  1. Normally Bernstein bugs me, but I agree with him here. If you refuse to play to HIS strengths and insist he fits into your offense, you aren't good at your job.
  2. Brian Ferentz fired by Iowa effective after the bowl game. Beggars can't be choosers, would love to see him gone before then, but at least this nightmare has an end date.
  3. MLBN must be getting ESPN disease and have wiped the White Sox existence out of their memory. I just heard Greg Amsinget say last night's walk off home run was the 1st World Series walk off home run since Kirk Gibson. Sorry Scotty Pods.
  4. She did build the Marlins into a playoff team. But there is no way JR is going to hire her to “oversee’ Getz. First, he’s already built Getz up as the genius in the room. Second, anyone from somewhere else would delay a turnaround, at least in JRs mind. Hiring her would contradict everything he said on this subject.
  5. I bet the Braves in the late 80s wish they didn’t overthink it and drafter Frank Thomas instead of Tyler Houston. Frank has said the Braves were going to take him. As far as Vaughn is concerned, they did mess with him. They probably rushed him. Other scouts thought he was the second coming of Goldschmidt. Another said he was Konerko on steroids. Non White Sox guys. The thing that has really disappointed me is when he was drafted he had a reputation of having a great idea of the strike zone, and was willing to take walks. That seems to have been a miscalculation or just went by the wayside for some reason. Maybe he gets that back. But we are getting to the point where he is about to be what he is, and while not awful, not why you lose 99 games to acquire.
  6. Madrigal obviously didn't work out, and eventually turned worse than having him. However, if you look at the 2018 draft, those drafted around him haven't exactly lit it up. You can say some guys picked way lower are doing well, but those guys weren't a consideration for the #3 pick by any team. Where the Sox really suck, is they find no diamonds in the rough. They get a high first rounder, he may contribute. They may get a reliever or two to contribute later in the draft, but historically, their first round pick is about it.
  7. Have some patience. Korey Lee was in that draft.
  8. I just hope he's half as good as the Sox are trying to promote him.
  9. Apparently no Royals or ex Royals pitching coaches were available. I’m not impressed, but it is a bullpen coach. He probably has to do what he’s told rather than using his own theories which apparently don’t work.
  10. With the Padres and Astros jobs opening up, do you think either team will request permission to speak to Pedro about taking over their team.
  11. the 113 OPS+, which is right in line with his career number. Plus, this guy isn't the typical 27 year old. He missed 3 full seasons. A 3.0 career WAR in about a year's worth of playing screams MLB player to me.
  12. Many years ago, I worked with a guy that had some business with Michael Reinsdorf. At least back then, he was talking about running the Sox a bit differently than his father. It's been years since I've been privy to any info, but I still think he wants a shot, but wouldn't be surprised if he uses his father's blueprint,
  13. I get your point, but this is a guy who has always had issues with his command. Came back from injury, worse command, which is understandable, but from what most have been saying, diminished stuff. It's fine to trade for a guy like this, but to give up a guy who was really popular in the clubhouse, and with fans, and could hit 40 homers?
  14. 71 IP in 2021 0 IP in 2022 56 IP in 2023 And the spin is he's close to being a starter on the MLB club? LMAO. I wish I was capable of just walking away from all of this until they decide to be major league. But I can't.
  15. The Bulls have been Reinsdorfed. Remember several years ago when broke JR almost bought the AZ team in the NHL? As bad as it’s been with them, they dodged a bullet there.
  16. JRs sons are trying to buy up shares of the team. JR wrote a letter to his investors telling them if they are interested in selling, maybe, possibly, sell to them.
  17. Funny, I was eating at a restaurant last week and there were 2 guys sitting next to me. One was a trainer of some sort with the Cubs and he was talking about this job. For those who think I’m some freak who listens to other’s conversations, it was one of those communal tables and you couldn’t help but hear when we had our faces stuffed with food and weren’t talking.
  18. It's magnified by the fact there is another team in town that goes all out for theirs. And it's covered by everyone, who then also mentions the Sox, just like during the regular season, have nothing for their fans.
  19. I always enjoyed Soxfest and I never got 1 autograph. I went to the seminars, and while there was a ton of fluff, it's just was you needed after almost 4 months of no baseball.
  20. And the other 2 were so great at it they were fired. Getz will have to work his first deadline someime. If a change was warranted, and obviously it was, you can't let those dopes do more damage. JR fired them. You almost have to try to be incompetent enough for that to happen.
  21. I feel so bad for them. I hate spending money watching a team with no clue. That hasn't stopped them from continuing to do it.
  22. Especially because he was going to stay in house, it's really beyond ridiculous JR gave Rick and Kenny the deadline. It should have been Getz making the calls. Just more idiocy.
  23. And seems like he'd be a back up you could actually believe can not lose you a game. What is the deal with Foreman? Every time here plays he looks good. Is he a bad actor or something? How was he a healthy inactive so often?
  24. JR was just stating the obvious. Besides, Ohtani would never consider the White Sox anyway. He’s already ruled out the Cubs because it’s too cold.
