  1. Yeah, that’s why Dave Wilder failed. JR sucks no doubt, but Dave Wilder committed felonies and ripped him off. Anything he says is a joke.
  2. 0.2 combined fWAR his 2 years in Philadelphia for $40 million doesn’t scream the Sox missed one.
  3. The last 2 months of the season, Whit barely hit .200 with a .250 OBP. Other than he looks good in Royal blue, there is no reason to sign him. 34 years old., when has he helped a team win.?

    Getz

1 over .500 season when fans could attend games. A horrible GM.

    Getz

He also played a big role in the Pedro Grifol hire, and his refusal to fire him despite what’s plain to see, is an indication he will allow his mistakes, something all GMs make, to linger and hurt the team moving forward.

    Getz

It was pretty much known to everyone with any inside info that if Rick or KW were to somehow be bad enough to be let go, Getz was the replacement. If they weren’t let go, I don’t think there is another team that would have seriously considered him for their GM job. Now all that doesn’t mean he will be bad, and he is all we have, so we have to hope he is better than what the consensus thinks. We were told the main reason he got the job was time. JR didn’t want to waste any bringing in someone else, Flimsy at best. Gets has already said on numerous occasions, he had to do a “deep dive”. And has seemingly walked back thoughts this team could actually contend next year, realizing the fan base isn’t THAT dumb. I am not optimistic, but hope this guy surprises me. I just think JR will still have too much influence, and it will be more of the same.
  7. Maybe their scandal has something to do with it, but the Astros have made the ALCS 7 years in a row. That’s amazing.
  8. One of those on line injury doctors thinks this is at least a 4 to 6 week injury to Fields.
  9. If they pick up his option, it would be more proof JR crying poor all their years was BS. No one loves all that Liam brings to the table more than me, but give him the buyout and do something that makes sense for a couple of years.
  10. This is exactly right. 8 years in a row the Royals haven't been above .500. And that's with this guy in his prime years. Merrifeild in his prime years and Benintendi as well. If this stuff is true, MLB needs to step in.
  11. Nascar rips off the city. The Sox rip off the state.
  12. I think re-setting the clock on a rookie contract is very valuable, and if Fields plays well enough to even consider not drafting Williams if in a position to do so, he will bring a ton back in a trade. You might have some growing pains with Williams but the Bears could get dominant very quickly.
  13. I was at the Washington game last year, and he did make one beautiful throw for a TD. A few others were so far off, my buddy and I were talking abou how t at least he probably will make a pretty good receiver on our way home. I know the defenses the last couple of weeks are far from stellar, but hopefully he's turned a corner. If they do get the #1 pick , hopefully it's Carolina's, they have to take Williams. Hopefully Fields plays well enough they can really cash in on a trade. They really could be stacked in a year or two.
  14. There was a story in the middle of the season that suggested JR wasn't a big fan of Pedro. That could have changed, and we all know Pedro is a world class brown nose. Some people eat that up.
  15. I get that too, and I thought the same thing. But just admit, 2024 is a transition year, hire a manager that gives you hope, and a coaching staff that can get things done. They have to get rid of the stench. JR talked about not wasting a year. Bringing Pedro back wastes a year.
  16. I just think you have to get rid of him. Cost wise, it's next to nothing. Reading Bob's last column, it would be an upset if Pedro made $1 million a year. His cost is a minimum contract player. Show everyone you really want to be better. Show them that 2024 is the start of something new. Having that clown around won't convince anyone.
  17. I see the point, but if you want players to play with total accountability , you should probably hold their manager accountable. Plus, if you are at least looking for some step forward next season, this guy has already proved he's not the guy to lead you that way. I also think they would be able to bring in better coaches firing him. Everyone knows he's a lameduck. What kind of coaches are going to be attracted to a most likely one and down job?
  18. Yes, they would inherit his total control.
  19. With as many times Pedro and even Getz have mentioned how TA should be back to normal production next season, they have painted themselves into a cornet. A contract dump for a lottery ticket or declining shows they were lying.
  20. I was thinking pick up the option and try to trade him or hope for a bounce back and trade him next deadline, but is that worth the $9 or 10 million gamble? I’d say see if anyone will give you anything for him before the option is exercised, if no, just let him go. If he’s good next year he will be gone anyway, and you don’t want to lock in long term to a guy who is injured every year, can’t run balls out, is over 30, and has off the field drama anyway. I used to love this guy. He has disappointed me in almost every way.
  21. Don't do this to Caulfield. He'll get so excited he might have a grabber.
  22. There are people who think Prime Time's son is a better pro QB prospects than Williams. Prime and his son package deal to the Bears?
