Sox looking at building in South Loop

What is the public funding for that? -
I used to be excited for this type of stuff. I bought two tickets to opening day on Wednesday. Found out a couple other folks wanted in. The seats next to us were still open. Going to be a sad home opener. They were pretty cheap considering it was opening day and they were lower deck. Incredibly sad state of affairs. Even when they were god awful the opener was a tough ticket to get.

The owner of the Phoenix Suns Matt Ishbia sounds like a good candidate as next owner. If the next owner is an asshole like JR they could move it he is a decent human being they will have success. Someone needs to show the Gavin Sheets playoff highlight and then ask, WTF are you talking about. The last three years have shown JR to be an embarrassment, this last two days even more so. He and Hahn cannot go away soon enough. Thankfully Hahn is gone. -

When did GR become a shithole? Its better then Wrigley and nobody said it was bad three months ago. Now the consensus is its uninhabitable????? Soldier Field is an embarassment. Comerica isn't much better then GR....Miller Park or whatever it is is equal except for the roof. -

The 78 is actually a pretty good plan to have an ROI as opposed to Bridgeport, the gentrification just never made it that far. -

The White Sox and ISFA could have tried this around the current joint. Sell some land to IIT to build. -

I love that so many folks think that the money that is not being spent on the White Sox would somehow magically be spent in a way that makes the state or city landscape fiscally brighter. The hotel tax if not used to pay for the stadium will be used to pay down the pension shortage or help reduce property. The f..k it will! Look at Chicago and the new tax on the ballot for real estate transactions over $1M. Those funds are going to fight homelessness. The f..k they are! Those funds will go to some organization that "fights" homelessness with 90% lining a bureaucrats pocket and 10% going to some cause that may need the money but won't be enough to make a difference. If you live in Chicago/Cook/Illinois your quality of life is factored into all of this and hopefully your salary allows for you to enjoy. Tollways, hotel tax, gambling tax, cannabis, increased payroll and property tax.....none have resulted in a more efficiently run government yet Jerry is going to push us over the edge. Illinois/Cook/Chicago will spend what JR is asking on migrant services....with Jerry I sometimes see a good baseball game and if there is a concert that keeps me from having to go to Wrigley, I'm happy. -
Dejong will be done by July with the youth stepping in. Hopefully he does well enough to trade for a low A guy that can make our top 30 in the Future Sox writeup next fall.

I think it is a lot harder to get noticed with the online application process. Things like Indeed and what not are inundated with poor connections and I think the initiative if you are truly are a good candidate is a nice touch. While you would think hiring is easier now in some cases it is harder.

Around 7:30 it was the most lucid Levine has ever been. Haugh cut down a caller from Naperville yesterday that was saying the same thing. There are more then a few hosts on that station that have a holier then thou take on non-sports related topics that turned me off to them. I listen to them when ESPN is on commercial. -

On the SCORE this morning Bruce Levine detailed this exceptionally well for David Haugh (as with Leila yesterday) who could not get past equating a $100M contract to this project....this while he bemoans the cubs not spending $100M+ on Bellinger. What is interesting and I cannot see anything legitimate as it's behind a pay wall is if Reinsdorf assumes this risk based on the franchises equity, he is more inclined to sell the team. Value of the team goes up to $3 to $4B with this deal and he's left with a $1B+ debt that the new owner purchases. Tax hit goes up as well but in the end the profit goes up. HIs heirs can clear a $1B even after his death, thus reducing the double tax hit. Then there is the land he owns by the current GR. What becomes of that? I think that is what the city and state want. I will say this, he is making Kevin Warren look really bad right now if he pulls this off. -

WGN's report said the $500M TIF was included as part of the $1B. -

The Bears and NFL are building a stadium to host Superbowls and Final Fours. That area is not it. You think parking will be bad for baseball how's football going to work. Also 81 dates v 8/9. The NFLl is not building up neighborhoods, there are not enough dates. -

This is an obviously troll that is going to sit here and promote them moving while the Oakland A's can't find a home. The MLB isn't adding a adding a revenue sharing team nor is any city filling a stadium as often as Chicago would long term. $500M of the $1B is already accounted for via TIF funding. The other $500M is probably need to remediate and prepare the site for construction. The difficulty in looking at this project and bifurcating a $100M from this is nto that difficult. The idiots on the SCORE this morning were droning on about this like a couple of morons, This project instantly adds a new neighborhood to the south loop and then expands Bridgeport. I still think the GR site is the new Soldier Field with current Soldier Field being reinvented. -

Am I the only one that sees this as the Bears moving to the GRate site and Sox downtown???? -
This seems like a microcosm of society. Some team of folks put these together and thought they looked good. I don't think it was the goal to save money it was just people being really bad at their job. Whether it was Nike or MLB that helped design, they did not know their market.

This issue with advancing the potential another year is that all this draft talent turns into real expenses real quick. A lot of the cap space this offseason is earmarked for Jaylon Johnson. The Packers and 49ers have real draft capital. The Bears have high end draft capital but not the quantity needed to fill a roster. Missing on the QB again could cripple them as they have the talent to win but not the QB. -

That's going to be the downfall. JR lacks personality and so will his part in this. My hope is JR doesn't have the input on this. -

A few things Anyone thinking the $50M is an issue needs to leave the conversation The government will fund infrastructure upgrades that they would for any development. This will be viewed as the taxpayers handing money to JR but they would be wrong. The White Sox and Bears are in a race for ISFA bond issuance Not seen in this message - who own Related Midwest ----- the Miami Dolphins----- who could position themself to buy all this up when JR visits his ancestors ---- Stephen Ross ---- as we learned in the movie JFK ---- follow the money The way JR runs his sports teams has zero correlation with this project. The yelling at the cloud crowd need to understand this. This was proven with the UC deal. The Metra schedule is not that conducive currently. I can walk to it but I still drive and park for free. Make the experience better (schedule wise) and I'm on the train. I also would drag my boat home from Michigan for a ride up the River. -
Nolan Ryan threw out the first pitch at age 65 and hit 87. Cease should roll out of bed and hit a 100. Green font needs to be brought back now more than ever.

I'd love to see the ROI on the large deals of the day White Sox won in spectacular fashion on Belle's deal same with Fisk. -
Anderson, Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech Kopech sitting out the COVID season still doesn't sit well with me. It's not a COVID stance either there was just something off about that to me.

American Nightmare beside the crime is an amazing look into law enforcement. The reality of the characters are almost better then if portrayed by actors.
