  1. Looks like the potential Opening Day line up vs. the lefty. Sox should be a runaway train by then.
  2. As soon as the Sox actually develop a player that is pretty damn good, then we can look at a timeline where they may be a good team. Montgomery looks to be good. I hope to God he is good, because if he fails, hope is going to be hard to come by. A guy like Ramos is the type of player the Sox haven't developed in a couple of decades. If he turns out to be a good MLB player, we may have some hope. If not, think of how bad the White Sox would still be if they didn't have Sale and Q and Eaton to trade. They aren't going to build through the draft. They aren't going to build through international signings. They aren't going to sign expensive free agents.
  3. They play a certain way and that train is leaving the station. Either you're on it or you arent.
  4. Yeah, how about building a team before talking about building another ballpark.
  5. I'm about as checked out as I have ever been. But I'll be tuning in on Opening Day,
  6. They were wooed by something else being built that will more than cover the cost of the ballpark project...same as it ever was. A very familiar pitch. The other interesting thing is the Sox don't draw very well there. I wonder If JR is going to need them to build him another complex, you know, so he can compete.
  7. Chicago and Illinois aren't alone in being taken to the cleaners by JR, Glendale got smoked. Tax revenue from anther development fell through. That sounds familiar. Any politician signing off on JR's 78 request should be done when their term ends. Glendale built its spring training facility for $152.6 million in 2009. The park stands in Phoenix, so Glendale only collects about $65,000 a year in sales tax on the site per a sharing agreement with Phoenix. The project left Glendale about $200 million in debt, which grows to $370 million over the next two decades when factoring interest. Debt payments are expected to claim nearly $2 of every $10 in the city's general fund next fiscal year. City officials originally planned to pay off debt with tax revenue from expected development and support from the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority. But the development fell through
  8. Make sure you have the right catering company on Gyro Night. My company had a Greek-themed lunch a while back. They guy making the gyros was putting one slice of meat on each pita. At least the chicken and rice were good.
  9. Just market Maldanado and DeJong hard. They, and Moustakis are playing for their careers much like guys like Rollins and Lawrie and Austin Jackson were years ago. People are sleeping. These guys are going to be great.
  10. They still have 6 years on their lease. If all these places are such hot spots and better than a non revenue sharing recipient Chicago, why aren't there teams there yet?
  11. If they had to pick between the Sox and Bears, good chance the Bears win. A dome could bring Super Bowls, Final Fours etc. That’s new money, not just local money being spent elsewhere.
  12. As a professional, i would expect him to be somewhat truthful. Obviously there are things he would have to dance around, but total BS like this? Just shows how bad he is at his job.
  13. Because he's the manager of the team. When he's blantantly lying about this stuff, can you ever expect him to be truthful? There are ways around taking about these players without sounding nuts. . Why don't they sign Buehrle to eat some innings? He was pretty good 8 or 9 years ago?
  14. Cant make money and compete there. Maybe if the White Sox effort fails, Related will recruit them. I heard the U of I thing that is supposed to break ground at the 78 wants out really bad. I wonder if Related is at the point where they rue the day they bought it.
  15. Some things are so obvious, you either insult the intelligence of the people who pay to watch your team, or if you really believe it, you shouldn't be doing what you are doing. Of course this is the team that signed an aging catcher to be an example, and he got dinged for jaking it to first base the very first spring training game.
  16. He almost makes Terry Bevington, the man who went to the mound and signaled for a reliever with no one warming up, seem competent. I would hope someone from the White sox tells him the fanbase reading this crap is not THAT dumb.
  17. The jist of it is money spent there isn't new money, it's money that would have been spent elsewhere. Economic impact is minimal at best. It really doesn't matter the project. This will have a hotel. People staying at that hotel won't be staying at one on Michigan Ave. It will have apartments. People renting there won't be renting higher end apartments elsewhere. People eating at the restaurants and drinking at the bars in the 78 won't be eating at the restaurants and drinking at the bars in other neighborhoods. It' doesn't increase spending. It just shifts it.
  18. Peter King said the Bears would win the Super Bowl when they traded for Jay Cutler. Not quite.
  19. The one thing every team does now, even the Rays and A's is let the public know how much THEY will be contributing above and beyond their handout. What's JR's number? Never provided one, so probably zero. A new owner would pay something.
