Amazon employs over 1.5 million world wide and 43k in Illinois. There are more than 100 companies in Chicago alone bigger than the White Sox. What permanent jobs will be created by building the White Sox a stadium? Seems most will be transferring over from Bridgeport. What’s rich is JR now says he needs bars and restaurants. There have been blueprints to build him that in the parking lots of GRF for about 20 years. He refused until he did allow one bar and one team store.
-
Clearly the reason the Sox usually suck is GRF.

If you lived in Austin or Nashville or Portland or Salt Lake Ciry and had a choice of expansion team or Jerry Reinsdorf, you would pick expansion team. Las Vegas is realizing that right now.
-
And there it is. If he actually took the White Sox out of the area as a 90+ year old, he might be known as the biggest asshole ever.

Sox set ambitious goal for Yoan, Eloy: actually play baseball

maybe he'll go down to Springfield to see if he can get the politicians to pay it. -
I'm not bitching about the stadium, I think it's nice, and hope it's built. Just not on the taxpayer dime.
-
I think it crosses the line to greed. Everyone has a friend or family member that tries to negotiate everything. At some point it gets so annoying, you say just pay your share.
-
That’s pretty good in more than 1 way.

I don’t agree with Bernstein much but he’s spot on here. If it’s such a great deal, do it yourself. JR and Related have plenty of money. He can be the catalyst that created this great new ballpark, with a great new neighborhood with 22000 new jobs….what a way to go out, and his heirs still can cash in.

Pretty amazing how that works. If they shine, there is another contract year next season. -
Probably but Dejong got released twice last season and finished the year 12-93 with no walks and 34 strikeouts.

Guaranteed Money Pit Field.

and I get that, but somehow, as nice as it looks, its the White Sox and I don't think it will be a destination place nationally. Really, the only destination MLB parks are Wrigley and Fenway. I'd love for JR to build it. It's also predicated on its being built will spur the other development where companies would actually have to pay. Do you really think this park will get the others built? And if so, what kind of timeline? There are so many stalled projects.

Einhorn Field at Reinsdorf Park.
-
If you upgraded, like JR is doing , yes. JR doesn't NEED a new park.

So let me ask you, if you had 1 payment left on your mortgage, and decided you would get another 30 year mortgage as soon as you made that payment, you wouldn't consider that new? If they want to extend the hotel tax, by all means do, but redirect the funds to something else. I live in the Gold Coast. My next door neighbor got mugged walking her dog Saturday night at 9 pm. I'd like more cops.

So far the Bears have said they will ask for no public funds to build the stadium, but the other stuff, yes.

Yeah, it was on a tee, and i missed. -
PR hasn’t exactly been a White Sox organization strength.
-
It shows how detached from reality this organization is. Using BPs determination they have a 0,0 % shot at the playoffs as bulletin board material? Has he looked at the roster? Saying these guys are playing for their careers, aren’t mediocre at best players always doing that? Or are these guys so super talented and we’re only available for peanuts because they sucked because they didn’t try? None of the spin makes any sense at all.
-
They aren’t going anywhere. And one thing about the renderings. As detailed as it is, you really can’t make out any suites. Was that on purpose.
-
So you think the owners want to trade a non revenue sharing team for one that benefits? Plus there’s the anti trust exemption to worry about.
-
I don’t think there is really much of a chance of JR moving the White Sox out of town. The American League wouldn’t want to abandon Chicago. There would be a honeymoon wherever he went, but it would be short lived, and when the see mediocrity at best, the new place will show you why MLB wasn’t there sooner. And they really don’t have the argument that teams that have left had. They really don’t have a stadium issue. They want an upgrade, and it looks fantastic, but they don’t want to pay for it.

It’s like laughingstock stuff.
