  1. i just want someone to get Getz to admit JR didn't know what he was talking about and this is indeed another re-build. I just hope they don't tout this signing. The guy was released twice last year.
  2. Brett Lawrie and Jimmy Rollins was a better combo. That didn’t work out so well. Hope they get something decent for Cease and Eloy or they are going to be horrendous until JR gets out.
  3. OK. Yet the Rangers traded for Chapman. Clevinger had been hurt. Made 1 start. His money was that of a guy making $30 million a year at that point. Does this mean Clevinger is done in the major leagues? LMAO. It's so funny what you ignore when you know you are wrong but won't admit it.
  4. He’s 7th in fWAR for starters in MLB the last 3 years. He won’t make 9 million next year. He will bring back a lot.
  5. What kind of “haul” would you expect for a guy like Bummer? Middle releiver with a 6.79 ERA owed a minimum of $6:75 million usually don’t get you a slew of top prospects.
  6. Where was it reported he got a big bump? Also, his contract lets him miss 35 games. He missed 35 White Sox games in 2023. What is the greater flexibility?
  7. Missed on this day in history 11/7–White Sox fail to extend qualifying offer to Carlos Rodon. To this day, I could never understand this.
  8. No they wouldn’t. The biggest flaw with the Sox rebuild is one everyone here noticed from the get go. The same dopes that got you to the point you needed a total rebuild after a decade , using their own words, mired in mediocrity, were the chosen ones to lead the team out of the abyss. The more trades they made, the worse they would have become. Perhaps the best player they did get in the rebuild now is Dane Dunning. I bet the Sox would take him back now.
  9. Funny how Michigans stance has quickly changed over their cheating.
  10. These trades usually don’t work out as well as one would hope. Hahn actually did much better trading Eaton, Q and Sale than most others trading their controlled stars for prospects and at the end of the day there wasn’t one player most of this board didn’t turn on at some point. The Sox most successful rebuild during JRs time was done by Larry Himes. He kept Fisk and Guillen. Turned out pretty wise.
  11. Why would you want that? Most of this board hates Moncada abd would love to see Kopech gone as well. When you have a guy like Robert, you keep him until it makes no sense not. You can't get a guy with his talent with 4 years of control at his pay rate.
  12. These pitchers are the types the Sox are going to have tobhit on once in a while. Their system has no acr type guys. They don't have the prospect currency to trade for one, and they aren't signing one for what JR will pay.
  13. To me he is by far the most interesting. Still young, had the two Achilles injuries like Burger. Was a top 25 prospect before he had a great season, then got hurt. Was pretty good in AAA last season.
  14. I don’t know what else the Sox could have received for Bummer. If someone could get him to throw a few more strikes, he might be really good again, but it was time the Sox unloaded him. Soroka is a guy who if he was non tendered I would have loved the Sox to take a shot. Not a fan of Lopez but at least he can catch the ball. Hopefully a couple of these guys work out.
  15. Yeah the JR cannot waste a year then cutting payroll is not putting his money where his mouth is. Most, if not all of these guys are going to suck, Bummer will probably be a bit better with Atlanta, but I don’t hate this trade, although Lopez will probably get too much playing time.
  16. 2 years of control. Great in 2022, not so great in 2023, but his last 4 or 5 starts he seemed like that guy again. Boras his agent, no chance to win now, it’s time to deal him. Of course it should cost a lot to get him. If others are unwilling, then keep him.
  17. It’s weird, and if JR didn’t like Jason’s style or his sense of humor, why did he extend him in the first place? To me this all goes back to Jason being honest about the negotiations last year making Brooks take look like a lie.
  18. Of course, but I think the point he was making it they didn’t make splash hires and if the team was sold they would have no issue telling them to take a hike.
  19. I took spa day to mean players taking liberties with not being 100% and asking for time off. It was not until about 10 years ago when players of any sport complained they played too much. Really weird with the advancement of nutrition and training.
  20. Jim ODonnell raises the possibility of the White Sox being sold to a group headed by Theo. The word is the group is going to buy something soon. Maybe the Nats. Maybe the Padres. He theorized the Getz hiring and keeping Pedro could have been made to keep things clean for a new group to clean house. I read that and it raised my eyebrows, but they came crashing back into place when I realized if JR was getting the team ready to sell, wouldn’t he have just kept RH and KW? JR doesn’t own a majority share of the team. If he was so scared of estate taxes, couldn’t he keep his shares, sell the majority of the team and give up his control, thus just making him an investor?
  21. That's my position as well. I don't watch games based on the broadcasters, and most here don't either, but the casual fan does. The thing that bothered me most about this was a dieheart Sox fan moved to Detroit. Not even counting the head marketing guy saying it was a better job. Monaco seems good. But if missing games is an issue, that won't change with his hire, and he is basically on the same track Jason is only, probably a few years behind.
  22. On one of the shows last summer, Ozzie said he talked to someone who would know and said Ohtani would love to play for the Cubs but Chicago is too cold, so it isngoing to happen.
  23. The problem the White Sox had with these coaches is mo one with a functioning brain could possibly think Pedro has long term security here, and once he goes, they are more than likely looking for another job. So coaches in demand go elsewhere. The Sox get the scraps. If they would hire a manager with a good rep and someone who would be around for years, their coaching staff would probably be better.
  24. The only guy that could make wearing a helmet on defense look cool.
