The problem the White Sox had with these coaches is mo one with a functioning brain could possibly think Pedro has long term security here, and once he goes, they are more than likely looking for another job. So coaches in demand go elsewhere. The Sox get the scraps. If they would hire a manager with a good rep and someone who would be around for years, their coaching staff would probably be better.

The only guy that could make wearing a helmet on defense look cool.

I’m surprised. Last year they used the excuse during the season that due to circumstances it was way too late to book a venue. Now, apparently they will be able to get one even starting to look months later.

The latest Garfien Podcast: What is a "Spa Day"?

He seemed pretty average to me. Hope he can get really hot at some point, and if he does, Getz is smart enough to trade him if someone will take him. There might be stretches, maybe even a season he is well worth what they pay him, but overall he’s a big waste of money. Getting that contract off the books would be a nice move. -
If Ohtani signs elsewhere, the Angels have to try to trade Trout.

So nothing has changed in 42 years except our hope that things would somehow be different this time.

You would have to think any team trying to win is interested. They should get a decent haul for him.

2023 College Football Thread

Jimbo Fisher fired. Texas A and M has to pay him $76 million not to coach , which is more money than JR ever gave another teams free agent . -
Bob said everyone is available except Robert, and payroll is being cut. Also said the Angels are interested in TA as a 2B.

Yeah, I wonder if Brooks realized in his spin, that’s exactly what he said.
-
Well he owns the team and he doesn’t know what to do.

Who do you want or think will replace Benetti?

He would be a good choice but will have the same issues as Jason with missing games, and building his identity. -

We will communicate” “We will be fundamentally sound” “We will play with passion and pride for this uniform. This means something.” “We will respect the game, our fans, and earn their trust” “We will control the strike zone on both sides of the ball…” “We will work hard and play winning baseball every night and definitely will hold each other accountable.”

It's really incredible. He contradicted things he said over 100 times the 6 months prior.
-
They didn't say no. They put it in the contract he can miss 35 games. How many will Monaco miss? He just signed an extension with ESPN. How many did Stone miss? There is something more to this, and I'm sure it comes back to JR. He's probably pissed Jason contradicted his boy Brooks last year when Brooks said negotiations were all peachy. That said, Monaco is pretty good and really young. I doubt he will want to do 162 White Sox games for a while.

One of Jon Greenbergs best lines ever For all the things the Sox do wrong — player development, pro scouting, the farm system, stadium operations, stadium security, ownership, management, ticket sales.”

First off, we have no idea if he left for more money. Since he was under contract, he couldn't just leave. He is working at least 127 games which is 35 off, same as what he was doing. Whether you like him or not, he was a White Sox fan long before he became a broadcaster, and he left, after being encouraged to listen to a rival by the team that he loved and worked for. Lip had a piece around a year ago where he talked to people and they came up with many issues. When I read it, my first thought was cmon man. Not that I thought Lip made any of it up, but I figured his sources were making things look way crazier than they could be. As time has gone on abd stories leaked, its been spot on.One issue was the broadcasters and how there was a lot of discontent there. Then Hawk goes on AJs podcast and let's Brooks Boyer have it. I've had a couple on encounters with Brooks, and he was great to me, but Hawk has an issue. Jason apparently does too as Jon Greenberg of the Athletic said their relationship was not the best. But I think where most are missing the point is this guy loved the White Sox, like most everyone on this site. He was under contract. Yet for some reason, and it may be money, but I just doubt it., I think itwas something else. He goes to Detroit? The percentage of people on this site, who if they were the television voice of the White Sox would just someday say, the one thing better than this would be calling Tiger games is miniscule. He isn't Harry. He isn't Haawk. But he's good, and he's one of us. Love him or hate him his replacement is almost certainly a downgrade. Maybe they figure so few will be watching it doesn't matter. I just hope someday soon they hire a guy who will be synonymous with the White Sox for a couple of decades.
-
That's what I don't get. They lost a guy who if he wasn't an announcer, was such a huge fan of the White Sox, he might have been a Soxtalk poster. He has what he as said was his dream job and he up and leaves to Detroit of all places. It's just a sign of how messed up the organization is. And if anyone thinks the position will be upgraded, they haven't paid attention for a few years.
-
Funny thing is, people complained about that as well. There never will be someone in the booth everyone likes. Some will have really big issues with who ever calls a game.
-
He's forbidden by the team to tell the truth about what is going on in the field, so what the f*** is he supposed to do in the booth?
-
Back in the day they had phone books, Harry's number was listed when he moved into Water Tower Place.
-
I know youre joking, but I bet he was.
-
That's nice. I too had an encounter with Farmio, and he was really a sweet guy.
-
That's why I think there is more to this story. No one seems to be noticing the White Sox encouraging him to pursue the job. It might be that Brooks has been butt hurt ever since Jason disagreed with Brooks' description of their negotiations.
