, its going down the ramps after the game. I usually walk up them to our seats, but going down bugs me. I wish they reversed the escalators, but some drunk would probably tumble, take about 50 people with him, and lawyers would get rich. I also wish they had stairs, like the one entrance in CF that was closed off after the first year in the old park.

  10. Ahhh.. fairweather. Now I see what drives your logic. Demanding performance from your team is what separates us from sCrUB fans. I do support them by watching them on TV or listening to them on the radio when they are performing below mediocrity. They are in first place, have a big 4 game series with a team they are tied with, and you are too cheap to come up with $5 extra. Obviously your statement is BS. You are just one of those guys who will find something wrong with everything. When they fix the upperdeck, you'll then complain about the blue seats. When they make the blue seats green, you complain about the neighborhood. When the neighborhood gets fixed up, you'll complain about the cost of parking. It will go on and on and on..............................................................
  11. Your absolutely right. If the Sox don't win the World Series in the next 10 years, it will be because of guys like me who have my full season tickets paid for in January. Not because some cheap ass like you can' t come up with an extra couple bucks to sit in the lower deck and decides to stay home. I'm sure there were pretty good lower deck seats to tonights game back in April. And if you ever went to a game, you could go to the advance game window and save yourself the ticketmaster fees. :fyou. I go to about 12 gms a year. And I usually pay the ticket-master fees. Unlike you I have a principle: the team must have a .500 record for me to go see them. My friends adhere to this rule as well. Of course the first month & opening day is an exception. When they consistently make the playoffs year after year, like the A's, the M's, & NYY's then we'll consider bending our rules & go for season tickets or at least ticket pkgs. Enjoy your less packed concourse & your view of all the empty seats in the UD as you cheer on a team that struggles past mediocrity year after year on your principles. I don't sit in the lower level anyway. So I don't get those amenities. I'm in the Club level. If you had season tickets to the upper deck, you would have access to the lower bowl. And you have it backwards. I'm with them through thick and thin, not a fairweather fan like yourself. Guys like you are what ultimately could keep this team mediocre. By the way, if this team becomes a perrenial contender and all the tickets are bought up while you are so slow to react, what will your complaint be then?

  13. Dude, you need to VOTE! Don't just comment. How the F any SOX fan could vote NO to this question escapes me. Perhaps I should have restricted this poll to SOX FANS planning to go the games. It looks as though we have trolls voting. :fyou trolls! Juggernaut, I DID vote....I voted No. The question was whether or not the policy would prevent me from attending games. Since I don't prefer to sit in the UD, it really doesn't. I am not going to stay home because the Upper Deck people can't walk the concourse! That said, I can sympathize and understand your frustration. It just doesn't affect me since I don't sit up there. Then vote MAYBE! How am I going to get the policy changed if the NO votes > YES votes. And to you season ticket holders ... a BIG WIDE :fyou. When the team is s***ty in years to come because we still can't support a 70MIL payroll because of ASS- like you I'll be sure to throw your pompous exclusive vote up your ass! DON'T YOU TELL ME HOW TO VOTE!!!! Who do you think you are, a Chicago precinct captain???? It doesn't affect me at all, so it's not even a MAYBE in my mind. I understand the point of your poll, but you're strongarming the wrong people here!! ....just for that I'm gonna vote NO AGAIN, TOUGH GUY!!!!! You people are hopeless. Try thinking of someone other than yourselves once in a while. There are plenty of ways to get discounted tickets. You could have had one of the booklets with 2 free lower deck tickets and 15 buy 1 get 1 free coupons. You could get a Sox 7 where you pay full price for 6 games and get the next one for $1. You could go on half priced night, I believe lower deck reserved are $12 tonight. You way out of line giving season tickeholders s***. We are the ones who put up money to go to games. We are the ones they base their payroll on, not someone who is too cheap to buy a ticket in the lower deck.
  14. Well then, if you want to sit in a seat in the lower bowl, buy one. If for some reason you don't want to buy one, sit in the upper deck. There were plenty of available lower deck seats for tonights game before today, so you have to act earlier. When you go on a plane and pay for coach, and there are a few empty seats in first class, do you question why you can't sit there? I like the policy.
  15. Pony up $8 more and you can have all the amenities.
  16. C'mon, nothing Bart does is Half-Assed, even you will agree with that.
  17. Paulie's been hot, got his ave. up over .250. Still below average performance this season. I'm glad I'm not paying him $6 million a year. Hopefully he will stay hot the rest of the season.
  18. I totally agree with you. KC only has 1 off day and there pitching is toast.
  19. KC is done, you heard it here first. They stayed around a lot longer than I thought, but that pitching staff is cashed.
  20. Rowand still could have played CF. Harris' spot would have been filled by the pitcher. There were plenty of replacements left to hit for the pitcher for 5 or 6 more innings. The game probably wouldn't last that long. Having Harris and his .185 average bat was inexcusable. JM needs to go.
  21. Yea, I saw him on a corner in Bucktown buying dime bags when the Angels were in town.
  22. They did mention people with military IDs would be comped earlier in the season for every game except the Cubs series. A few other teams have the same policy, although not as extensive as the White Sox.
  23. If someone finds this depressing, I don't think watching the Bears would be a good alternative.
  24. Daubach was used. They could have pinch hit Rios, Miles, Burke,
