Can this team just flip the switch come Oct 7?
Harry Chappas replied to brijames1957's topic in Pale Hose Talk
All in the house next door to the House that Ruth built. Which makes it even more amazing. Talk about playing a team at the wrong time when we played the Yankees. The White Sox can get swept in the first round and not score a run and it will have nothing to do with how they are playing on September 10th. -
That is possibly the case but the conversation I was referring to was for the current landscape.

There does appear to be very few late inning comebacks this season -

That is all we can do to keep our sanity. The injuries magnify this 10 fold also. Moncada and Eloy are not out because of rest so there is no real other options at this point. -

I agree with you but I have faith that LaRussa still knows. -
Did Jon Heyman really compare Derek Jeter and Justin Turner?

16 teams do not make the playoffs in baseball. 10 do and 4 of them are at a distinct disadvantage.

Who is not in this game that should be that gives you the impression that we are punting this? -

But they have lost zero ground. It all comes down down to after the 60 game season last year they are prioritizing health first and foremost with an 11 game lead. I hate the shit that we have to watch but I am not certain it can be faulted. If Moncada can't hit right handed currently than what other options were there for today? -

Danny Mendick has become incredibly useless. It is a shame he has never progressed. That was an awful at bat. He Collins both have not progressed one bit after being given a opportunity at eh MLB level and actually regressed. -
He needs help? Child please. Start a thread tomorrow about how Tim Anderson is most likely done for the year and the White Sox are just not telling the fans the truth and that after the swelling went down you heard that Eloy is out 6-8 months. Finish the thread by telling us how James McCann is a much better option than Grandal and that Fernando Tatis should not have been traded. Then on Saturday tell us all how there will be a lockout and no baseball season in 2022. Then on Sunday give us some updated stats on COVID and tell us how the USMNT will not qualify for the World Cup. On Monday you can expound on the Bears and point out how great Chris Sale is.

TLR expecting pitching/Eloy back this weekend
Harry Chappas replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Seems like 3 off days in 8 days were used for a purpose......other than Anderson I think it was all time management...Anderson is becoming a concern. Rodon is not structural so I am hoping it is work load management. -

Other than Moncada, who is missing from the lineup that you would like to see? The pissing and moaning on this site is amazing. Are people now pining for Leury Garcia and Gavin Sheets? Anderson and Jimenez are injured so they are out what are people expecting? They are 10 up in the loss column. -
I love the new narrative after beating Colorado and Pittsburgh that they are a few big free agent signings away from being the top team in the NL Central.

Can this team just flip the switch come Oct 7?
Harry Chappas replied to brijames1957's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Baseball is very different than any sport. There is not a flip of the switch mentality that I worry about. It is the total randomness of baseball I worry about. Pitching is max effort, every other aspect is single opportunity. Every other sport is 100% effort all of the time. -
After the 60 game season last year this is the obvious road to choose. Will it work out, we shall see but to think this is not an ideal plan is foolish. I could be getting hoodwinked here but the IL stints seem to be neatly organized with the numerous off days and Cleveland continuing to scuffle and gaining zero ground.

I think this is a case of the games catching up with him as well as the fatigue of learning a couple of new positions. I think they need to sit him and make a call on the playoffs. If the team is healthy I am not certain there is a spot for him in October but I think they need to look at rewarding him with a spot at the same time as he is a long term option and really has given everything for this team this year.

DK almost pitched well.

How about laying off the low splitter FFS

Need to evaluate his role moving forward.
