I almost got into a fistfight with a guy when I told him that statistically Nolan Ryan was an average pitcher. This was in the early 2000's when wins and losses were a leading indicator. Even when not taking wins and losses into account his reality is not as great as his perceived value and I was a huge Nolan Ryan fan until he beat Ventura's ass.
They better hope the Cardinals get healthy or the Brewers take off because all three look to be around 85-87 wins and the Reds seem to be hanging in there.
With Darvish and their current pen they walk away with the division.
The sports media Sox fans (Mully, Bernstein, Holmes, etc) are like this message board. They love the Sox but everything the Sox do is bad and wrong.
On the flip side it seems the Cub guys are always finding the silver lining.
The worst possible thing is happening for the cubs. Their superstar free agents are performing to a level they had not recently but they do not have the pitching to sustain this.
Not sure their bullpen performance is sustainable but their rotation certainly is not playoff caliber.
