Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Harry Chappas replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the White Sox budget is $190M and until Kimbrel is moved they are stuck where they are at. To me it's that simple. -
I think Brother Rice faced Ferris tonight Rice won in extras
-
You give him the $200K because your offseason has been a disaster and this is just the icing on the cake of stupidity. I won't even get into the baseball results and the bargain basement price

3/22 Spring training game vs MIL

This will get him the Cy Young and out price him. -
That may be why Hahn was talking about Vaughn going to AAA to start the year, to give Micker a look.

Sadly Garcia is a part of any every day lineup at this point especially being a switch hitter. -
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Harry Chappas replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He is going to play 140 games and get 500 at bats if healthy. Today's lineup leads is going to piss me off all year as Sheets/Vaugh are the "second" clean up men who can drive in the low OBP guys ahead of them who are never on base so when both have 18 RBI at the all-star break they will appear to be failing and the Sox will need to trade for a big DH bat but instead will add a RP. -
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud

This whole thing could have been said 12 months ago and it went well and the post season was a failure, same as 2020. As they saw last year injuries happen that leave holes and they did nothing to address this. People understand that there is talent but have all seen that this talent is not enough and the organization ahs no depth. -

Leury's little adventure in Houston made me throw up in my mouth thinking about him out there. -
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud

Run your platoon scenarios with a injury then do it with two or three. Is it unrealistic that they will need to get at least 150 at bats out of my egg basket? -
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Harry Chappas replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not necessarily frustrated with the moves that have been made it is the fact that there are easy holes to fill and they are refusing to fill them. There is no DH platoon. Sheets is the DH and Vaughn is the RF. I fear they are putting a lot of eggs in the Rutherford, Mercedes, Colas and Cespedas basket. At this point Mercedes is the RH platoon in the DH role. Grandal getting time at DH puts Collins/Zavala in the lineup. Neither can catch or hit. Any injury to any player on this roster is a killer. -

The issue with me is the catchers cant catch his best pitch. Similar to Hendricks. That was not addressed either this offseason. -

Why even engage it's a waste of energy. -
I hate Garcia in RF. He's going to get 500 ABs this year.

All anyone had to do was watch the playoffs last year and see what was needed. You platoon Sheets not Conforto. -

Is Sheets for Meadows a deal worth pondering? -

Engel is going to be the full time RF and Sheets/Vaughn a DH platoon. One injury to any player other than the tragically bad 2B combo and the White Sox are screwed. -
Offseason Part 2 - Lets the Rumors & Action Begin
Harry Chappas replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt but the more time that passes the realization is setting in that this is the team and all of the offseason decisions were bad. The organizational blind spot for giving bullpen guys a lot of money is a real thing and probably a result of the failed 2007 season. -
Burger is the top option to go to Oakland now. All competitors are giving up minor league talent for major league talent while the White Sox will have to give up major league talent to improve

How are adults agreeing to contracts for 12 and13 years a good thing in today's day and age? I'm still amazed that there are no issues with this.
-
The grime around them can still be paid off to get them to sign with a team on the open market currently.

Tatis father was an MLB player and probably shielded away from the underbelly of this practice. Tatis didn't even get a large bonus and was not even a highly regarded prospect. The international draft, salary floor and cap work in other sports yet in baseball it cannot??????? Agents and closed books are what is killing this sport.
-
I think the increased television revenue offsets this for them but the whole thing gives me a headache if I think about it too long as it will negatively impact or be neutral to the White Sox.
-
The owners want more games. The owners wouldn't care if it were a two team best of 51 world series as long as they got the tv revenue. The single game thing works if its Boston/New York if it is Miami/Pittsburgh nobody cares. All playoffs are a gamble in this regard.

The CBT is kind of odd to me in that those that benefit are not those that we are looking at to benefit. If the CBT increases I feel the top 10 percent of salaries will increase but without a floor there is no need for the middle income vets to be signed. I hope it ends today but does it change anything? Additional resources will continue to go to the small fish, the big fish pay the stars and the White Sox will still be looking for the other 50 cent..and not the one hanging upside down. Everyone seems ok with the status quo....well maybe a draft lottery but why no international draft? Am I missing something?
